- Nightmare Fuel: The Mind Wars in the Silver Age. As the name implies, they are fought with far-future weaponry that can deform or obliterate the victim's mind. (Oh, and protecting your head isn't enough; the rays just need to find one unprotected ganglion.) The book doesn't go into a lot of detail about that era, but that might be for the best.
- Not So Crazy Anymore: The Forty-Two Century butter-pie bears a striking resemblance to a Twenty-One Century "lava cake" (a cake with a molten filling, such as melted chocolate or warm ganache). Both are equally delicious.
- Truth in Television: A 20th century version of butter-pie does exist, but not in the form that is in the story, being a form of potato and onion pie from Lancashire.
