YMMV / Drunken Peasants

  • Archive Panic: Given its weekly (or more frequent) airing and the fact that each show is around 3 hours long, you will be watching a very, very long time if you are dedicated enough to sit through the entire series.
  • Audience-Alienating Era: Sometime around the 200 episodes, there were complaints of the show going off the rails, getting samey, and the annoyance of the hosts doing Kayfabe. Episodes 307 and 328 are considered as some of the worst produced. The episodes up to near 400 gradually mitigated these problems.
  • Awesome Music:
    • The intro music, as well as the music that Ben plays when the hosts take a break, which is outsourced from Newgrounds user BERSERKYD.
    • Recent break music has included multiple songs by an obscure band called Sex Twister, the lead singer of which is friends with Ben. Sex Twister plays pretty awesome music combined with hilariously-vulgar lyrical content, with subjects such as anally raping the homeless and being raped by a shit-eating transvestite.
  • Broken Base:
    • Any time the hosts talk about wrestling.
    • The Vader segment. Although liked at first, some fans wearied of it eventually.
    • The show returning after it's cancellation with only Ben and Billy as the hosts. Some were glad it's back while others believe the show is nothing without TJ.
  • Base-Breaking Character: Egghead (in as much as he's a "character"). Called "the cringe-iest motherfucker on the internet", fans either think he's lovably awkward or insufferably annoying. Even dP supplemental hosts have mixed opinions of him, with Rybi and Beyond Phere apparently getting into an argument over it over twitter.
  • Ensemble Dark Horse:
    • PaulsEgo, a recurring guest and friend of the hosts, is regarded by many fans as their favorite guest on the podcast. For the longest time he hasn't appeared on as a guest, but has since made a reappearance on almost every podcast starting from Episode 143, as of Episode 151 has announced that he'll appear on every Friday show, and later became a full host.
    • Thunderf00t, who as of May 2015 has only guest stared on the show once, is according to the "Best Guest" poll one of the most popular people featured on the show. He proved on his first guest-starring appearance as being funny, smart and fully capable of beating down G Man in a discussion on evolution.
    • G Time Johnny. Even PaulsEgo admits that he is one of his favorite featured individuals to ever be on the show.
    • Tommyfromthebronx, between his Badass Boasts, his open friendliness and loyalty to DP, and his cool accent (TJ himself can be heard sighing with satisfaction sometimes after Tommy speaks), it's no mystery why he shot up in popularity.
  • Fandom Rivalry:
    • There was a bit of discord when DP aired an A Dose of Buckley video that ranted about stoners and people who were "addicted" to marijuana. TJ said (somewhat facetiously) that he doesn't want any of Buckley's subscribers, and that led to some problems since these ranty internet dudes tend to have overlapping fanbases. A Dose of Buckley usually avoids E-Drama, so him becoming a DP character is unlikely, but he did write a snarky open letter to TJ, which TJ responded to with equal levels of snark on his Tumblr.
    • A similar yet somewhat smaller backlash came from fans of YouTuber Onision after DP replied to at least two of his videos. Ironically, even though Onision is known for spewing E-Drama, he has not acknowledged DP's replies, or at least has not replied to them.
    • Atheism Is Unstoppable and his fanbase have also budded heads with DP, specifically TJ himself. The feud started when AIU made a response to one of Jaclyn Glenn's videos about the Charleston Church Shooting, accusing her of white guilt, promoting racism towards whites and various other things. DP, while having Jaclyn on as a guest, featured the video and responded to it. During the response, TJ accused AIU of being a racist for a remark he made about black crime in America. It goes without saying that AIU did not take the remark lightly, though TJ has not changed mind about his accusation. Supporters of both groups are still fighting over it, with DP even offering for AIU to come on, which he has refused.
  • Fan Nickname:
    • Plenty of DP's rivals are given nicknames by fans and the hosts themselves. Examples include Christian vlogger Josh Feuerstein being usually called Josh Fuck-Stain or Josh Moronstein, Evangelist Ray Comfort as Ray Cum-Fart, and Brett Keane as The Butt King.
    • Scotty is sometimes called "Scoopy" by the fans. This is due to an instance where they went on break, and TJ briefly interrupted the break to tell everyone watching to start calling Scotty by that name, purely to troll his little brother.
    • There's also Ten and BJ.
  • Genius Bonus: Due to TJ, Ben and Scotty's love of Professional Wrestling, they constantly make jokes and references to it that only fans of the sport would understand fully.
  • Hilarious in Hindsight: Way back in Episode 23, while the hosts and guest PaulsEgo were covering the latest edition in the many farewell videos Brett Keane, the video was sped up for no explained reason. Fast forward to Episode 143 of the podcast, which also featured both PaulsEgo and a Brett Keane farewell video, and the hosts discover that they have the ability to speed up and slow down videos, which they almost immediately get more than their money's worth out of.
  • Memetic Badass:
    • Barack Obama is painted by the hosts as an antagonistic version of this, with joking claims that he's the devil and a badass assassin (the latter of which is derived from this), as well as claiming that any negative economic policies during George W. Bush's run as president were actually Obama policies that took effect before Obama became president.
    • Joseph 8276, AKA The Beast is (very facetiously) portrayed as this by the hosts, who claim that he's an omnipotent entity with a massive Gag Penis who is a Sex God and could either save the universe or destroy it depending on his mood. (In reality, he's a morbidly-obese and repulsive man who acts like an overgrown Emo Teen, has some very misogynistic viewpoints, and only acts like a badass but is really a pathetic target for trolling.)
  • Memetic Molester:
  • Memetic Mutation
    • "Is that Kane?" / "Why is he wearing a suit?" / "In 1998 the Undertaker threw Mankind off the Hell in a Cell through the Spanish Announcers' Table."
    • Brett Keane's "Stop attacking my family!" and any variation of it, mocked on the show constantly.
    • G-Man and the Masters of Stupidity
    • The mantra "Ban TJ! Ban TJ! Ban TJ!" Is often shouted by the hosts, including TJ. It has since become a popular hashtag associated with the show.
    • "Smoke Pan Everyday!"
    • Multiple references are made to "Miracles" by Insane Clown Posse, specifically the "fuckin' magnets" meme, usually in response to a Conspiracy Theorist or fundamentalist Christian who thinks that Science Is Bad while demonstrating a remarkable lack of scientific understanding.
    • MID-90'S KEVIN NAAAASSSSSHHHH!
    • This clip from the 1992 Christian melodrama Second Glance, is exploited on the show constantly, to the enjoyment of TJ and Ben and to the playful annoyance of fellow host Scotty. The clip became so popular on the show that the hosts insisted their followers create altered versions of it, usually replacing "Jesus man!" with some other humorous clip. However, the clip has gotten DP into trouble, as the production company that made the film the clip is from (supposedly) flagged DP's channel for copyright and got them blocked from making live videos again. The mess was sorted out, but the debacle may have all but prevented them from ever using the clip again on the show.
    "Hey Scotty? Beat ...Jesus man!"
    • "Poop Balls", thanks in part due to the show's live chat. The term was created by the hosts to mock the perceived uncreatively of the chat (known for it's spamming) itself in their eyes, but soon became a popular phrase spammed on said chat as a result.
    • Fanart of the show often depicts Ben as other individuals and fictional characters that are also named Ben (e.g. Ben Affleck, Benjamin Franklin, Uncle Ben).
    • GMan's infamous "Show me a starving (Christian) child!"note  which later got a mutation of its own with the $25,000 Sandy Hook Challenge.note
    • Bret Keene's frequent use of "indavijual" and "sitchyooachon".
    • Glanderson Booper.
  • Moral Event Horizon: The Peasants maintain that Brett Keane crosses this continually.
  • Most Wonderful Sound: Ben's distinctive laugh. The Other Wiki even had a "Ben Cackle Counter" for each episode.
  • Nausea Fuel:
    • Episode #154 ended with a graphically detailed story by PaulsEgo about a pilonidal cyst he once had. If you don't know what that is, consider yourself lucky.
    • Episode #378 starts with a fan-made sketch which features Brett using scrapings from the soles of his own feet to garnish canned chili. Then it followed that up with a video of a morbidly obese man drinking gravy out of a dish and a family so cheap they reused toilet paper and siphoned leftover ranch dressing back into the bottle. Suffice to say it nauseated a few fans.
  • Never Live It Down:
    • The infamous leaked banana video with TJ is brought up to the point that it's essential drinking game material. Tim the Bartender even attempted to use it to discredit TJ in his video response to the podcast.
    • In episode 43, G Man got into an argument with Dusty about God's existence. The subject of starving children came up (specifically why God would allow G Man to have money while children are starving all around the world), and G Man said perhaps the dumbest thing he has ever said on the show so far: He literally demanded "proof" that starving children existed by asking Ben and TJ to produce a starving child on the show. It was so stupid that the hosts banned him from the show until a poll was created that allowed the audience to vote on whether or not G Man should be allowed to return.
    • Let us never forget: Ben had a dream about having period sex with Barbara Bush.
    • One of the many Conspiracy Theorist video makers that made the show's coverage claimed that the Sandy Hook massacre was a hoax fabricated by the government and offered $25,000 to anyone who could offer proof (on his terms) of it having really happened, demanding that the person also put forth $25,000 of their own money as a bet. This went about as well as you'd expect from the DP and PaulsEgo. Since then he has been known as "the Sandy Hook guy" and the incident of aforementioned video follows him every time he appears.
    • Scotty losing the $1000 dollar bet to TJ (Scotty bet that Hillary Clinton would win the 2016 presidential election, TJ bet that Donald Trump would). Made worse by TJ's constant gloating at the time.
    • There are viewers who still believe Billy threw piss on to Paul in episode 328.
    • To this day, Egghead continues to get endless shit for how dirty his bathtub was. Not helped when he stated that cleaning it was a "work in progress".
    • Egghead once again continues to get crap for one of his trailer reactions where he excitedly asked if what he was seeing was Yoda.
"Hold on hold on hold on. Is this Yoda? Is this little guy right here Yoda? Because I know this is Luke right here, but is this Yoda? It has to be Yoda!"
  • The Scrappy:
    • Janet Bloomfield, the anti-feminist MRA, is generally regarded as the worst guest by the audience. This is mostly due to her acting very rude and obnoxious on the show, interrupting the hosts and slinging insults at the feminist she was debating rather than actually trying to make a cogent point. note
    • Many fans can't stand Gail Chana. Sure, she's weird and her stories weirder, but the fact that DP covers her videos constantly can wear down on some fans' patience. It may stem from how she seems to ramble endlessly about stuff that is obviously nonsense, but she is continuously featured nonetheless. That being said, many fans have admitted to laughing at her book reading video.
    • TJ himself has expressed his annoyance repeatedly whenever Ben features a video from either Vigilant Christian Mario or Brett Keane. He complains about Mario because his videos tend to be the same formula over and over again without much deviation, while he hates Brett Keane's videos because he hates Brett Keane. Fans don't tend to disagree.
    • Most of the hosts have a section of the fanbase who consider them this; Paulsego seems to get the worst of it, and Jeff Holiday among the backup hosts. Some of it is probably in jest.
  • Serial Numbers Filed Off: Recently, the hosts were made aware that a much less popular and lower quality podcast with a suspiciously-similar theme, structure, and name (The Inebriated Variety podcast) has popped up. They didn't mind being imitated and actually found it amusing, but the podcast was quickly chased off of YouTube by outraged fans anyway.
  • Squick:
    • Invoked intentionally with the "Draw PaulsEgo Ugly" contest, with varying levels of success, and the "Draw Tim the Bartender and TJ Rule 34" contest, with more successful results.
    • Some of the things TJ has said on the show has made Ben audibly ill when he said them. There have even been times where Ben could be heard retching at some of the nasty shit that has come out of TJ's mind. Hilariously, TJ almost never reacts to these instances or even seems to notice them.
