- Alas, Poor Scrappy: Surprisingly, people actually felt bad for Jar Jar when it turned out he was ousted from the Imperial senate, exiled from Otoh Gunga again and isolated by humans and gungan alike, forced to live out his days as a clown at a refugee center (he is loved by children, yet adults hate him) and felt guilty for supporting Palpatine's emergency powers all the way back in Attack of the Clones, as it contributed to the transition of the Republic into the Empire. The fact that Jar Jar's actor, Ahmed Best, thought of suicide over the backlash also made fans even more sympathetic to the character.
- Narm: There's a senator Grelka Sorka, whose pet is kidnapped by Black Sun to blackmail her into voting against sending the New Republic Starfleet to Jakku. A massive case of Skewed Priorities and Silver Age comic book villainy that's hard to take seriously.
- Take That, Scrappy!: Jar Jar's tragic predicament in-universe is meant to evoke both this and pity for him at the same time.
- Unexpected Character: Given that Jar Jar had never been mentioned in any canon material after the reboot, his cameo here is fairly surprising.
YMMV / Aftermath: Empire's End
