  • Harsher in Hindsight: Neon Dystopia comments on the show serving as propaganda for the militarization of the police and privatizing of public services. The fact the inspiration for the show turned out to have given up on the project early on and it only protected rich affluent neighborhoods in New Orleans doesn't help either.
  • Narm: In "Last Train to Europa", DV8's quoting Brave New World is probably supposed to make him sound like a major intellectual, but Brave New World doesn't actually feature a police state, so his attempts to connect it to the supposed police state that he thinks Gideon is setting up makes him look like an idiot. note
  • Unintentional Period Piece: Much like the The Simpsons episode "The Musk Who Fell to Earth," the show was written when there was still a widespread sense of revere and public adoration for tech billionaires in the United States. A combination of growing criticism of tech conglomerates and the multiple high profile controversies regarding police brutality make it far less likely that a major network would greenlight a show that depicts the privatization and militarization of the police at the hands of a tech tycoon as a good thing nowadays.
