- Animation Age Ghetto: Some parents have shown their children Not Without My Handbag or Pib and Pog under the impression that all of the studio's work was as appropriate for children as the Wallace & Gromit films, and were pleasently surprised that this was not the case.
- Older Than They Think: Those who griped at the studio making CGI films were presumably unaware that they had been making CGI commercials years prior.
- They Changed It, Now It Sucks!: Part of the reaction to the studio's CGI efforts. Few deny that the quality of the films outside the animation are of the standard of their claymation efforts, and the CGI is designed to heavily resemble their other work, but some took this to be the studio's original sin. The heads of Aardman noted they understand the reaction, but are keen to explore other styles of animation.
- Uncanny Valley: A lot of the studio's character designs tend to fall under this, usually owing to some exaggerated features but also their insistence to keep the imperfections in their clay puppets while animating them, which can be both distracting and unsettling.
