* SeasonalRot: Initially, the videos were pointing out the actual ''flaws'' in movies, like a PlotHole or SpecialEffectsFailure. However, the show has gradually devolved into a parody of itself, picking apart a movie for the most minor things, like just showing the studio logo or having narration. It's telling that the earlier videos were around 5 minutes long, later ones are 20-30 minutes. ''At least''. Additionally, many of the sins now suffer from OverlyLongGag, are a lot more vulgar in their humor, or feature Jeremy getting angrier and louder (even if he's playing it up), sometimes a combination of some or all of the above.

** Regardless of one's thoughts on the matter, the "Review Crew" scandal is this as Jeremy appeared to be deeply hurt in his accusation video I and over the attacks from his own fans against Screen Junkies. This is especially sad when one considers the tight bond the fans of both channels share.

* UnintentionallyUnsympathetic: Jeremy can come across as this in his ''Dear Hollywood videos.'' While his pleas for more original and better films are a reasonable demand, his often vulgar demeanor makes him come across as rather entitled and arrogant.

I don't think this entry fits considering they do use their videos to make criticisms. They aren't just "being funny" but also being serious with their points.

* DoNotDoThisCoolThing: WordOfGod is that the narrator is meant to be an annoying asshole who constantly gets things wrong because he's too obsessed with smug nit-picking to actually pay attention to the movie he's watching. However, the narrator is also sometimes used as a vehicle for [[JerkassHasAPoint serious discussions of genuine problems with films]], and without outside context there's very little in the videos themselves to indicate which sins are supposed to be funny and which are meant to be serious. As a result, many fans come away thinking that the [[MisaimedFandom entire series is meant to be read as genuine film criticism]], and unironically treat Jeremy's humorous nitpicks as proof of how bad a movie is.

** UsefulNotes/DonaldTrump's cameo from ''Film/HomeAlone2LostInNewYork'' got 1,000,000,000 sins (In comparison, the ''Ocean's Eleven'' scene where Danny Ocean is in a phone booth next to the Drumpf Plaza gets 10 sins). Some appreciated the TakeThat aimed at the president, while others saw it as a political cheap shot and/or felt Jeremy was signaling that Drumpf supporters, or right-wingers in general, were not welcome in his fanbase.

The Scrappy requires they be hated nigh-universally. Kevin Smith however was enjoyed by a significant number of viewers, said raunchy humor eliciting Crosses The Line Twice reactions, so Base Breaking Character is the more fitting entry.

** Creator/KevinSmith in the ''Film/ANewHope'' video. Some appreciated the gesture of gratitude for Kevin [[ColbertBump putting Cinema Sins on the map]], while others hated his annoying voice, tendency to drag sins on much longer than Jeremy, and raunchy humor that goes far beyond what Jeremy does.

* ReviewsAreTheGospel: There are overzealous fans who will take the videos at face value and use it as evidence against a movie dislike. The Cinema Sins crew have acknowledged this MisaimedFandom and for extra irony, they even stated they ''loved'' ''Film/TheAmazingSpiderMan'', their very first video.

** In every one of his sin videos, you will find many mixed Website/YouTube comments, usually those who criticize or insult him on being too serious and overly critical about an entertaining movie. In the descriptions of some videos, they even note that they like some of the films they're covering; examples have included ''Film/BackToTheFuture1'', ''Film/TheHuntForRedOctober'' and ''Film/TheMatrix''. In ''Everything Wrong With [=CinemaSins=]'' Jeremy notes that one of the films they've covered is in his personal top ten.[[note]] "And no, it's not motherf*cking ''Film/{{Twilight}}''. It was ''Film/{{Battleship}}''".[[/note]] Some people do have a point about not reading too much into the films, focusing on narrative themes rather than minor nitpicks, and though the nature of the channel is satirical, they often add some serious criticisms and treat sins as fact... which comes with its own share of flaws. Also despite their own claim that, "[cinema] sins have no real value", the number and length of the bonus rounds tend to indicate their disdain for a film, and sometimes they'll actually ''state'' as much.

* FaceOfTheBand: Jeremy receives much more attention than Chris Atkinson, considering he narrates the videos and mostly manages the official social media accounts and has his own channel. Jeremy even acknowledged this in a tweet where someone asked if they ought to change the Twitter account to his own.

Political hindsight, and given the time gap, it's an obvious shoehorn.

** At the end of the ''Film/ThePurgeElectionYear'' video, a newscaster mentions that supporters of the New Founding Fathers "have reacted violently to this defeat", to which Jeremy replies "God, I hope this movie isn't predicting the future". While nothing notable happened after the 2016 elections, the victory of Joe Biden in the 2020 elections resulted in violent riots (some of them incited by Donald Trump), culminating in the Capitol attack on January 2021 which resulted in several deaths.
