• Hilarious in Hindsight:
  • The idea of Witches and Hollows being the same thing was already brought up long ago, just like the comparison between the Walpurgisnacht and Menos. The idea becomes more reinforced in the anime of Magia Record: Puella Magi Madoka Magica Side Story, when Iroha has to deal with her own inner Witch/Doppel that is Giovanna, exactly how Ichigo struggles with his Inner Hollow.
  • After Karin and Yuzu save Ichigo from a Witch, they agree with Urahara to tell him he passed out because he skipped too many meals. Several years later, much the same idea comes up in Magia Record: Puella Magi Madoka Magica Side Story during Ria Ami's winter costume story, although there it's the victim who concludes that he must have passed out due to skipping breakfast.
• Harsher in Hindsight:
  • Karin thinks to herself that Homura is "a tough nut to crack". Turns out Karin's own Soul Gem isn't. She destroys it herself with a nutcracker.
  • Karin crows over an unintentional joke she made with "hahaha, I kill myself." She eventually does.
• Tear Jerker: Ichigo and Isshin's reactions to Karin and Yuzu's deaths. Isshin tells Yuzu that Daddy's here and he'll help her as he tries and fails to resuscitate her. When Kisuke confirms Yuzu is dead, Isshin begs her to come back to Daddy.
