  • Award Snub: Body Count was nominated for a Grammy for "Best Metal Performance" in 2018 for the song "Black Hoodie". Like with many past awards, name recognition would usually play a huge part as many metalheads predicted that Body Count would earn the Grammy solely because Ice-T is the band's frontman. Unfortunately, that was not the case as Mastodon won the award instead.
  • Creator Backlash: Ice-T wasn't too happy with how Murder for Hire turned out, saying that it was rushed out the door. No tracks from the album have been played live since its release.
  • Ensemble Dark Horse: While they aren't universally respected like, say Iron Maiden or Slayer, they are quite a bit more popular among metalheads than one might expect. It's to the point that many have criticized the highly elitist website Metal Archives for not adding them to their database solely because their frontman is a rapper, as despite featuring rapping on some songs (mostly in later albums), their music itself has no hip-hop influences whatsoever.
  • Gateway Series: To Heavy Metal and Punk Rock for rap fans and vice-versa.
  • Hilarious in Hindsight: Ice-T has gone from singing about killing cops to playing a cop on TV.
  • Narm: Ice-T's Big "NO!" in "The Winner Loses".
  • Signature Song: "There Goes the Neighborhood" or "Cop Killer"
  • Tear Jerker: "The Winner Loses" from Body Count, in which a crack addict dies.
