A Quiet Place: Day One

Go To

  • Actor Shipping: Fans eagerly jumped to ship Lupita Nyong'o and Joseph Quinn together the moment the first teaser dropped due to the friendship and strong chemistry they showed during their public appearances together, including the film's press tour. Some even went so far as to hope for a romance between their characters, even though virtually next to nothing was known at the time about Sam and Eric's relationship.
  • Ensemble Dark Horse:
    • Frodo the cat. A lot of people consider him to be the real protagonist of the movie and are more concerned about his survival than the human characters. Some mentioned if he didn't make it, they'll riot. Even the movie's marketing is aware of this. Fortunately, Frodo did survive throughout the entire movie.
    • The siblings hiding from the monsters in the middle of a fountain only appear briefly, but are among the most praised survivors in the story.
  • Fan Nickname: The giant Death Angel that Eric encounters is known as the “Queen” or the “Big One.”
  • Genius Bonus:
    • The Lord of the Rings themed names foreshadow the ending of the movie. Frodo gets on a boat that is going to the peaceful lands in the West, along with friends he made on his adventure. Sam, meanwhile, stays behind and accepts ending her life in the lands she grew up in and considers home. And their last words in both movies: "I'm back."
    • Word of God states that the Death Angels use the corpses of those they kill to fertilize a fungus-like organism that serves as their true food source. This behavior is very similar to that of leafcutter ants; rather than eating the bits of leaves they cut off, they use them as fertilizer for a special type of fungus that feeds the colony in exchange for food and a safe place to grow.
  • Special Effect Failure: Cats Nico and Schnitzel play Frodo. The former is a white cat who was painted with nontoxic black dye to match his black-and-white co-star. However, promo shots featuring both cats show that the black patch on Nico's head stops right above and outside his eye area, while Schnitzel's markings overlap his eyes. This gives the impression that Frodo's markings change shapes throughout the movie.
