- Awesome Music: The opening, "Yokan
", is a whimsical and happy melody that captures the depths of Anne's inquisitiveness. Tota's diverse vocal range is shown by the singing initially sounding like Bedroom Pop before turning more excitable and cocky, and the gorgeous harp strummings in-between are just lovely. - Fan Nickname: Because of his resemblance to him, fans have taken to call the unnamed doctor who treats Anne in Episode 5 as "Doctor Abraham Lincoln".
- Narm: The scene where Anne falls off Diana's roof is treated with all the seriousness it deserves, but the way Anne is animated when it actually happens looks less like she slipped and fell off and more like she intentionally jumped off in a comically cartoony manner, making it hard to take the whole affair as seriously as all the characters do.
- Pacing Problems: One of the biggest criticisms fans of the book and the 1979 anime have against this iteration is that it covers the first book at an extremely accelerated pace, with each episode covering about four chapters of the book per episode. This has resulted in some characters such as Mrs. Allan, Jerry Buote, and Aunt Josephine being reduced to little more than brief cameos, and many chapters, such as the liniment cake incident and Anne and Diana's trip to the city being left out entirely. This is likely due to the series covering both Anne of Avonlea and Anne of the Island as well. Fans also feel the accelerated pace doesn't allow the interactions between the characters to feel as organic and impactful as other adaptations.
- Tear Jerker: Ruby's tearful breakdown over her inevitable death by tuberculosis in episode 19, more so when she admits to Anne that she had known all summer that she doesn't have long to live and was only pretending to be cheerful and oblivious about it. She also says she's wanted to tell Anne about this for a while, since she always liked Anne best out of their childhood friend group.
