Bobby Fish (full name Robert Anthony Fish, born October 27, 1976) and Kyle O'Reilly (born Kyle Greenwood on March 1, 1987) are a professional wrestling tag team which has been active since November 2012. Initially known for their run together in Ring of Honor, New Japan Pro-Wrestling, and other associated promotions under the name reDRagon, Fish and O'Reilly signed with WWE in 2017, initially making separate debuts on NXT programming before reforming their team alongside Adam Cole to launch The Undisputed Era. Both are currently signed to All Elite Wrestling, once again as reDRagon and reuniting with Cole.
The duo's gimmick is that of arrogant yet dangerous wrestlers with mixed martial arts elements incorporated into their mannerisms and moveset, with occasional sources of humor including O'Reilly's entrance antics and Fish's name. They are 2x IWGP Junior Heavyweight Tag Team Champions, 3x ROH World Tag Team Champions, 1x HRW (High Risk Wrestling) Tag Team Champions, and 2x NXT Tag Team Champions as part of Undisputed Era.* Individually during the duo's run together as a team, Fish is a 1x ROH World Television Champion and O'Reilly is a 1x ROH World Champion.
Chasing Trope Dragons:
- Accuser of the Brethren: Fans were happy to see the return of Austin Aries in 2015 only for O'Reilly to remind everyone Aries decided not to return to ROH with intent to quit wrestling after seeing The Wrestler.
- Ascended Fan Boy: Kyle O'Reilly was able to have a match with Kazushi Sakuraba thanks to ROH's deal with NJPW.
- Affably Evil: In ROH, Fish loved the Code of Honor, especially the handshaking part.
- Air Guitar: One of O'Reilly's most consistent character quirks, particularly on NXT, is him playing air guitar on his title, sometimes even tuning it like a real guitar. He must really dig that "Undisputed" theme.
- Alliterative Name: Fish was once known as Jerk Jackson, unrelated to Matt and Nick, though they did give him many super kicks. He began working under his real name in Pro Wrestling NOAH, how long did it take you to figure out why?
- Animal Motifs: Fish for Bobby Fish.
- Arch-Enemy: The Young Bucks were this for a long time.
- Bash Brothers: Oh yeah. Aside from each other, Kyle has also had this with Adam Cole and Roderick Strong. However, when things went south with both of them due to yet another Adam Cole betrayal, Fish and O'Reilly maintained a healthy bond and respect for each other despite embarking on solo careers.
- Be Yourself: A lesson Fish learned in NOAH. Unfortunately for the rest of the roster, "yourself" in Fish's case is a giant troll.
- Beware the Silly Ones: Kyle may be a bit of a boyish kook, but he is also a deceptively strong striker and technical wrestler. Finn Bálor knew not to underestimate O'Reilly yet he still broke his jaw.
- Butt-Monkey: Kyle is often on the receiving end of hilarious yet painful moments such as hitting himself with a steel chair (it seems to be becoming a Running Gag in WarGames matches).
- CamelCase: ReDragon(Rie Tamada and GAMI) had this before reDRagon, and following the example of the older Tag Team the DR presumably represents their desire to get rid of Davey Richards.
- Character Catchphrase: Those who feuded with reDRagon were said to be "Chasing the Dragon" or that they "Chase the Dragon". Incidentally, "Chasing the Dragon" is also the name of their Finishing Move.
- Combat Commentator: Bobby was told on Supercard of Honor X that he had to go the commentary table and stay there if he wanted to stick around after his match was over.
- Commuting on a Bus: Bobby spent a good chunk of 2018 inactive, owing to a knee injury, but still appeared with Kyle and the rest of The Undisputed Era in backstage segments.
- Continuity Nod: Fish's Red Baron "The Infamous One" is to his first ROH tag team, "Infamous Talent" with Scott Cardinal.
- Distressed Dude: As the smallest member of Undisputed Era, Kyle finds himself the most frequent target for their rivals to take out their frustrations on. When Bobby's there, teamwork is security and the fall guy role goes to Roddy Strong.
- Ear Ache: O'Reilly suffered an injury that required his ear to be regularly drained, an injury Adam Cole, Gedo and Kazuchika Okada were all too happy to aggravate.
- Expy: Fish is basically Dan McLeod with a mouthpiece.
- Fascinating Eyebrow: Bobby Fish has the best eyebrow in wrestling aside from The Rock.
- Finishing Move: Chasing the Dragon, a brainbuster by O'Reilly triggered with a roundhouse kick to the opponent's head by Fish.
- Friend to All Children: They claimed to serve as role models to all the children of North America. And especially North Korea. Do you understand these kids learned English on their own to correspond with Fish and O'Reilly?
- I Know Karate:
- Fish has a black belt in Tae Kwon Do and has competed in Muay Thai kick boxing. He's also done mixed martial arts for Cage Wars in New York.
- O'Reilly is well-versed in both Brazilian jiu-jitsu and Muay Thai as well.
- Jack of All Stats:
- Fish is primarily a striker, but he can turn just about any contact situation into a leg lock. Then there are his rolling sentons, sometimes with a slingshot, as well as his top rope moonsault (ode to Muta). He's legitimately proficient in Muay Thai and kickboxing, enough to have been an official competitor in both sports, and in WWE he's made more use of his power wrestling game.
- O'Reilly, meanwhile, is a black belt in Brazilian ju-jitsu and also does Muay Thai, and has been known for his striking and submission skills. He also has a fairly strong suplex arsenal and while he's not known for his aerial moves, has been known to pull out a top-rope elbow drop and a flying high knee off the ring apron.
- Jerkass: The two liked picking on ROH trainee Cheeseburger, though they did shake his hand after he and Roderick Strong forced reDRagon to get serious in a tag team match, even if Strong didn't think it was genuine.
- Lucky Charms Title: The "infamous" on Fish's tights uses a star instead of an "a".
- Manly Facial Hair: Fish's well-groomed Van Dyke beard, which makes him look more like a turn-of-the-century grappler than a 21st-century wrestler.
- Name of Power: When Bobby Fish does a high knee, it's a Flying Fish Hook. When he does a heel hook, it's the Fish Hook Deluxe Edition.
- The Napoleon: O'Reilly used to jump at anything even resembling a shot at the IWGP Heavyweight Title even though he is not in the heavyweight bracket, specifically because he was not in the heavyweight bracket but was convinced he could make everyone in it tap out.
- No-Sell: The match against Roderick Strong and the debuting Cheeseburger was a textbook case of how maximizing this trope can backfire on a Smug Snake. O'Reilly barely reacted to any of Cheeseburger's holds until Cheeseburger found he could hurt O'Reilly with a wrist lock. Rather than get serious after breaking out of it, O'Reilly continued to mock his diminutive opponent with a challenge to a test of strength, which Cheeseburger instead turned into a double wrist lock. Later, O'Reilly had an exchange of strikes with Strong that left them both staggering, and Fish looked to capitalize only for Cheeseburger to try to cut him off. Fish was not amused and, unlike O'Reilly earlier, Just Hit Him. Caused enough of distraction for Strong to recover and fight off both for awhile though. It wasn't until Cheeseburger nearly scored a pinfall on Fish that O'Reilly started taking the match seriously, although Burger was put away quickly after that.
- Not So Similar: Bobby Fish has self confidence, Roderick Strong is insecure, according to Bobby Fish. Proving his point, he goaded Strong into trying to go move for move with Tomohiro Ishii at Honor Rising Japan. Ishii would snatch Roddy's title for this.
- O.O.C. Is Serious Business: O'Reilly stopped himself from playing Air Guitar at his entrance at NXT TakeOver: New Orleans, since Fish was out injured and was replaced by Adam Cole, who was weakened from having wrestled a ladder match for the NXT North American Championship earlier that night, meaning that their title reign was in serious trouble.
- Overshadowed by Awesome: At the 2015 War Of The Worlds, both O'Reilly and his opponent, Tetsuya Naito, were accomplished tag team wrestlers with some singles success. At Global Wars, Naito had risen to the top of the pro wrestling world with Los Ingobernables de Japón, O'Reilly wasn't even at the top of ROH, thanks to his heated rival Adam Cole.
- Power Stable: Fish and O'Reilly are the usual resident tag team of The Undisputed Era, which was initially a Power Trio with Adam Cole until Roderick Strong joined in.
- Red Baron:
- Fish has The Infamous One, The Short Arm Samurai, and The Burden, though O'Reilly tried making The Dalai Lama Yoko Hama a thing.
- O'Reilly wanted to be known as The Ambassador of Kickassador. It hasn't caught on, and he was forced to settle with a much simpler moniker of The Violent Artist.
- Red Oni, Blue Oni: O'Reilly's the red, Fish is the blue.
- Shout-Out: O'Reilly tends to follow an axe kick with a forearm smash.
- Signature Move:
- O'Reilly has a butterfly suplex rolled into another and then a double underhook sat out face buster. He also likes the axe kick-forearm smash combo.
- Fish has the superplex and the senton atomico. He used to utilize the moonsault and the avalanche Falcon Arrow in Ring of Honor, but hasn't pulled either move out in a while.
- For both, the Double Dragon (a gutbuster from O'Reilly chained into a wheelbarrow suplex from Fish), tandem roundhouse kicks to the front and back of an opponent, and Total Elimination (low sweep kick from O'Reilly at the same time as a high spinning heel kick or Slingblade from Fish).
- Small Name, Big Ego: This was their stock and trade as a team well before they and Adam Cole decided to brand themselves an era all their own.
- Smug Snake: After losing the IWGP Junior Heavyweight titles, Fish bought Roderick Strong a beer, so Strong would have something to drown his sorrows with, being his next opponent.
- Tag Team: Both have been on their fair share of duos, but are at their absolute best with each other.
- Talk Show with Fists: The Fish Tank. It's got a
paper thin budget, even when he's holding a title belt. - The Man Behind the Man: After Shayna Baszler showed up to help reDRagon retain the ROH Tag Titles against the Young Bucks, O'Reilly and Fish declared that not only had they been training with her, but that she had been the mastermind behind the team the entire.
- Theme Naming: Naturally, Bobby's moves are littered with fish-related names.
- Took a Level in Badass: This team represents this for Fish, as he spent much of his early career as a jobber before turning up in 2012 a much more credible threat alongside O'Reilly.
- Troll: Bobby Fish's middle name. Virtually incapable of not trash-talking an opponent or instigating with referees. O'Reilly can occasionally engage in this, on a much milder level.
- We Used to Be Friends:
- reDRagon was actually launched by Kyle O'Reilly entering a very interesting phase of this with both Adam Cole and Davey Richards. He and Cole were longtime tag team partners under the name Future Shock, while Richards and Eddie Edwards were famous as the American Wolves. Both teams split up at the same time, only for O'Reilly and Richards to promptly team up under the name Team Ambition. Later, after Team Ambition were beaten by their former partners, O'Reilly would develop an arrogant streak in which he antagonized Cole with dirty tactics and then declared his intention to go after Richards, who he finally turned on by cheap-shotting him and then administering a two-on-one beating with the help of his new tag team partner, a much more dangerous Bobby Fish. Later, Cole reached the top of ROH and instantly became the ultra-arrogant heel Panama City Playboy; however, reDRagon would not interact with Cole much, instead later undergoing a gradual Heel–Face Turn. At one point Cole teased leaving his egocentric heel stable The Kingdom to realign with O'Reilly and Fish, only for it to be a bait-and-switch when Cole screwed O'Reilly out of the ROH World Championship so he could later win it back for himself, successfully doing so after aligning with Bullet Club and The Elite. Naturally, Kyle attacked Cole during his celebration and the two reignited their feud, taking turns beating each other for the Championship. Evidently the three patched up their issues for real on their way to NXT, leading to the most dominant stable in the brand's history, The Undisputed Era.
- Speaking of Undisputed ERA, things reverted back to this trope as Adam Cole engaged in Breaking the Fellowship in 2021 by betraying their mutual respect with Worthy Opponent Finn Bálor and then targeting O'Reilly himself, all while Fish was injured. Roderick Strong tried to keep things together only to be also betrayed by Cole, and O'Reilly subsequently wanted nothing to do with the ERA as a brand, putting Strong off so much he quit NXT in disgust. Fish, however, averted this with his return involving making a save for O'Reilly against Oney Lorcan and Pete Dunne, but with both men recognizing and respecting one another's desire to go solo and settle individual scores.
- White Gangbangers: O'Reilly's biggest issue with Homicide breaking his fingers was his inability to do gang signs. Fortunately it healed up, as evidenced by the UE symbol they and their stablemates do on NXT, which vaguely resembles the "Westside" and "Too Sweet" signals of the Wolfpac combined and inverted.
