YMMV / Donut County

  • Funny Moments: Trash King insisting that there's nothing to worry about. He merely turned on the emergency lights because they're fun.
    • The major plot in a nutshell is quite hilarious: raccoons LOVE trash, but don't quite know how to MAKE it. The use of the holes is to collect things to analyze how to make trash. Yep, the entire purpose of BK's app is so the raccoons will know how to make trash for themselves.
  • Heartwarming Moments:
    • The conversation Mira and BK have when they go in the hot air balloon to confront the Trash King. Even though she's rightfully mad at him for what he did and him trying to weasel his way out of the mess, she still wants to be friends with him. Even BK is shocked when she says it, knowing how upset she was over what he did.
    • When BK is launching everyone back up, he makes a sweet proposal to Coyote, the original owner of the Donut Shop. He asks if he wants to work at the shop again, especially since they're going to change their ways. Coyote accepts, but under the condition that he becomes BK’s boss, which BK seems okay with.
  • It's Short, So It Sucks!: One of the most widespread complaints about the game is that it can be bum-rushed through in about three to five hours; if you know what you're doing, you can even finish in under two hours, and the current speedrun record is just above 30 minutes. But if your game's main con is that there isn't enough of it, you likely did everything else right.
  • Surprise Difficulty: It's not too difficult, but the boss fight is remarkably hard compared to the laid-back nature of the game, and getting the achievement for a flawless run in the level might be tricky the first time around.
    • There's also the geckos outside Coco's House that actively run away from the hole and turn invisible, forcing players to move very precisely to catch them.
  • Underused Game Mechanic: The catapult (which is used in the latter half of the game, but only a few times) and the fact that combat is feasible, as seen in the "boss fight" level.
  • What Do You Mean, It's Not Political?: The raccoons driving out the entire county as they move in and taking all the residents' things is commonly seen as allegories to gentrification and cultural appropriation, respectively.
