YMMV / Christmas in New York

• Accidental Innuendo:
  • "Aw, don't worry child, here there is a sausage only for you".
  • Due to the voice actors' accents, they keep pronouncing "Fox" like something different.
  • Many people get overly touchy-feely with Ari, most notably the Mall Santa, the hot dog salesman, and the priests.
• Ass Pull: The Dogcatcher's Heel–Face Turn comes so out of nowhere that even the cast in-universe is confused. They then proceed to immediately buy his "Just Joking" Justification with no questions.
• Big-Lipped Alligator Moment: The movie is just full of things that just happen and then are never brought up again. The biggest example is the Snowflake Fairy, who just appears in one scene and then never has a role again.
• Continuity Lockout: The movie doesn't bother explaining anything to you, including who the characters are. You literally have to have seen several of Mondo's previous television series (Winner and the Golden Child and Simba Jr. and the World Cup) to even have an idea of who the characters are and how they know each other.
• Padding: After Ari and the dogs get to New York, the movie basically turns into padding, with numerous subplots that don't really have anything to do with each other, and some of which ultimately go nowhere.
• Quirky Work: This film has a bizarre Random Events Plot and strange imagery, to the point where it seems more like a crazed fever dream, and not an actual structured plot.
• So Bad, It's Good: The movie is really not well made, but it's just so incoherent and, well, bizarre it can still be entertaining to watch.
• Sweetness Aversion:
  • The dog catcher, after he's revealed to be Good All Along. He suddenly starts acting like a soft-hearted and saccharine Gentle Giant and Friend to All Living Things who puts Disney princesses to shame (feeding birds and other animals, being affectionate to his ill daughter, and revealing that his name is Angelo), even if he was supposed to be a villain in the early scenes of the movie.
  • The scene where Ari is happily playing with his parents in slow motion near the Christmas Tree is ridiculously sappy.
• What Do You Mean, It's for Kids?: Although ostensibly a children's film, the movie has a lot of weird innuendos and moments, including a drug reference (i.e. "Have you given a strange tablet? Have you doped?")
