- Aluminum Christmas Trees: Ryan initially believes that school disciplinarians like Mr. Strickland only exist in movies. A fan subsequently wrote in saying that their aunt works as a "Mistress of Discipline" at a Catholic school.
- Heartwarming Moments:
- On pages 34-35, Ryan points out that this was the first sections he read out loud to his wife (then his girlfriend). They found it so hilarious that Ryan dog-eared it so that he could do something with it later...Ryan: And here we are, later, and we’re doing something with it… together.
- When Doc claims that all humans are inherently dishonest and seedy, Ryan says that maybe Doc just needs better friends because his are nice.
