- Designated Hero: May actually be intentional, because the film doesn't reveal that Fog didn't rob the bank until near the end. During his journey, Fog burns down an Indian temple, watches it burn to the ground (with the cultists still inside), and threatens one captain with a revolver. Yet he gets out of jail after he is found innocent of bank robbery.
- Designated Villain: Fix goes through a lot of Amusing Injuries, but he is just trying to do his job. He literally couldn't have known that Fogg had an Identical Stranger.
- Retroactive Recognition: The Finnish actor for Fog would later voice the other cartoon animal Fog.
- Values Dissonance: The amount of National Stereotypes can be surprising to someone who happens to stumble on the film nowadays. However, it does play with American and British stereotypes, and at least in one case only a foreigner plays them straight; in Hong Kong, only Fix in disguise talks in Japanese Ranguage, while everyone else speaks normally.
