The Howling Huntress

Tamara McNeill is a retired American Professional Wrestler from Brooklyn, NY known for her work in CHIKARA as Saturyne and who competed as Hania the Howling Huntress from 2013-2018. As Aurora D'Amore, she seconded the Academy of Anatomy (Mark Angel [Mark Angelosetti] and Nick Talent) for their victory over KJ Crush and Matt Tremont at Beyond Wrestling Ring Leaders, Night I, June 18, 2011. She made her in-ring debut at the first Wrestling is Fun! event, on November 18, 2011, and debuted for CHIKARA on Night III of JoshiMania on December 4th. She competed for CHIKARA, FSW and a few of the Wrestling Is... promotions until she left after Aniversario: Never Compromise, which was the night of the shutdown. As Hania, she competed for WSU, AIW, Beyond Wrestling, Ring of Honor, Impact Wrestling and several other promotions. While she never won a title, as Saturyne she came in fifth for The Wrestling Observer Newsletter's "Rookie Of The Year" Award in 2012, behind Dinastia, Mark Angelosetti, Eita Kobayashi and ACH.

"Howling Tropes":

  • Action Girl: As Saturyne, she defeated Tim Donst, Missile Assault Ant, Kobald, Chuck Taylor and Jaka, and twice challenged "Mr. Touchdown" Mark Angelosetti for the CHIKARA Young Lions Cup.
  • Alliterative Name/Fun with Acronyms
    • Hania the Howling Huntress. AIW sometimes even called her "Triple H."
    • She was a member of BLOW(itself an example) "stable" Strength In Numbers and teamed with Amber Rodriguez and Jessie Kaye at PWS Super Card 2014, June 7, 2014, one of the few times "Strength In Numbers" came close to living up to its name.
    • Her YouTube channel is titled FitFierceFun.
  • Amazonian Beauty: She competed in a few fitness modeling competitions before getting into wrestling, and her abs are something to see. Her Twitter and Instagram play up both the Amazonian part, with many pictures of her in the gym, and the Beauty part. On Instagram, she calls herself the "Shredded She-Wolf."
  • Advertisement:
  • Animal Motif: Wolves, of course. See Red Baroness below.
  • Audience Participation due to Hoist by His Own Petard/I Can't Do This by Myself: During her match with Tim Donst at CHIKARA The Ring of Wax, August 8, 2012, she hit a high cross body on Donst who was standing on the floor. Unfortunately, this meant that she still had to get Donst back into the ring and she couldn't lift him. So, she asked some guys in the front row to pick him up and throw him back in the ring for her.
  • Badass Boast/I Am the Noun: In the promo video for her match with Mandy Leon on the ROH Women of Honor Special, she said, "I am the most athletic woman in this business!"
  • Badass Cape: As Saturyne
  • Badass Native/Proud Warrior Race Girl: She's Blackfoot and Cherokee. She really plays up her heritage and anger about Native Americans' mistreatment throughout history on Twitter and Instagram. See also Precision F-Strike below.
  • Badass Teacher: In one of her last acts as Saturyne, she was one of ring announcer/commentator Gavin Loudspeaker's trainers at the CHIKARA Wrestle Factory for his match with Tim Donst at CHIKARA Aniversario: Never Compromise. In the match, Gavin even used her Rings of Saturyne hold at one point, and ultimately won with a Superplex.
  • Bare Your Midriff: Any of her outfits.
  • Berserk Button: She faced Eric Corvis at Beyond Wrestling Secret Show, February 14, 2014. During the match, Hania was beating on Corvis out on the floor while screaming, "RESPECT ME! RESPECT ME!," with the announcer talking about how she was fighting not just for herself but for all the women in Beyond Wrestling.
  • Braids, Beads and Buckskins: Well, not all the way, but she does wear a feather in her hair.
  • Bring It: What she is clearly telling her opponent in this picture.
  • By the Hair: How she defeated Mandy Leon on the ROH Women of Honor Special, June 25, 2015 (taped February 6th.)
  • Cardiovascular Love: This Instagram post is of her standing by a sign reading "I ♥ 80's" with a picture of Gizmo from the movie Gremlins at the top.
  • Charlie Brown from Outta Town: Inverted in WSU, where Saturyne won a contract and was never seen again while an oddly familiar woman named Jania mysteriously found her way onto the under card. This in turn lead to a straight example, as Niya Barela failed to get back to WSU and the mysterious Ezavel Suena showed up.
  • Chef of Iron: She shows off her cooking skills in this video from her YouTube channel.
  • Clucking Funny: This post of her holding a chicken.
  • Combat Pragmatist/Not Cheating Unless You Get Caught: Utilized Eddie Guerrero's Chair Fake routine to score a DQ victory over Athena at WSU Excellence, September 13, 2015, sending Athena out of WSU. It was advertised as an "Uncensored Rules" match, but Hania insisted that it be changed to a regular rules match.
  • Cool Mask: Subverted. As she explains in this interview, she hated the mask and was glad to get rid of it.
  • Corpsing: In the Hilarious Outtakes at the end of this video announcing the launch of her fitness channel on YouTube.
  • Curves in All the Right Places: This video from her YouTube channel features exercises to help women develop an hourglass figure.
  • Every Year They Fizzle Out: She competed in several tournaments and never won, and challenged for various titles without winning.
  • Expy/Legacy Character: Kris Wolf, who competed primarily for World Wonder Ring Stardom until she had to retire due to concussion issues, was like a cross between her and Solo Darling. She was billed from "The Deep Woods" and had a big wolf tail sticking out of her trunks, much like the squirrel tail Solo used before she and Travis Huckabee were put together in CHIKARA as the Rumblebees.
  • Face–Heel Turn: After Athena defeated her in the Tables Ladders and Chairs Match at WSU 8th Anniversary Show on February 21, 2015. After the match, Athena pulled Hania to her feet and they hugged. Hania then hit Athena with a chair and Flipped the Bird to the crowd.
    • Came into her match with Tessa Blanchard at QOC 5 as a heel, trash-talking and insulting the fans all the way. Then Tessa forced a ref bump and hit Hania with a chair for the win, thus turning herself heel.
  • Fan Art: As seen here.
  • Fan of the Past: This post shows the cover of Wham!'s Make It Big album, emphasizing the song "Everything She Wants," and features the hashtags, "#whenwhiteguyshadsoul," "#whenmusicwasgood" and "#whenmusicianshadtalent."
    • That said, many of the videos she posts to her Instagram do use more current music.
  • Fangirl: For Sara Del Rey, according to CHIKARA's announcers. Had a Big Damn Heroes moment after Obariyon of The Batiri defeated Sara at CHIKARA The Contaminated Cowl on April 29, 2012. His teammates Kodama and Kobald attacked Sara after the match, and Saturyne made the save.
  • Female Gaze: This Instagram post says that men who lift weights shouldn't "skip legday," since "Girls like nice butts too!!" Raised to funny because it's made to look like Britney Spears is reacting to SpongeBob SquarePants.
  • Finishing Move: Rings of Saturyne, Moonsault
  • Fragile Speedster: Early on, she had her share of injuries.
  • Friend to All Children: Posts pictures of herself with her younger fans.
  • Friend to All Living Things: Loves posting pictures of dogs.
  • Gamer Chick: In this Twitter post, she promises to turn Non Canon Crew into "a pile of crumbs on Tekken 7", and has mentioned The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild. She has her own channel on Twitch about her playing video games.
  • Geeky Analogy: At the start of her match with Tessa Blanchard (Tully's daughter) at QOC 5, which was held at the Mid-Atlantic Sportatorium in Gibsonville, NC, the announcers compared the match to Tully's past battles with Chief Wahoo McDaniel at the old Greensboro Coliseum.
  • Genius Bruiser: This post is about her working toward her science degree.
  • Gimmick Matches: Sara Del Rey and Saturyne defeated the Batiri (Obariyon, Kodama and Kobald) in a handicap mixed-tag match at CHIKARASaurus Rex: How to Hatch a Dinosaur on June 2, 2012 by DQ when Delirious interfered.
    • Athena defeated her in a Tables, Ladders and Chairs match at WSU 8th Anniversary Show on February 21, 2015.
  • Girly Bruiser/Real Women Have Curves: In this Tweet, she wrote, "Stay strong. But also stay feminine," and is accompanied by this Instagram post, focusing on pictures of her abs and her (clothed) butt.
  • Heh Heh, You Said "X": Said word for word in this workout video when she is doing kick backs and talking about "hitting" and "tapping" every angle on her glutes.
  • Heel–Face Turn: She initially set her sights on taking down then ROH rookie Mandy Leon, but decided to take Leon's side when Taeler Hendrix, who hated Leon on a much more personal level, butted in. This angle was Cut Short when TNA/GFW\Impact came calling, or rather it continued with Deonna Purrazzo inexplicably in Hania's place.
  • Heel–Face Revolving Door: A humorous example between Valkyrie Women's Wrestling, where Hania was a baby face up against La Rosa Negra's supposedly large and powerful organization and PWS BLOW, where La Rosa Negra was a Reverse Mole in the supposedly large and powerful organization Hania was a loyal member of. The two posed for a picture with then PWS rookie Vanity during the brief period they were "allies".
  • Hood Ornament Hottie: This post has her doing a sexy pose on an old WWF WrestleFest arcade game machine.
  • Humiliating Wager: Defeated Kimber Lee in a "Kiss My Foot" match at WiF! There is Always Money in the Banana Stand, April 28, 2013.
  • I Have Many Names: Aurora D'Amore, Saturyne, Jania, Hania the Howling Huntress
  • I Have the High Ground: She was an excellent high-flyer right from the start. In this installment of CHIKARA's "Throwdown Lowdown" YouTube series, hostess Sara Del Rey says, "This week we're joined by rookie sensation Saturyne as she does what she does best: Soars through the sky."
  • Insult to Rocks: She wrote about the Black Friday shopping frenzy, "I would say people act like animals on Black Friday but animals have more couth."
  • It Is Pronounced "Tro-PAY": Her name is pronounced "Ha-NYE-a".
  • I've Never Seen Anything Like This Before: During the match with Tessa Blanchard, Tessa went for Tully's Slingshot Suplex finisher and Hania escaped it, and the announcers had to say that it was the first time they'd ever seen someone counter a Slingshot Suplex.
  • Kick Chick: She defeated Jaka at WiF! Feliz Bananavidad on December 29, 2012 with a couple of spin kicks
  • Lampshade Hanging: At the start of the video announcing the launch of her YouTube channel, she refers to herself as a "former professional wrestler and personal trainer." Some people asked in the comments threads when she retired and she said that she hadn't but that she said it wrong for some reason and that it was probably "Take 3."
  • Lingerie Scene: A picture from a Bliz Photography shoot of her in her bra and panties was used as a centerfold in Fighting Spirit Magazine 124.
  • Long Hair Is Feminine: Long black hair down to her butt, as seen in this video.
  • Male Gaze: Invoked, in both her Workout Fanservice videos and the video mentioned above under Chef of Iron. In the latter, she is describing and demonstrating the various steps in the cooking process with the camera focused heavily on her chest, legs and butt.
  • Masked Luchadora: Until she abandoned it. See Red Baroness below.
  • Meaningful Name: Hania is Hopi for "Spirit Warrior." See Red Baroness below.
  • Meganekko: She wears glasses in this post, showing off her abs at the gym, and saying, "Yes, I wear glasses."
  • Mêlée à Trois: Defeated Alexia Nicole and Jasmin in one at SCW Bourne Again, November 9, 2014. (SCW= Squared Circle Wrestling.)
  • Ms. Fanservice: She's naturally beautiful, and her Instagram features several swimsuit and lingerie photos emphasizing her abs and her butt. Considering her fitness model background, and her wrestling outfits showing more and more skin as she continued, Hania has no problem showing off.
  • Noble Wolf: As Hania. See Red Baroness below.
  • Our Werewolves Are Different: She is "The She-Wolf."
  • Paper Tiger: When she arrived at Impact, she made a big effort to go after Rosemary, attacking her constantly, as well as winning matches over lesser talent. Once Rosemary got her in a fair match, however, Hania did not last very long, being dominated and finished off in under 5 minutes.
  • Parts Unknown:
    • (as Saturyne): "Outer Space"
    • (as Hania): "The Unseen Woods"
  • Pint-Sized Powerhouse: In this Instagram video, she points out she weighs 125 and is doing standing squats with a barbell that weighs 225.
  • Playboy Bunny: Dressed up as one in these pictures, calling herself "Bad News Bunny."
  • Precision F-Strike: In this Tweet from October 12, 2015, celebrating Indigenous Peoples' Day, one of the hashtags she listed was "#fuckColumbus".
  • Real Life Writes the Plot: Brittany Blake defeated her at WSU Power in the first round of the tournament to fill the vacated WSU Spirit Title on May 9, 2015. However, Allysin Kay, who had defeated Solo Darling, was unable to make it to WSU Control on July 11th. Hania was reinserted into the tournament, defeating, of all people, Brittany Blake, and went on to the finals where she lost to Leva Bates.
  • Red Baroness:
    • (as Saturyne): "The Intergalactic Luchadora"
    • (as Hania): "The She-Wolf," "The Spirit Warrior"
  • Religious Bruiser: Her Twitter posts sometimes just read "#thankYOUJESUS!"
  • Screaming Warrior: It's right there in her name! That said, her "howl" is distinct from her screams.
  • Screw This, I'm Outta Here!:Abandoned CHIKARA after Aniversario: Never Compromise, dropped the Saturyne gimmick and never looked back.
  • Sexy Walk: In this video of her walking in Ring of Honor. (That's Deonna Purrazzo in the background.)
  • Shaking the Rump: In this Instagram video, set to Gorillaz' "Feel Good Inc."
  • She-Fu: Used a lot of dives and kicks.
  • Spot of Tea: This Instagram post reads, "Tea Is Always A Good Idea."
  • Stepford Smiler: A Depressed as Saturyne. While she seemed happy to be teaming with Dasher Hatfield at Just Shadows in the Fog and generally smiled a lot while playing that character, she talks in the interview listed under Cool Mask about how miserable she was in that role.
  • That Woman is Dead: Averted. In the interview mentioned under Cool Mask, she said that Saturyne was a part of her that is now dead.
  • Third-Person Person: Started her promo before the match with Tessa Blanchard at QOC 5 by saying, "Hania doesn't care" about what her father and her grandfather (Joe Blanchard, wrestler turned promoter of the old Southwest Championship Wrestling promotion in San Antonio in the 1970s and 1980s) had accomplished in wrestling.
  • Tribal Facepaint: At times. Especially when feuding with Athena, who had her own war paint variation specifically for the occasion.
  • Troperiffic: Just count them.
  • Tyop on the Cover
    • WSU initially billed her as Jania...which could be a valid romanization if you don't speak English.
    • In the video listed above for Curves in All the Right Places, she demonstrates a leg-raise technique called "Windshield Wipers," but it is misspelled as Windsheild.
  • Unperson: She is not listed in the Past Stars of CHIKARA section on CHIKARA's website, and the people on the message boards didn't take her departure well. This puts her on the list with Chris Hero, CM Punk and Jay Lethal of people who are essentially erased from CHIKARA. For someone who never won a title, that is very impressive company, as Hero is a former CZW and PWG World Heavyweight Champion, Punk is a former ROH and WWE World Heavyweight Champion and Lethal is a 2x ROH World Heavyweight Champion.
    • That said, the CHIKARATopia Mixtape "Femme Fatales" does include her match with Tim Donst from CHIKARA The Ring of Wax, August 18, 2012, and there is an uncredited clip of her hitting a crossbody on El Hijo del Ice Cream from CHIKARA JoshiMania Night III in the CHIKARA: Wrestling Equality Documentary.
  • Villain Song: Uses "The Wicked Side of Me" by Cold Driven for this in this video.
  • Walking Swimsuit Scene: And how. Among others, she has posted this bikini picture. Most of her wrestling outfits are in the style of a bikini (with tribal/Native American style), and most of her Instagram posts invoke this trope.
  • Werewolf Theme Naming: She calls her leg lariat the Full Moon and her double knee facebreaker the Eclipse.
  • What Beautiful Eyes!: As seen here.
  • When She Smiles: She seems a lot happier these days, and her smile is truly beautiful.
  • Who Wears Short Shorts??: Her usual outfit, sometimes with a loincloth or other native accompaniment.
  • Wolves Always Howl at the Moon: Of course. In fact, during her match with Brittany Blake at WSU Power, the commentators even say that she should stop howling at the moon and stay on her opponent.
  • Women Prefer Strong Men: This Instagram post says, "Strong Women Intimidate Boys and Excite Men," and tells female readers, "Forget the boys. Get yourself a Man."
  • Workout Fanservice: She has posted many short videos on Instagram of her at the gym, and her YouTube channel is all about this.
  • World's Most Beautiful Woman: This Twitter post is her jokingly claiming that Prince wrote "The Most Beautiful Girl in the World" about her.
  • Worthy Opponent: In the interview mentioned under Cool Mask, she spoke very well of Tim Donst.
  • Would Hit a Girl -> Old-School Chivalry: At ROH: The Homecoming 2012, January 20, 2012, the ROH World Tag Team Champions the Briscoes (Mark and Jay) faced the thrown-together CHIKARA pairing of Hallowicked and Jigsaw in a match where, if the CHIKARA team won or outlasted the 20-minute time limit, they would get a title shot at a later date. As the match went on, CHIKARA founder 'Lightning' Mike Quackenbush made his way out to support Jig and Wicked. He was followed by Frightmare, Dasher Hatfield, the Colony (Fire Ant and Green Ant), Saturyne and UltraMantis Black. Jay confronted Saturyne, with Dasher coming to her defense and telling Jay to respect a lady. Jay threw Saturyne in the ring, with Fire Ant flying in to distract him. This led to Jigsaw superkicking Jay for the pin.

How well does it match the trope?
