- Broken Base: The art drawn by Travel Foreman, especially regarding Felicia. Some say that Joey Vazquez should have been kept on. Others say that Foreman was improving.
- Character Rerailment: MacKay continues where Nick Spencer had left off in his Amazing Spider-Man run with returning Felicia to her traditional depiction after the controversy of her Dan Slott-era characterization.
- Launcher of a Thousand Ships: Besides the long list of paramours she's had in canonnote , it's quite common for fans to pair Felicia with MJ, Silk, Gwen Stacy and even Eddie Brock.
- Rescued from the Scrappy Heap: Black Fox was a powerless and cowardly elderly cat burglar and is largely regarded as one of Spider-Man's least interesting villains. This series reimagines him as a dapper and highly experienced, if aged, Gentleman Thief who's both a mentor and surrogate father figure to Felicia and most people agree this is a much better depiction.
- Theme Pairing: Puma and Black Cat. Both have feline Animal Motifs and are of neutral alignment.
- Unexpected Character: Korpse and Grainger, two characters who haven't been seen since Felicia's earliest appearances in the comics.
- Tamara Blake being the Iron Cat was rather surprising, since she only had two appearances previously, one in 1984 and another in 2020.
- Win Back the Crowd: A Black Cat ongoing was already a pleasant surprise to fans. Her returning to her classic depiction as a thief who has some morals was met with even more appreciation.
