  • Covered Up:
    • "Oh Me, Oh My, Sweet Baby" was originally cut by George Strait.
    • "Night Is Fallin' in My Heart" was originally released by J. P. Pennington (then formerly of Exile) in 1991.
  • Older Than They Think: "One More Day" often gets lumped into the sad and wistful songs that were released after 9/11, but the song had already peaked in early 2001 and was off the charts for several months at that point.
  • Sophomore Slump: Close to the Edge was seen as an example, as sales and singles performance were lower than that of the albums around it. The band itself shares this opinion, pointing out that they only had 30 days to pick the songs for it. As a result, there was a longer gap before the third album, which was seen by many as an improvement.
  • Tear Jerker: Many of their sad songs qualify, such as "You're Gone" and "One More Day".
