YMMV / Christina Grimmie

Go To

  • Broken Base: The fact that Christina's family is still releasing her music has garnered up some dispute. Many fans know that Christina always wanted to reach out and inspire people with her music, while others, typically people who never knew Christina, believe that the family is only selfishly doing this for money.
  • Harsher in Hindsight:
    • Her cover of "Titanium", following her being fatally shot in 2016.
Christina: You shoot me down, but I won't fall, I am titanium!

    • One song on her With Love album is titled "Absolutely Final Goodbye".
    • In one video featuring her family, she said her mom didn’t want her posting to YouTube at first because some creepy man could try to track her down.
    • “Grimmie Grammy Party” is bad enough as she talks about her dreams of winning one someday, but then she makes finger guns for a pun and then mimes shooting herself in the head.
    • Really, there's quite a few more examples than you'd think. Blink and you'll miss it, but the "Must Be Love" video even has her get shot in the heart with a Cupid's arrow.
    • According to Jtails, Christina Grimmie apparently flirted with him while he was in a relationship. That puts the song "Make It Work" into a new light.
    • Hell, even Above All That Is Random can apply, after allegations came out against Sarah, aka Happlesful, that Christina knew about and did not approve of.

    • "I Bet You Don't Curse God" is this already. Then "Hard Mode" came out, in which her boyfriend Stephen...kinda does.
  • Heartwarming in Hindsight: Christina was born mere weeks before Kurt Cobain's death, but repeatedly said her favorite quote was his "I'd rather be hated for who i am, than loved for who I'm not." After her passing, "Pressure" from All Is Vanity turned out to be centered around that very quote.
  • Memetic Mutation: "I'm nutella, I'm nutella!" After Christina sings, "I'mma tell my momma about ya! I'mma tell her! I'mma tell her!" fans decided that she said "nutella".
  • "Snow White", too, being on the last EP.
  • They Changed It, Now It Sucks!: A portion of the fandom didn't like some of her new singles like "Must Be Love" or "Cliché" in comparison to her older songs.
