YMMV / Doctor Who S31 E5 "Flesh and Stone"

Go To

  • Broken Base:
    • The decision to show the Weeping Angels moving at the end of the episode resulted in this. Some thought this made the scene even scarier, since you didn't expect something like that to happen. Others felt that this broke the immersion established in the Angels' previous apperances: the Angels only moved when neither the character onscreen nor the viewer was looking at them, which made you feel the same dread as the character as they'd suddenly appear much closer.
    • Amy's advances on the Doctor are also controversial. Some feel it's an understandable reaction to the reappearance of her Not-So-Imaginary Friend; others feel that for her to do this on the eve of her wedding was going too far. Generally speaking those who like Amy more tend to justify her actions by citing she had just almost died (which is the explanation the Doctor uses in the next episode), while those who like Rory consider this one of the many ways she is horrible to him.
  • Harsher in Hindsight: The Doctor has to help Amy through her blindness. Flash forward to season ten and the Twelfth Doctor spends most of a trilogy blind himself.
  • Magnificent Bastard: Angel Bob again. See that page for details.
