- Adorkable: Mr Tidey always turns up at the maternity ward whenever his wife claims that she's going into labor, even leaving his work shift to be by her side.
- Hilarious in Hindsight: Matron's dismissive attitude towards the railways becomes funnier when you realise that Hattie Jacques appeared in commercials for British Rail a few years after the film was released.
- Retroactive Recognition: Miss Willing is played by Wendy Richard, who would later be best known for playing Miss Brahms in Are You Being Served? and Pauline Fowler in EastEnders.
- Signature Scene: Sid and his gang being chased through Finisham Maternity Hospital by all the expectant mothers.
- They Wasted a Perfectly Good Character: Mr. and Mrs. Tidey, despite being married to each other and played by Carry On mainstays (Kenneth Connor and Joan Sims, respectively), don't get a single scene together!
- Values Dissonance: Cyril is ordered to disguise as a nurse in order to steal drugs from Finisham Maternity Hospital, and he attracts the attention of Dr. Prodd, who drags him into a room and tries to rape him, pointing out that there's no need to defend himself because he's a trained boxer; even if the nurse was female all along, the scene would probably be played out the same way.
