- Diagnosed by the Audience: Probably the most common piece of fanon in the entire series is the idea that Hooper, with her intellectual brilliance, social awkwardness, tendency to repeat herself verbatim, and most importantly, severe lack of a sense of humor to the extent she's able to flat-out No-Sell the Grinner's Laughing Mad powers, likely has some kind of neurodivergence. Notably this isn't just for representation's sake, but also because it makes the story stronger. Instead of Hooper being immune to the Grinner... just because... it actually makes more sense for her immunity to him being the result of her brain working differently that the average person's.
- Unintentional Period Piece: The plot, and especially the ending where Ethan becomes a famously successful comic artist, plants this episode firmly in the 90's, when the Speculator Boom was in full swing. Nowadays, having an episode centered around western comic books is considered laughable, as manga and web comics have eclipsed their popularity and sales numbers.
