  • Fan-Preferred Couple: Alex/Elle was popular amongst a decent amount of the fandom.
  • Harsher in Hindsight: The girls put Alex and Sandy through an "initiation" that involves forcing them to watch yaoi anime while tied to chairs, taking pictures of them spooning, and forcing them to shower together despite their clear discomfort at the idea, all of which is played for laughs. Since the manga was published, hazing, especially in school settings, has come under considerable fire for being abusive and cruel, with sexual abuse being a common accusation leveled at school organizations that practice hazing.
  • Ho Yay: Sanae has a crush on Nina. In fact, in the epilogue, she (somehow) manages to sleep with Nina and Elle, much to the shock of the latter two.
  • Moe: Morgan, Sanae, and Kimberly Ann
  • Strangled by the Red String: Several readers felt this way about the Morgan/Alex pairing, preferring Alex to end up with Elle, whom they felt he had better chemistry and tension with. That said, there were hints that Alex and Morgan were crushing on each other, but numerous side characters saying they "made a cute couple" made it seem more forced than was probably intended.
  • Unintentional Period Piece:
    • This webcomic is a time capsule of what American anime fandom was like in the late 2000s. Numerous references are made to anime that have since declined in relevance (one of the main rival groups at Hatsu-Con is dedicated solely to Haruhi Suzumiya) or anime that remained big after this webcomic ended but were in their Early-Installment Weirdness phase (the Naruto references are all based on when the series was first gaining popularity in North America, so they focus on what Naruto and Sasuke were like as of the end of the Land of Waves arc).
    • The idea of a Fanservice contest (as opposed to a normal Cosplay contest) can come off as skeevy nowadays. Oh, and one of the judges for the contest is Pedo-Bear, a 4Chan meme that more or less died out after 2012.
