• Arc Fatigue:
  • Arc Stall: The part in which Koyuki and Konatsu struggle with the former changing, culminating in the two not speaking from late in Chapter 25 to midway through Chapter 27 was an angsty section that some readers felt went on too long for their tastes.
  • Myth Stall: As mentioned under Broken Base, the progression of Koyuki and Konatsu's relationship can be this for those who expect and hope that they will eventually become a couple. More than two dozen monthly chapters in, and about a year of in-universe time later (resulting in Koyuki advancing to her final year of high school), relatively little progress has been made.
• Broken Base: The fanbase is divided over whether the relationship between Konatsu and Koyuki is supposed to be platonic friendship with lesbian subtext, or whether they're meant to eventually become a lesbian couple. Many in the latter camp are disappointed with the apparent lack of progress on that front, although others hold out hope that they will eventually get a Relationship Upgrade, while the former camp is fine with them remaining friends. The controversy was reignited when the manga ended with Konatsu and Koyuki having a close but still apparently platonic friendship.
• Diagnosed by the Audience: Some readers speculate that Koyuki is on the autism spectrum, since while her issues with social interaction can partially be attributed to being pressured to be a model student, she also has difficulty considering Konatsu's feelings.
• Heartwarming Moments:
  • After one of Koyuki's teachers catches her looking at her phone in class, he tells her father, who meets with her. Koyuki begs her father not to confiscate her phone until she hears from Konatsu again, and he not only agrees to her request, but has a heart-to-heart talk with her.
  • Koyuki and Konatsu's reconciliation in Chapter 27, with both of them acknowledging their flaws, and their failure to consider the other's perspective.
• Les Yay: Konatsu and Koyuki get so much of it that it's unclear whether their relationship merely has Homoerotic Subtext or they're actually in love with each other. While they're still very close, their relationship ultimately doesn't go beyond a Pseudo-Romantic Friendship by the end of the story.
• Moment of Awesome: Konatsu performing the amberjack show by herself when Koyuki falls ill.
• Values Dissonance: Some Western readers found Koyuki's school's ban on making stops on the way home to be overly strict, particularly since the school is attempting to regulate its students' lives when they're off the premises. For Japanese readers, though, it's mainly a matter of the school protecting its reputation.
