  • Funny Moments:
    • Pauline helping Napoleon prepare for a date as though they were planning a military strategy.
    • During the side mission "Staff vs. Tactician", the player controls Nicolette in a mock battle against Pauline's army. Since this mission takes place before Nicolette meets Pauline, she doesn't know the names of any of Pauline's soldiers and assigns them names based on their most immediately noticeable qualities. Some examples include calling d'Eon "Old Man" (and describing him as seeming unsuitable for the battlefield), calling Lannes "Angry Officer", and calling Cosette "Poor Little Girl".
  • Game-Breaker:
    • Light Infantry units in general. Their great speed ensures that they'll attack twice against almost every enemy while avoiding getting hit themselves, and their high mobility makes them easy to move across the map. Furthermore, they're heavily favored by the game's unbalanced Tactical Rock–Paper–Scissors, as they're super effective against Line Infantry, which make up the bulk of the enemy forces, and weak against Light Cavalry, which rarely ever appear.
    • Among Light Infantry, Adelaide stands out as quite possibly the strongest unit in the game. Along with having a base speed high enough to immediately dodge tank enemies as soon as you get her (compared to the earlier-joining Cosette whose class typing gives her lower agility in exchange for greater range), her unique passive ability grants her increased attack and evasion when she has less health than an enemy, meaning she only becomes more effective as a dodge tank in the rare instances when the enemy lands a hit on her.
    • While Cosette lacks Adelaide's incredible speed, her unique ability grants her an additional plus one range for every attack. Later, she acquires an additional unique ability that enables her to act again on the same turn provided she uses a Heroic attack. Combined with her excellent attack and great speed and movement stats, and she can wipe out most of the enemies from a map by herself.
    • Military Band units have access to the Triumph Music skill as soon as Eugenie is recruited, which allows any unit it is used on to act again on the same turn. It can also be freely traded between both Eugenie and Aimee during battle, allowing for two uses per turn with smart enough unit placement. While its potential usefulness is at first mitigated by the fact that it can only be used four times per battle, it can later be replenished by stationing whoever is currently holding it next to a unit of the Sapper class like Dutheil or Julie, allowing it to be used indefinitely.
  • Late Character Syndrome: Characters recruited during the last third of the game are inevitably inferior to those of the same class that are recruited earlier by virtue of starting under-leveled and lacking the potential needed to make investing in them worth it. They aren't bad units per se, but there isn't much point to putting the time into leveling them up when they'll only ever end up being about on par with units that don't require nearly as much investment. Of particular note are Leclerc and Philipp, who are of the rifle-wielding Light Cavalry class and can't do much of anything that someone else in the party can do better.
  • Moe: Cosette is a doe-eyed, golden-haired orphan in a French infantry uniform who is a Friend to All Living Things on top of being endearingly shy around other people. That she happens to be one of the most useful units in the game also adds to her natural likability. It actually gets Lampshaded during the side mission where the player controls Nicolette, who, not knowing her name, refers to her as a "Pitifully cute little girl".
  • That One Achievement: The special objective for chapter 26 requires defeating the Marquis de Lafayette in battle. The problem is that he can only be fought by Charlotte and has the stats needed to take her out in just a few hits even when she has reached the game's Level Cap of 30. While he can be talked down from attacking for the rounds, the player will still need to stock up on healing items if they want to have any hope of taking him out.
  • They Wasted a Perfectly Good Character: Anne, Bridget, and Leonore, the three leaders of the Anti-France Coalition, all have the makings of being interesting antagonists due to their charismatic designs and compelling profile descriptions, but ultimately do not carry enough presence in the story to leave much of an impact.
  • Translation Trainwreck: While the English translation is competent enough to allow the story to be understood, it saps a lot of the personality from the characters and can leave scenes feeling much less impactful than they're intended to be. Several of the menus are also litered with errors in spelling and grammar, though again not enough to be a direct hindrance.
