  • Jerks Are Worse Than Villains: Played With. Bobby and Miss Petrie are made the movies Hate Sinks over the more quirky and charming Villain Protagonist, Lucy Diamond, the criminal mastermind and wanted supervillain. Bobby is a pushy and clingy ex-boyfriend, who won't accept Amy broke up with him; while Miss Petrie is an arrogant headmistress who cares more about boosting the D.E.B.S reputation. During the second half, Bobby, Petrie and the Academy would become the film's actual antagonists as they try to "fix" Amy, and separate her from Lucy. Being an unsubtle Cure Your Gays analogy, on top of Bobby's skeevy Dogged Nice Guy attitude, these things may hit closer to home for an LGBT audience, especially young women.
  • Friendly Fandoms: The film shares a LGBT Fanbase with Kim Possible.
  • LGBT Fanbase: It's largely forgotten by everyone except queer women, due to being a mainstream movie with a lesbian focus in a time when such things were rare.
  • Magnificent Bitch: Lucy Diamond, despite her reputation as an infamous and dangerous criminal mastermind, turns out to be an emotionally awkward woman who has trouble opening up while looking for a stable relationship. Falling for Amy Bradshaw, Lucy kidnaps her and her friend in what quickly becomes a friendly outing as the two get to know each other. Even with her quirkier side, Lucy is a genuinely competent and confident criminal, coming out on top of nearly every encounter, and effortlessly dodging traps, captures, and attempts to kill her throughout. Lucy stages several criminal activities such as a fake bank robbery just to get Amy alone to talk to her, and a fake bomb threat to send her a love message. Lucy and Amy stage the latter's kidnapping to pursue an affair. After being caught in the act, and being easily talked out of a half-hearted plan to destroy Australia, Lucy decides to get her act together, publicly giving up her life of crime and returning everything she has stolen for Amy. Reconciling with Amy during the Endgame, the two escape arrest from the D.E.B.S. Academy, with Lucy effortlessly besting Amy's jealous ex in the process.
  • One-Scene Wonder: Michael Clarke Duncan as one of the D.E.B.S. higher-ups who (in so many words) tells Amy what she needs to hear. He also serves as Mr. Exposition.
