YMMV / Doctor Who S37 E2 "The Ghost Monument"

• Special Effects Failure: Whether you think it's this, Artistic License – Physics, and/or Convection, Schmonvection, the scene of the Doctor and adventurers crawling away after digging themselves two inches down with their feet, igniting acetylene right above their heads, and having it continuing to burn mere inches above them, looked kind of ridiculous after a tense build-up.
• They Wasted a Perfectly Good Plot:
  • The Remnants, produced by tortured scientists under orders from the Stenza and able to delve into people's worst fears. They could have been used to give more backstory to Angstrom, Epzo, the companions or even the Doctor herself. Instead, they're dealt with instantly by an exploding cigar.
  • While the mention of the Stenza at least reminded the audience they were still out there, whatever the Stenza were up to on Desolation ultimately had no bearing on the direction of Series 11.
• Woolseyism: In the episode's Brazilian dub, the Doctor's comment that she obtained her sunglasses from either Audrey Hepburn or Pythagoras is changed to reference Carmen Miranda and Palmirinha Onofre, names more recognizable to that country's viewership.
