• Ass Pull: There are several Contrived Coincidences just to shoehorn Tina as the next Black Canary, the most obvious being her real name "Dinah Drake" despite the fact that said character technically already appeared.
• Just Here for Godzilla: The only positive things people agree on in this episode are the helicopter fight scene and the Talia Al-Ghul scenes in the flashback.
• Narm: After Sonus clearly demonstrates metahuman capabilities on Oliver, Rene, and Tina, we get this following dramatic line before going to commercial:
  Oliver: He's a metahuman too.
• Replacement Scrappy: The episode officially shoehorned Tina to be the next Black Canary at the expense of Black Siren, the favorite to be Laurel's Black Canary successor.
