  • Contested Sequel: Some think The Last Jedi is a good action-packed story that wraps up some loose ends and has great tie-ins to other works in the franchise. Many others think it completely out-of-place in both this series and Legends as a whole (heavily referencing The Clone Wars even when that show has some major continuity issues with the series regarding the fates of Barris and Master Piell) and utterly wastes fan-favorite characters like Laranth. Adding to the debate is how the book was written four years after the original novel trilogy and at a point where the original author relied heavily on a collaborator due to having Parkinson’s Disease, which fans can take to mean either that the effort he put into the book deserves special respect or that his diminished control over the project separates it from his other books.
  • Fanfic Fuel: The defense and evacuation of the Jedi Temple (which had dozens if not hundreds of Jedi and civilian survivors, including Jax, Jedi Council member Even Piell and a few dozen members of the Fights Like a Normal Paladins like Laranth) and subsequent hiding in safe houses and smuggling people off-planet took place months before the main story and are only described in passing, but sound like they have lots of story potential.
  • Hilarious in Hindsight: The Last Jedi (the most base-breaking book in the series) shares the same title as a future sequel trilogy film that also has its share of Contested Sequel reactions.
