• Contested Sequel: Fans of the original show are pretty split on this show. While some consider it a perfectly fine Lighter and Softer sequel that excels at reintroducing Babar to new generations and respecting the original (while also expanding on the setting), others dislike how it lacks the Parental Bonuses tackling dark issues and the serious, dramatic storytelling of the original series and think that it's mostly just saccharine .
• Ensemble Dark Horse: Jake, the messy little fox kit.
• Hilarious in Hindsight: Hoot is a female hyena who is initially believed to be a threat by the main characters only to reveal she is good and befriend them, in contrast to the usual portrayal of hyenas in media. 4 years later, The Lion Guard would introduce another good hyena the same way.
• Tough Act to Follow: Given how highly regarded the original Babar series is, it was almost guaranteed that the series would be met with this. While opinions on the show are pretty split, even those who liked the show felt it was nowhere near the level of the original.
