The 1978 Film

  • Fair for Its Day: Cook spends probably a little too much time talking about Susan's beauty and sexuality, and he doesn't exactly dispel the notion that women are somehow inherently more emotional than men. However, it's Susan's emotions that indirectly lead her down the rabbit hole to uncover the conspiracy that drives the plot, dispelling the notion that emotions are useless, and that's before getting into the bone the author clearly had to pick with actual chauvinists, particularly male doctors.
  • Retroactive Recognition: One of the patients who later falls into a coma is played by a pre-Magnum, P.I. Tom Selleck.
