• Broken Base: Despite it being a plausible storytelling choice, the fact that the elements were not restored on Discord's defeat raised a few ires from readers, although not all of them thought it a bad choice.
• Harsher in Hindsight: Before Celestia teaches Rarity bloodbending, she make it very clear to her how it's almost impossible to use bloodbending to hurt another person. In the sequel, we're introduced to Dazzling Sapphires, an evil bloodbender who can do just that.
• Shocking Moments: The season finales both give us some great moments, like Twilight summoning an Ursa Major to fight the water nation, or Sweetie's plan to take Fillydelphia.
• Spoiled by the Format: Given that this is a parody of Avatar using pony characters, it doesn't take much brainpower to figure out that the crusader Flowerbloom is somehow connected to Apple Bloom.
• Unexpected Character: Who expected King Sombra to be Combustion Man and Ursa?
