YMMV / Akane no Guilty Crown

Go To

  • Big-Lipped Alligator Moment: In Chapter VIII, while Heath is sleeping in the train, he has a dream of two Cognitive Ayases seducing him and are about to go further, till the real Ayase interrupts and wakes him up. The part was never brought up again upon the group arrives in Sakai.
  • Harsher in Hindsight: Ayase infected by the Apocalypse Virus from Mana's bite before cured by Inori’s presence when Chapter XVII was posted in 4/2/22. Days later, Kana Hanazawa is diagnosed with COVID.
    • Following Billy Kametz's passing in June 2022, this story's series fauxnale tones marked the final time Maruki's voice is heard by that actor since his appearance in Chapter XV when it was uploaded months prior.
  • Heartwarming in Hindsight: Shackles of Guilt would have had a Spanish translated story till it sadly did not happen. Akane no Guilty Crown years later finally has one for the fandom at last.
    • In GuiltyKingOumaShu's Discord server (named the Kingdom of Eden), the author mentioned back in 4/13/2018, "Princess Hanae's favorite animals are dragons. Her dream is to one day find the archaeological remains of a dragon, since she is convinced that they existed alongside dinosaurs, even if they might have ended up going extinct alongside them." Flashforward to the final chapter released in June 2022, a loose form of this finally happens when the infant Hanae sees a hybrid dinosaur (Sougo the Fafnir rex) with the name of a Norse dragon.
  • Hilarious in Hindsight: Back in Reclaiming the Throne's developments, Daryl would have appear in becoming Inori's servant and can become a crystal dragon, but the author nixed the idea due to fear of stretching the sci-fi genre too much. Here in Akane no Guilty Crown in Chapter XVII, Gai becomes a dragon in serving Mana.
  • Moral Event Horizon: Arisa upon siding with GHQ and Da'ath, betrays Shu and his friends by spreading the rumor of Inori's murder of the students. Then manipulates half of the student body for a coup d'état, resulting in a massive civil war that costs student lives. All this so she can have Gai to herself.
  • Rescued from the Scrappy Heap: This is taken to a degree to Shu Ouma himself, going from a coward at the start of the canon anime, to a braver personality for this reboot.
  • Signature Scene: Shu and Funeral Parlor fighting an experimental Giganotosaurus in Chapter I. Yes, the resistance fighting a theropod dinosaur is one of the first major additions of fighting something different from Endlaves.
