YMMV / Bill Evans

Go To

  • Germans Love David Hasselhoff: Evans had enthusiastic fanbases in Europe and Japan, touring frequently and recording several live albums in those places.
  • Tear Jerker: His music is so beautifully emotional it can bring tears to your eyes. Special mention to "I Loves You, Porgy" and "My Foolish Heart", though pretty much any of the ballads qualify.
  • The Woobie: He lost a lot of people close to him. His bassist Scott LaFaro died in a late night car crash after falling asleep at the wheel, at age 25 in 1961. It's believed that Evans never fully got over it. His brother and girlfriend later both committed suicide within a year of each other.
