YMMV / Aquaman: King of Atlantis

Go To

  • Big-Lipped Alligator Moment: The song Aquaman sings in Primordius about how fish always come to his command. Informative, but out of nowhere. Especially considering it comes almost immediately after Ocean Master is kidnapped by the Fisherman.
  • Broken Base: Whether the series is watchable or not is up to debate by the fanbase. Fans of it enjoy it for it Revisiting the Roots and its rather humorous and interesting journey, detractors despise it due to sharing the same crew, artstyle, and humor with Thundercats Roar and — due to how infamous that series was — was turned off from the show.
  • Ensemble Dark Horse: Ocean Master in these specials, due to his Narm Charm and rather goofy demeanor. His attempts at trying to be evil and immediately failing and him mostly being an annoying nuisance to Aquaman and Co. makes him pretty funny as well. Bonus points that he's voiced by none other than Dana Snyder.
  • Fan Nickname: Is usually called "Aquaman Roar" or "Aquaman Go" due to having a similar artstyle to Thundercats Roar and taking a more humoristic approach.
  • Just Here for Godzilla: Most people came to watch these specials just to see Dana Snyder as Ocean Master.
  • Older Than They Think: Fans who don't read the comics will have no idea who Pyotr Mortikov/Scavenger is. He's a recurring villain that's mostly on the Aquaman comics. However, in this incarnation he's an Alternate Universe version of Peter Mortimer. Considering most incarnations uses Black Manta or Ocean Master more than him, it makes sense why Mortikov isn't as known as them.
