- Alternative Character Interpretation: Sam likes robot women, and his "ex girlfriend" doesn't seem much more intelligent than Cherry. Is Ginger a robot? Or perhaps Lester had broken her psychologically making her more submissive. Or, due to how Ginger and Sam's relationship ended, Sam fell in love with Cherry because she was less complicated than whatever complicated woman Ginger used to be prior to heading out to Sky Ranch.
- Questionable Casting: Melanie Griffith as a tough-as-nails bounty hunter is this for some, it's certainly a case of Playing Against Type.
