- Harsher in Hindsight: Every joke about Dick Clark's eternal youth stopped being funny after his stroke and subsequent decline.
- For the 40th anniversary of New Year's Rockin' Eve, a tribute to Clark was aired prior to the event. When asked if the on-air tribute to him would indicate it would be his final year on the program, Clark responded with "I hope not." Unfortunately, that year would indeed be Clark's last, as he would die from a heart attack on April 18, 2012.
- Heartwarming Moments/Tear Jerker: After he died the city of New York City asked people to write down their memories of him. Then they collected up all the little papers and used them for the Confetti Drop for the 2013 New Year's show, the first one after his death, so he could celebrate one last time.
- He Really Can Act: Although he rarely took roles outside of playing himself—or as a form of himself—on scripted series, Dick actually had some pretty good acting chops, as evidenced in "The Case of the Final Fadeout", a 1966 episode from the original Perry Mason series.
YMMV / Dick Clark
