• They Wasted a Perfectly Good Character: Erza switching roles with Mirajane would have been interesting with Erza taking Mira's canon role as a former S-Class who'd repressed her magic due to trauma and ended up keeping order as the barmaid. However the author didn't do this, leaving Erza with a very muddled role compared to more straightforwards switchouts like Natsu and Gajeel or Gray and Lyon. The problem is that Mira absorbs Erza's canon role while retaining most of her own role as well with Lisanna taking what was left. This leaves Erza something of a Flat Character who largely just floats around outside of fights with none of the characterization Mirajane got in canon. It feels like the author had no idea what to do with her, so she's just vaguely there.
