• Broken Base
  • Amongst fellow Muslims that believe the show is a bad representation of their religion and way of life. Also, the N-Word Privileges with the racial slur "paki".
  • The sudden death of Humza'a mother from a cardiac arrest, which also turned out to be All Just a Dream anyway. Fans felt cheated and felt like it was a cheap way to one-up previous plots, especially with an ending worthy of the famous twist/shower scene from Dallas.
• Crosses the Line Twice: When it's not Humza's father bragging about his misogynistic views and domestic abuse, Humza beats a blind child unconscious, gets chased down the street by butchers armed with knives, the constant mockery of Muslim stereotypes, and Humza walks away from a corpse.
• Designated Hero: Humza, through the show being his diary entries and how we are only seeing everything through his point of view.
• Funny Moments: Humza's fever dream of a "Friday" parody, which is hilariously very detailed and practically shot-for-shot. Then his mother appears as the rapper. You can also find the funny page here.
• Unintentional Period Piece: With the show ending in 2013, there is rather a lot of early-2010 topics that are rather dated now. To name a few:
  • Humza talks about Prince William and Kate Middleton's 2011 royal wedding by pointing out the BBC live coverage and how the horses pulling the carriages were defecating in the streets of London.
  • Talking about the London 2012 Olympic Games, and imagining what would happen if Pakistan was hosting.
  • The dated Jive Turkey slang used by the streetwise characters.
  • Rebecca Black's "Friday" (2010) and Carly Rae Jepsen's "Call Me Maybe" (2012) being referenced by the characters. Also, Justin Bieber's "One Thing" (2009) as his ringtone.
