- Cliché Storm: There isn't anything in this movie that other torture porn films like the Saw or Hostel franchises didn't already do.
- Just Here for Godzilla: Elisha Cuthbert is probably the only reason for watching this film. Or Daniel Gillies, due to the Retroactive Recognition The Vampire Diaries and The Originals have provided for him.
- Nausea Fuel: That blender scene. Ugh!
- Overshadowed by Controversy: Much better known than the heavily panned film itself is the outrage surrounding its marketing campaign, which included disturbing billboards posted publicly in Los Angeles and New York City that depicted the main character being abducted, tortured, and finally murdered (which doesn't even happen in the movie- Jennifer escapes and survives!). There was quite a flurry of outrage that such graphic material would be placed in a location where children could see it, and the outrage only increased when it was discovered that the MPAA had rejected the billboard, only for After Dark Films to distribute it anyway, leading to legal squabbles that forced the film to be delayed for two months.
- So Bad, It's Good: This movie is so incredibly stupid and has all the cliches to a torture film that it's actually funny.
