- Ass Pull: The anime's Sudden Downer Ending as we only learn after Bagi's unexplained absence and Time Skip she had "matured yet again", resulting in the sudden loss of much of her intelligence. She had changed into a wild feral animal. Whether this was a case of Writer Cop Out, Executive Meddling, or Creator Breakdown is unclear. Osamu definitely wanted to convey the message that man needs to learn that meddling with nature is morally wrong, a noble message. Regrettably, poorly executed one in the final arc of the story at the expense of a main character's personality and development.
- Misaimed Fandom: The movie was originally made in opposition to DNA recomposition researches and to warn against the dangers of meddling with nature. Ironically, it became Popular with Furries to a degree, and the titular character being an anthropomorphic Ms. Fanservice only made it worse.
- Popular with Furries: With the giant talking cat-woman in a leotard, it’s kinda obvious.
