- Base-Breaking Character: Kanata Nijo in particular is either beloved by people who are interested to see how his relationship with his twin brother develops, or they absolutely despise him for being manipulative and want him to stay as far away from his brother as possible.
- Broken Base: εpsilonΦ. Is the band too unrealistic and too edgy, even for the Darker and Edgier tone the franchise is taking, or are they an extremely interesting band that has the potential for major character growth?
- Diagnosed by the Audience: Ren is bad at making and keeping friends, doesn’t talk much unless he feels the need to, has a major interest in tokusatsu and gets excited talking about it, and in episode 1 of the anime, he sings the same song at karaoke over and over again in hopes of getting better at singing it. Additionally, he seems to have difficuty identifying and reacting to social cues, like how Nayuta’s hostile personality seems to fly over his head. All of this indicates the possibility of him being on the Autism spectrum.
- Fandom Rivalry: Predictably has one with its older sister franchise BanG Dream! due to it being an all male spin-off of the franchise.
- Fanon Discontinuity: Before becoming its own thing, die-hard BanG Dream! fans are very unhappy with this male spinoff ever since its reveal, to the point where they pretend that it never exists. One major problem is because of the possible unwanted shippings between the female and male band members. After their reveal, Bushiroad president Takaaki Kidani quickly tried to quell the hate by stating that there would be no crossover between the groups despite sharing the same brand and that the males were in an Alternate Universe. Ironically, he would share the same feeling as them years later, as he mentioned that he didn't like seeing the girls with boys other than their fathers or relatives. He would eventually remove the BanG Dream name from the male spinoff, much to the relief of (some of) fans of the original.
- Friendly Fandoms:
- To a minor extent, to BanG Dream! due to the same reasons as seen in Fandom Rivalry as well as some fans of both would do a Crossover Ship between Ren and Kasumi.
- With most other popular male character oriented video game franchises such as THE iDOLM@STER: SideM, Ensemble Stars! and IDOLiSH7.
- With Band Yarouze!, despite Band Yarouze! ending their game services, the fans of both series got along due to their similar concepts of male rock bands with their own individual stories and some fans of Argonavis are former Band Yarouze! players, which helps the two fandoms to get along well. It also helps that Argonavis (with Fantôme Iris and Gyroaxia) later had a collaborative live show with Band Yarouze! (With OSIRIS) in January 2024.
- Surprisingly, they also share a sizable amount of fans of Magic: The Gathering in Japan, to the point there's a memetic act for matching certain poses, either from the anime, merchandise, or formerly active AAside's CG illustrations with similiar
poses
one of
the cards.
- Ho Yay: With a Cast Full of Pretty Boys, this was inevitable. However, the ship that seems to be getting the most content is Nayuta/Ren.
- I Knew It!:
- The minute he debuted in the manga, many fans correctly theorized that Koga Iryuu was Nayuta's father.
- Several fans also correctly guessed that Shu and Aoi are related, as it's revealed in "Raison d'être -Wailing Song-" voice drama that they're half-brothers.
- Incest Yay Shipping: There are some fans who ship Haruka and Kanata together, even with the toxic nature of their relationship, though it's mostly seen in the Japanese fandom. To a lesser extent, there are also some fans who ship Wataru with his older brother Kenta.
- Moe:
- Ren Nanahoshi, whose sweet, innocent demeanor and shy personality has made him beloved among the fanbase.
- Aoi Wakakusa, a Tsundere who also happens to be very Prone to Tears.
- Shocking Moments: Banri getting involved in a truck accident that destroys his scooter was definitely a surprise to many fans, especially considering the generally quiet nature of the anime.
- Periphery Demographic: While Argonavis is a Shounen targeted work, it has also attracted both fujoshi and yumejoshi due to the Cast Full of Pretty Boys.
- The Woobie:
- Yuto Goryo. Despite his otherwise Hot-Blooded and optimistic demeanor, he’s actually extremely insecure about his guitar skills, secretly thinks he’s a burden to Argonavis, and believes he’s the reason his original band broke up. What doesn’t help matters is that his family looks down on him for straying from the path he was expected to follow.
- Haruka Nijo. Constantly subjected to emotional abuse from his own twin brother? Check. Has no friends (aside from Yamato and Ren) because of said brother? Check. Dysfunctional bandmates are of no help to him, not helped by the fact that There Are No Therapists? Check.
