  • Adaptation Displacement: The 2021 version released on Steam is much more well known than the original 2016 version.
  • Awesome Music: The entire soundtrack of 2021 is filled to the brim with upbeat Mappy-seque chip-tunes that go hand in hand with the arcade gameplay. The theme to Lava Factory is especially a bop thanks to its funky beat.
  • Breather Level: Venom Den, the final level, is only a challenge because Ice Grave and Lava Factory have a nasty habit of sucking lives out of you. There are no difficult platforming challenges, most of the area is made up of straightways that make vaulting over the Venom Brood easier, and the gimmick that replaces the lava geysers and wind from the previous two levels are... crumbling blocks that just open the level up more. The only thing the game does to up the ante here is make the Venom Brood move quicker, which isn't too challenging given the level design makes it easy to vault them most of the time.
  • Difficulty Spike: After the moderately easy Jungle, the Lava Factory world brings forward a massive difficulty increase through fire traps that block off parts of the level with deadly pillars of fire, more dastardly tunnel placement, and conveyor belts that throw off Annalynn's movement speed and jumps. The next world, the Ice Grave, initially lets up on the difficulty before increasing it again, and the difficulty sticks for the endgame, though it abates somewhat for the final level before kicking into high gear for the boss.
  • Fanon Welding: A common piece of Fanon is that this game shares a universe with Antonball Deluxe and ANTONBLAST due to Anton's appearance in this game. Cruise Elroy has denied this, however.
  • Friendly Fandoms: With ANTONBLAST, due to the player characters from both games cameoing in each other's games, as well as Annalynn's creator popularizing a Crossover Ship between Annalynn and Annie from ANTONBLAST.
  • Hilarious in Hindsight: This fan animation has Annalynn speak in the voice of Elspeth using audio from this video. As of the April 18, 2022 update, Elspeth would become the official voice actress of Annalynn.
  • Moe: Annalynn herself has a very simple, yet appealing design that looks incredibly adorable.
  • Nightmare Fuel
    • Falling into a Bottomless Pit while voice clips are turned on will result in Annalynn flat-out screaming as she falls to her death.
    • Similarly, if you fall into a body of water, you get to hear Annalynn struggling to breathe while the death theme plays.
  • Spiritual Successor: To Pac-Man and Mappy, from the main gameplay, the snakes' characteristics, and the demo sequence. 2021 adds Pac-Man Arrangement with the different level themes and a final boss mech piloted by all of the snakes while also containing greater ties to Mappy through the bonus rounds in Random mode.
  • That One Level: Just before the aforementioned Difficulty Spike, the player is in for a rude entrance exam in the form of Round 6. Like the rest of the jungle levels, it's difficult to maintain a presence or even breach the top half of the level given the sheer number of tunnels the Venom Brood control to get back up there quickly if they ever leap off, only this time the prevalence of Bottomless Pits means you need to take your chances on the upper level or navigate using the treacherous ropes, which are utterly jank to use to get anywhere. The Blinding Rubies at each side of the map are especially sadistic given you need to use ropes or already be at the top of the level to reach them with any degree of safety, and the finicky nature of the ropes means you might shave off precious milliseconds working to fight your way to each Blinding Ruby against a sea of Venom Brood.
  • That One Sidequest: Unlocking extra color palettes for Annalynn requires you to play every level excluding the final boss perfectly (kick off all four snakes per ruby and get the item that appears partway through all on one life). While you can play in Practice mode after clearing the game once to instantly retry levels without having to resort to reaching and perfecting them in the main game, many of the later levels are very challenging to get Perfects on, especially once you get to the Lava Factory and the game throws everything and the kitchen sink at you alongside nerfing blue snake times to the point where the entire Venom Brood must be bunched together as closely as possible before you grab a Blinding Ruby and kick them off. Making matters worse is that Mike loves to play spoiler. Each member of the Brood has a different pathing algorithm, though Randy, Candy, and Handy can be manipulated just by standing still in one spot. Mike, however, is just as likely to go with the entire Venom Brood down one tunnel as he is to go to far above or below your position, which makes wrangling him a pain.
