YMMV / Arrow S 7 E 16 Star City 2040

Go To

  • Catharsis Factor: After Rene didn't face any repercussions for his annoying childishness for much of Season 6's second half, seeing him be so thoroughly duped and humbled is a very welcome development.
  • Hilarious in Hindsight: On Arrow's sister show Supergirl, the casting announcement of Jon Cryer as Lex Luthor raised eyebrows due to the only five-year age gap between him and the actress playing his mother. Literally one day after Lex's debut, this episode of Arrow airs, which features Emily Bett Rickards's character playing the mother of Katherine McNamara's character, despite Emily being only four years older.
  • Narm: The fact that Felicity barely aged a day in twenty years is... really noticeable when compared to the rest of the cast (minus Rene, who has the same problem).
  • They Wasted a Perfectly Good Plot: The Reveal that Felicity only acted as The Calculator to infiltrate the bad guys; up to now, the implication that her obsessive behavior in the present day might lead to a Faceā€“Heel Turn, or at least a turn to well-meaning extremism, had a lot of potential for her growth as a character, but it turns out that she's basically the same person in the future that she is in the present, if older and somewhat less energetic.
  • Unintentionally Unsympathetic: While she does have legitimate issues with Felicity's parenting, Mia's rant against Felicity makes her sound incredibly childish and self-centered; her complaints about Felicity putting heroism ahead of her family might have held a bit more water if Felicity's current bout of "playing hero" wasn't about saving millions of innocent lives.
