YMMV / Death Comes to Pemberley

Go To

  • Captain Obvious Reveal: Some found it easy to figure out Will Bidwell was the killer, simply because they had little reason to exist in the plot otherwise. The TV adaptation makes it more obvious by giving this character a suspicious amount of focus in the final episode's Previously On…, despite them supposedly being a minor character.
  • Dawson Casting: The TV adaptation still keeps the six years later aspect of the book. But the now 27 year old Elizabeth is played by the 37 year old Anna Maxwell Martin.

  • Jerkass Woobie: George and Lydia Wickham.
  • What You Are in the Dark: Darcy finds himself in a situation where the man he hates most in all the world is accused of murder and likely to be executed for it. All he has to do is do nothing. While he struggles with it, Darcy ultimately believes that Wickham didn't commit the murder and assists in the investigation, although it's Lizzy who finds the evidence that clears Wickham. They're rewarded by Wickham and Lydia deciding to emigrate to America to escape the scandal.
