  • Americans Hate Tingle: Architects have had this issue with American metal fans:
    • When they first started out, they had a rough time winning over listeners in America, and even noted they were losing money whenever they toured the states. By 2013, there was serious debate that they would stop touring America all together. Thankfully, after they found their sound with Lost Forever // Lost Together, they won over many fans in America and would tour there for years to come.
    • Their 2022 album the classic symptoms of a broken spirit was a dud in America. Architects was already suffering a Broken Base due to their genre shift from metalcore to alternative and industrial metal on For Those Who Wish to Exist, and the follow up only worsened the issues. For comparison, the classic symptoms of a broken spirit went to number 8 on Australian Albums (Aria) and number 1 on UK Rock and Metal Albums (OCC) whereas it only went to number 24 on Billboard’s Hard Rock Albums. Architects only did one North American tour on the album and have mostly stuck to touring Europe and Australia. It should also be noted that both albums didn't make much of a splash in Asia.
  • Broken Base: Quite a bit:
    • Holy Hell. Some think it's an Even Better Sequel to All Gods Have Abandoned Us and showed the band could continue strong after Tom Searle's tragic passing. Others think that it was just left overs from the previous album and suffers from a case of It's the Same, So It Sucks.
    • For Those Who Wish To Exist and classic symptoms of a broken spirit for similar reasons. Where they bold new directions for the band that stuck the landing, desperate attempts to stay relevant after the 2010's finished, or good ideas that needed some polishing? As noted above, reception depended on the region. Europe and Australia loved both albums, but America and Asia weren't too hot into either of them.
    • Josh Middleton joining. While no one can deny his talents on the guitar, there was debate if he was a good fit music wise. Middleton either brought new ideas to the table, or he wasn't able to use his shredding and heavier style of playing well with his time in Architects. Not helping is Middleton joining during the Genre Shift towards Alternative Metal and Industrial Metal after Holy Hell. This isn't getting into his main act Sylosis being put into Part-Time Hero status during his time with Architects. Whatever the case, he ended up leaving Architects in 2024 due to Creative Differences.
    • The Sky, the Earth & All Between. Its either a much needed return to form after several failed experiments or a desperate attempt to go back to their older sound to ride the wave of other metalcore bands going heavier (such as Knocked Loose or We Came As Romans).
  • Growing the Beard: Architects were always talented musicians, but they had a hard time standing out. Once Lost Forever // Lost Together dropped, they quickly established themselves as one of the biggest metalcore acts of the 2010's.
  • Memetic Mutation: "BLEGH!!!" Explanation
  • Signature Song: "Doomsday" with "Animals" at a close second.
  • Tear Jerker:
    • Basically all of All Gods Have Abandoned Us, as the whole album is Tom Searle coming to terms with his skin cancer and knowing his time is limited. "Memento Mori" in particular reads like a long goodbye message from Tom, saying that life is worth living for.
    • "Doomsday" was the last song Tom wrote, and the lyrics are about the band moving on after his passing.
