Just another day in Old Town.

What happens when you cross Satan with an adorable black border collie? You get Mr. Pickles! This show follows the adventures of Tommy Goodman and his loyal but Satanic dog Mr. Pickles as they go on many different adventures throughout Old Town. The only one who's aware of Mr. Pickles true nature is Tommy's Grandfather, who is routinely tormented by the devil dog time and again and is always seen as a crazy old fool by Tommy's mother and father.

Basically, this is what happens when you put Lassie in the modern age, sell her soul to Satan, turn into a dog version of Freddy Krueger and throw in gore, black comedy, a death metal soundtrack, and an art style that looks like a mix between a more cleaned-up version of Superjail! and MAD magazine's more grotesque segments, while evoking as many '50s-style Americana tropes for maximum shock-value.

Following the events of the fourth season premiere, the show has been renamed Momma Named me Sheriff.

Mr. Pickles provides examples of:

  • Accidental Marriage: The plot of "Grandpa's Night Out" where Grandpa engages with Linda following a drunken night out with Mr. Pickles, and trying to find a way to divorce her. He succeeds, but he ends up with Dale's sister.
  • Ambiguously Gay: The two bullies that pick on Tommy. In "Grandpa's Night Out" while practicing wrestling they are practically humping each other until they realize they are being watched.
    • This is a Running Gag, with their every appearance implying it on some level. They're also brothers.
  • Amoral Attorney: Ron Bolton in "Grandpa's Night Out".
  • Anachronism Stew: Subverted, Old Town, the setting of the show only LOOKS like a old fashioned little town from the 50s, it is frequently shown that it is really modern deep down. An easy to miss comment from Tommy's Mom is that the father doesn't like modern devices, explaining why most of the appliances in the house are so old fashioned.
  • And I Must Scream: Some characters are even imprisoned by Mr. Pickles. Meaning that they are trapped in his lair forever and under his control. Some of whom are even killed if they disobey him.
  • Animal Wrongs Group: The episode "Loose Tooth" features a group of environmental-minded pedophiles.
  • Animated Shock Comedy: Contains loads of Black Comedy Rape, extreme gore, sexual content, and ugly animation. That said, there are hints of a consistent plot, and notably for this type of show it rarely delves into politics.
  • Arbitrary Skepticism: Grandpa regularly deals with a satanic dog with magical powers, but doesn't believe a guy when he says he saw Bigfoot.
  • Arson, Murder, and Jaywalking: Sheriff puts the same amount of effort into catching serial killers as he does a gum thief. To the point where when the gum thief is accidentally arrested as a cannibal, Mr. Pickles simply catches the real cannibal by framing him for gum thievery.
  • Ascended Extra: Mr. Pickle's man-pet in the gimp suit, goes from extra in season 1 to a more notable character in Season 2. He even gets a fake name, Steve.
  • Asshole Victim: Mr. Pickles almost always starts the episode by dispatching one of these.
  • Ax-Crazy: Mr. Pickles. No explanation needed.
  • Back from the Dead: It's shown in "Brain Download" that deep inside Mr. Pickles' lair, he has ways of bringing people back to life.
  • Birth-Death Juxtaposition: In the end of “The Tree of Flesh”, Mrs. Pickles is born almost immediately after the death of Mr. Pickles. Depending on the nature of Mr. Pickles, she may simply be his successor or a straight up reincarnation.
  • Bastard in Sheep's Clothing: Mr. Pickles.
  • Batman Cold Open: Most episodes in the first season cold open with Mr. Pickles out and about until Tommy calls for him, leading directly into the opening. Sometimes he manages to kill someone, sometimes Tommy calls before he can and he gets to them later in the episode. Season 2 drifts away from this structure.
  • Berserk Button: In "Vegan", the leader of a vegan cult can't stand meat or people that eat them, to the point that his harems are unable to calm him down and he ends up ripping his beard off.
    • Mr. Pickles would brutally murder anyone who would insult or harm Tommy.
  • Bestiality Is Depraved: In "Father's Day", Bigfoot (who's still technically human albeit extended) has sex with a female reindeer. They later have a child together.
    • After his Deer Wife is killed, he starts a relationship with an owl.
    • The cheeseman in "Cheeseman", who is also technically still human, has sex with a fish.
    • Mr. Goodman in "Coma", whom he gets dreams himself as a dog (although he still looks like a human from our/his perspective) in whilst comatose, gets raped by a chihuahua in a dog pound within that dream.
    • In "Mental Asylum", Mr. Pickles tries to disguise himself as a human to check himself into the Mental Asylum to break Grandpa out, but as he is disguised as the Mayor, nobody accepts him as insane until he has public sex with his dog.
    • In Season 3 the Sheriff looses his virginity to a wolf.
  • Bigfoot, Sasquatch, and Yeti: Yes, Bigfoot is in this show. He's actually a former mob hitman in an overly elaborate Witness Protection program.
  • Bigger on the Inside: The local school looks like an old one-room schoolhouse on the outside. On the inside it's a full sized public school.
  • Black Comedy: Like you wouldn't believe, it can give Super Jail and Family Guy a run for their money at times in that department!
  • Black Comedy Rape: In the first episode; after ripping off a kid's face and pushing him of a cliff, Mr. Pickles rapes the bear who threatened him.
  • Black Dude Dies First: Both lampshaded and averted by the black guy in "The Cheeseman". Despite his extreme genre blindness for a slasher film, Mr. Pickles spends his time killing all the kids when they are in the middle of an act of sin, which the Black Guy never gets around to because he spends his entire time worried about being killed.
  • The Blank: Being born without a face is apparently a medical condition in-universe. Sheriff unknowingly burns the money donated to get some faceless kids new faces but makes up for it in the end by giving them the faces of some recently-killed forest animals.
  • Bloody Hilarious: With a majority of the show focusing on Mr. Pickles brutally killing people, you would expect this to happen quite often.
  • Body Horror: Mr. Pickles often subjects his prisoners to this, such as the plastic surgeon who forced Tommy to get breast implants who is trapped in Mr. Pickles lairs with multiple sets of breasts with a horrible man-baby chimera who constantly wants to feed on him, or a super hero who stole Tommy's leg braces to feed his addiction, who Mr. Pickles made into a (still living) car
    • Don't even start with "the mutants" in the episode "Grandpa's Night Out"... not just that but some citizens of Oldtown are like this, especially a certain old woman and her forefathers in "Talent Show".
  • Bond Villain Stupidity: The Bounty Hunters in "Where is Mr. Pickles?". They often get the drop on Mr. Pickles, but they take their sweet time in killing him that he is able to kill them instead. Made especially bad when they knock Mr. Pickles out, tie him to a chair, and then WAKE HIM UP and continue to beat on him rather than just have cut off his head when they had the chance.
  • Bondage Is Bad: Mr. Pickles uses a lot of BDSM gear, and considering that he's a Villain Protagonist, he plays this straight.
  • Bratty Half-Pint: Tommy gets a bad case of it in "Vegan", insisting Mr. Pickles constantly stay at his side and yelling at him when he dares to even move a small distance away, culminating in Tommy refusing to give Mr. Pickles a pickle when he rescues and brings Mom back because he left his side to do so.
Tommy: (With a pitcher stuck on his head and a bottle of ketchup stuck on his hand) There you are Mr. Pickles! See what happens when you don't stay with me? I get into all kinds of trouble! No pickle for you! (Tommy slaps Mr. Pickles with the pickle instead.)
  • Butt-Monkey:
  • Chair Reveal: Parodied in "Father's Pie" when Mr. Goodman's boss kept turning to face him every time the scene focused on him again.
  • Cliffhanger: Every season has ended on one.
    • In Season One, Grandpa has yet again failed to prove Mr. Pickles evil side, and is now forced into an insane asylum.
    • In Season Two, Grandpa has found out that his previously deceased wife, Agnes, is still alive, as Steve, Mr. Pickles' primary pet.
    • In Season Three, Grandpa has finally had enough of Mr. Pickles' and moves to the mountains. Mr. Pickles' (obviously) follows him there to torment him once again. But to his shock, he finds out that Grandpa has taken a serious level of Badassery, no longer being afraid of him, he reveals that he was already anticipating his return. Grandpa comes dangerously close to actually killing Mr. Pickles, but is arrested by the police when he is framed for murder. On the drive to the prison, Grandpa busts out of the police car and runs into the snowy forest, making him a fugitive.
  • Covered in Kisses: Sheriff manages to gender invert this in "Fish?" when Lisa kisses him on the lips, enough of her lipstick comes off onto Sheriff's lips that when he kisses her all over her face, it covers her in marks.
  • A Day in the Limelight: "Fish?" focuses primarily on Mr. Bojenkins and Sheriff. Tommy only makes a cameo appearance while Mr. Pickles himself doesn't get an opening to act until the very end.
  • Dead Person Impersonation: One of Mr. Pickles favorite tricks is to wear the body of someone he has killed to pass as a human. The disguises range from Paper-Thin Disguise to a full on disguise. Luckily the townspeople, except Grandpa, are too stupid to notice.
  • Depraved Bisexual: What else do you call a dog who likes strippers, is constantly molesting a middle aged woman, has sex with a male bear and keeps a woman in a BDSM suit in his hell dungeon cave?
  • Disproportionate Retribution:
  • Documentary of Lies: The Documentary in "Vegans" is clearly heavily edited and made by vegan actors.
  • Driven to Suicide: The Farmer in "Loose Tooth" keeps coming across an incident that makes him not want to live any more. However after putting the shotgun in his mouth something always distracts him before he can pull the trigger.
  • Dumb Blond: Mrs. Goodman seems to be missing common sense. Such as believing everything Linda says when she sells her obvious garbage.
  • Early-Installment Weirdness: The pilot version of Mr. Pickles is more blatantly evil; his victims aren't established as being Obviously Evil before being killed as they are in the show, he brutally kills a small child just for picking on Tommy, and when he kills the kids' scout leader, the first thing he does is bring the kids over to see the dead body.
  • Easter Egg: At times, Mr. Pickles speaks in a distorted, compelling voice whenever he communicates with animals, his eyes turning black and their eyes in turn do too. If you rewind his voice and slow it down, you'll hear a message, which makes what he does to the animals make more sense. Just look at this video if you're too lazy to do it yourself. Warning, it's NSFW.
  • Enemy Mine: When Tommy goes missing at a baseball game, Grandpa briefly thinks their mutual concern for Tommy will be enough for him and Mr. Pickles to work together, but Mr. Pickles betrays him at his earliest convenience to find Tommy himself.
  • Erotic Eating: In episode 1, the sheriff finds it very arousing to watch Tommy's mom whipping in a pie batter, especially when she tastes it with her fingers, and that it almost looks white.
  • Even Evil Has Loved Ones: Despite unmercifully slaughtering and kidnapping innocent humans, Mr. Pickles genuinely loves Tommy and is very protective of him.
  • Even Evil Has Standards: Mr. Pickles is everything from a perverted, satanic dog to a heartless, merciless killer, doing most of it For the Evulz. However, he will not tolerate pedophiles, which makes sense in that he has a child as his owner whom he clearly adores.
    • Also, in Loose Tooth, Mr. Pickles does use his control over animals to stop a suicide attempt, although this might have just been for the benefit of Tommy, who was present.
    • The Little person robber from the second episode of the second season was questioning Tommy's stupidity but held back on asking him if he was retarded.
  • Everybody Has Lots of Sex: Especially in "Cheeseman". One of the campers even lampshades it.
  • Everyone Calls Him "Barkeep": Tommy's Grandpa is called "Grandpa" by everyone in Old Town. Lampshaded and averted in the second season finale where his real name is "Henry Gobbleblobber" and points out that everybody just calls him "Grandpa".
  • Extreme Omnisexual: Mr. Pickles is fine having sex with anyone (like say, a bear and a horse, respectively), as long as it benefits him.
    Mr. Pickles: SMSAGROELPITLUMEVAHUOYPLEHLLIDNAEMPLEH note
  • Eye-Obscuring Hat: The newspaper boy.
  • Face of an Angel, Mind of a Demon: The whole premise of the show. Quite literally too, since Mr. Pickles owns tools in his lair used for Satanic worship.
  • Fan Disservice: In "Dead Man's Curve", Linda trashed the Goodmans' kitchen and finds a way to fix it back by 'convincing' some construction workers to repair it. Needless to say, everyone was justifiably mortified (except for the elderly Kid who promptly had a heart attack).
  • Fat, Sweaty Southerner in a White Suit: Mr. Smilton, the main antagonist of "Where is Mr. Pickles", who hires four bounty hunters to kill Mr. Pickles in revenge for the latter having sex with his race horses. Like anything involving Mr. Pickles, it doesn't end well.
  • Fish out of Temporal Water: Played with in "Dead Man's Curve". The Kid, who has been trapped in a car wreck for over fifty years, spots an interracial couple. His reaction? Telling the woman to cover up her knees because there are children present.
  • Flayed Alive: Happens to a man's face in the intro.
  • Formula-Breaking Episode: Season 2 Episode 6 "A.D.D." Features a show within a show "Astronaut Dolphin Detective", features a drug addicted alcoholic party-going sociopath who is assigned to stop an evil mastermind.
  • Frameup: This is how Mr. Pickles often gets away with his misdeeds by planting the blame on someone else.
  • Foreshadowing: During the episode Gorzoth one of the homeless men keeps trying to happily accept the offered alternatives to money, such as food or a job. He is also visibly crippled: lacking his hands, is wearing only a worn tank top and pants, looks uncomfortable when the mob chases Linda, and simply warms himself by Linda's fireplace when the homeless attack Linda in her own home. At the end of the episode he is the only member of the homeless group who is really homeless, the rest reveal good clothing under their jackets and are all rich people mooching off of Linda's cash.
  • Freeze-Frame Bonus:
    • In "Dead Man's Curb" if you pause you can actually read Grandpa's relax book. Just to note it gives some pretty horrible advice on the subject.
    • In "Father's Day Pie" you can read on Tommy's Father's newspaper that someone claims that a Unicorn cooked him spaghetti. Given the reveal that the Witness Protection Program in this universe works by surgically changing people into mythical creatures it is most likely true.
    • Also in "The Lair" you can see a picture of the scientists that Mr. Pickles killed at the beginning of the episode in Tommy's Father's Newspaper. If you pause it you can read that the scientists specialized in robotics which would spoil The Reveal.
    • Even earlier in "Serial Killers" you get a painting foreshadowing Mr Pickles' origin story in the season 3 finale.
  • Girly Run: The cowboy-like bounty hunter in "Where is Mr. Pickles" runs like this.
  • Gonk: Everbody on this show, thanks to the show's grotesque art-style.
  • Gorn: And how! If there's a vulgar joke, it's common for it to be accompanied with something gruesome.
  • Horse of a Different Color: Tommy is small enough that he can ride on Mr. Pickles' back without much hassle.
  • Hypocrite: Mr. Pickles is just as guilty if not more so of several of the crimes his victims commit.
  • Hypocritical Humor: In "My Dear Boy", one of the two hillbillies asks the other "how stupid are you?" Cut to him placing a empty beer can on his head for the other hillbilly and Tommy to shoot at.
  • Informed Ability: The Show Within a Show "Astronaut Dolphin Detective", said Dolphin is stated to be the best detective the force has to the point the Chief is ready to get Dolphin out of jail every time he commits a sex crime. However from all we see it is just a normal dolphin in an space outfit with all of its "heroics" being Offscreen Moment of Awesome. The episode that focuses on him doesn't help much. He could have ended the mission at the very beginning, but extended it solely so he could do drugs and party. Then it ended with him killing his partner because he called him out on it.
  • Irony:
    • Grandpa knows that Mr. Pickles is evil but is unaware of the fact that most of Mr. Pickles' victims are just as bad as well, especially the pedophiles from "Loose Tooth".
    • During "Serial Killers", he's unaware of The Cannibal's extremely unsubtle desire to eat him.
  • Jump Scare: Parodied too much in "Cheeseman".
  • Karma Houdini:
    • Mr. Pickles! He can do as many Satanic acts of pure evil as much as he wants, but the town is oblivious to his actions. The only one who knows about these things is Tommy's Grandfather, who, gets set up and tormented so he can never reveal Mr. Pickles' Satanic intentions. Meanwhile Mr. Pickles sets up performing good acts in front of Tommy and the rest of his family and all he gets is a pickle. Then again most of his victims aren't very innocent to begin with, the ones we get to see at least. This is eventually subverted in the season four premier, where Grandpa outsmarts and kills Mr. Pickles once and for all. Probably.
    • Stanley Goodman's boss. It's quite surprising that this is the one asshole Mr. Pickles hasn't killed yet.
    • The campers who threw cheese at their fellow camper who becomes Cheeseman and the Black Guy, and laugh as they're set on fire. Presumably they do this to everyone they meet.
  • Kick the Dog: Although most people who do were clearly already on Mr. Pickles' hit list to begin with, kicking him is still a bad idea. In particular, Mr. Pickles seems to relish the invitation to slaughter everyone that comes when a vegan kicks him in "Vegans".
  • Killer Rabbit: Not that small, but Mr. Pickles is able to take down humans and creatures much larger than him.
  • Laser-Guided Amnesia: When working with Mr. Pickles to catch escaped serial killers, Sheriff is attacked by one and hits his head, causing him to forget what he was doing and instead focus all of his attention on catching a gum thief, which was the last thing he wrote down in his note book.
  • Leaning on the Fourth Wall: The serial killers in "Serial Killers" escape when the bus transporting them crashes into the car crash Mr. Pickles causes in the opening sequence, which then continues from there.
  • Leitmotif: The "Cheeseman, Cheeseman..." sound in the "Cheeseman" episode is played with as the black guy can hear it and wondering who keep saying it, and finally reveals that the eponymous Cheeseman is saying his name over and over for no apparent reason.
  • Loose Tooth Episode: In "Loose Tooth", Tommy has a loose tooth, so he and Mr. Pickles try to find ways to take it out. He later gets it out by biting into a lollipop supplied to him by some pedophiles, who claim to know where the tooth fairy lives. Mr. Pickles saves him by killing the creepers and selling their blood. He also disguises a scarecrow as the tooth fairy to make Tommy think she gave him all that money.
  • Made of Iron: See Rasputinian Death.
  • Made of Plasticine: Although Mr. Pickles ostensibly has super strength to aid him, even characters that aren't him are able to tear apart human bodies without too much effort.
  • Mars Needs Women: Mr. Pickles is ehm...very attracted to Tommy's mom. This to the point that a section of his Lair he has a giant statue of him humping her to masturbate too while several members are dressed in robes and masks that resemble her.
  • Meaningful Background Event: All of the posters of missing people on the Sheriff's wall are either trapped in Mr. Pickle's Lair or have been his victims.
  • Morality Pet: For all of his bloodlust, Mr. Pickles seems to genuinely care for Tommy. He's often seen growling or glaring at anyone who threatens Tommy and goes out of his way to protect him. In a way, he also doubles as Tommy's Right-Hand Attack Dog.
  • Nice Job Fixing It, Villain: If Mr. Pickles had just left Grandpa alone when he decided to leave Old Town to live in a isolated snow mountain he might still be alive.
  • Nightmare Retardant: Invoked by the Sheriff when he and Grandpa get lost in Mr. Pickle's Lair. They are bombarded by such constant horror the Sheriff has all but lost interest in it.
    [first room]
Sheriff: [in a dull tone] Skulls, skulls, more skulls.
    [second room]
Sheriff: [in a dull tone] Blood, blood, more blood.
    [third room]
Sheriff: [in a dull tone] Jacuzzi filled with nipples, Jacuzzi filled with nipples, more Jacuzzis filled with nipples.
  • No Dead Body Poops: Averted in "Where is Mr. Pickles?" where the female bounty hunter reveals that she was born without genitals and another bounty hunter asks how she goes to the bathroom. She replies You Don't Want to Know. After Mr. Pickles kills her the audience finds out she pees out of her right breast and poops out of her left.
  • No-Sell: In "My Dear Boy", when Tommy has trouble getting the deer/human hybrid child to listen to him, Mr. Pickles tries his backwards talking trick, only for it to not work because he's half human.
Tommy: How do I get him to do what I say?
    Mr. Pickles: HTAEDOTUOYELKCITLLIROYMMOTYEBO note
Deer Boy: ...The hell are you barking about, dog?
  • Non-Idle Rich: Floyd is surprisingly reveal to be very wealthy in "Where is Mr. Pickles", in which he lives in a mansion and has a beautiful loving wife. He earned his fortunes from winning in eating tournaments from around the world. Furthermore, he prefers working as a telemarketer because to him it is fun.
  • Off with His Head!:
    • As seen on this page's image.
    • Mr. Pickles also does this to a girl in "Cheeseman".
  • Once an Episode: Every time ""Astronaut Dolphin Detective" starts up we see some horrible crime going on, the Chief stating they need said dolphin only for his Number Two to tell him that the Dolphin is in jail for some sex related crime.
  • The Password Is Always "Swordfish": Mr. Pickles makes an effort not to be too predictable and so the combination to a door in his lair is "667".
  • Pay Evil unto Evil: Many people Mr. Pickles kills are not very innocent to begin with, though it doesn't justify his pure evil nature.
  • Pet the Dog:
    • Mr. Pickles has a lot of these as he goes out of his way to make Tommy happy: such as setting up an elaborate plan just so Tommy could believe the tooth fairy is real, saved him from falling to his death off a cliff, as well as jumped into his arms after saving himself from a burning house so Tommy would believed he caught him.
    • Then there is his Man-Dog pet who he seems to care for. In fact the nicest room in Mr. Pickles' Lair is the Man-Dog's room with pictures on how he loves his "master".
    • Then there are the times he will use his demonic powers for good. Such as freeing an old man from a car or giving Bigfoot a friend (as well as saving him from being shot by mob bosses).
  • Police Are Useless: The sheriff is utterly incompetent, which makes it easy for Mr. Pickles to frame people, but difficult when he wants to catch actual criminals.
    Mr. Pickles: Bark!
Sheriff: Oh, hey Mr. Pickles. What's wrong? Is somebody in trouble?
[Mr. Pickles points at the wanted poster Sheriff is holding]
    Sheriff: Am I in trouble?
    [Mr. Pickles points harder]
Sheriff: Is mama mad because I ate all the taco shells in her bed again?
[Mr. Pickles facepalms and tries again]
Sheriff: Ohhhh! You just wanted to go for a ride!
    [Mr. Pickles rolls his eyes]
  • Porn Stash: Mr. Pickles owns one, which he keeps in his secret underground lair.
  • Potty Emergency: Tommy's Dad finds himself having one in "Loose Tooth".
  • Properly Paranoid: Tommy's Grandfather goes every way he can to get Mr. Pickles exposed for his true nature, but can you blame him?
  • Pro Wrestling Episode: In "Grandpa's Night Out".
  • Rasputinian Death: One of Mr. Pickles' victims in "Cheeseman", survives several strikes. He's later seen as a Brick Joke to have survived many fatal injuries and the thing that finally kills him are poisonous berries.
  • Really Gets Around: The blonde girl in "Cheeseman".
  • Reckless Gun Usage: In "Where is Mr. Pickles" the Sheriff points his loaded revolver and pretends to shoot it at two kids.
  • The Reveal: The second season finale reveals that Grandpa's name is Henry Gobbleblobber and Mr. Pickles' pet Steve is really Grandpa's deceased wife Agnes Gobbleblobber.
  • Runaway Train: In "Shövenpucker", a ex super hero uses a super suit to steal a train bridge. Tommy uses his own super suit to bend the tracks up to slow it to a stop, but the train simply keeps going and launches over the gap, landing safely... on another train coming the opposite way on the other track.
  • Samus Is a Girl: It's revealed Steve is actually a woman. Not only that it was Grandpa's wife.
  • The Prankster: Grandpa is Mr Pickles' favourite (and usually unprovoked) victim, even if his acts against him are far more petty in comparison.
  • Shout-Out:
    • A (seemingly) friendly collie with a young owner named Tommy? Yeah, definitely not a parody of Lassie.
    • Putting the names of the dog and his owner together gives you Tommy Pickles.
    • Dale's sister is Kuato.
  • Show Within a Show: Astronaut Dolphin Detective has been featured in several episodes. Supposedly the best detective the space police but it always starts off with the chief having to break the Dolphin out of jail because he was involved in some sort of sex crime.
  • Soundtrack Dissonance: Some of Mr. Pickles' brutal killings are set to upbeat show music instead of the usual black metal, as he gleefully dances along to it while he works.
  • Special Edition Title: A lot of the episodes in Season 3 have unique title sequences that fit the mood of the episode.
  • Suddenly Speaking: In the third season finale, Mr. Pickles reveals he can talk. Although it's ultimately revealed he's just pretending with a speaker in his mouth.
Grandpa: You can talk all of a sudden?
Mr. Pickles: Nah, I always could, but I only whip it out on special occasions.
  • Take That!: "My Dear Boy" has a gigantic take that against Gun Control. Where it shows Mr. Goodman having to go through all types of testing and paperwork to simply buy his son a BB Gun.
  • Token Good Teammate: The Goodmans are frequently shown to be the only good people in the entire town. Of course, they own Mr. Pickles as their Right-Hand Attack Dog, so that might balance things out.
  • Too Dumb to Live: In "The Lair" why oh why didn't Tommy's Grandfather ARM himself if he knew he was entering a dangerous place like Mr. Pickles' lair, a gun would've been useful. Also he should've just video recorded the throne room and then show the evidence.
  • Truth in Television: Glenn in the episode "Smelly Glenn" lost his entire family when a dud grenade he kept from a war went off years later. This happens frequently enough that it is the exact reason you should stay away from any unexploded ordinance, no matter how inert it seems.
  • The Unreveal: The second and third season finale tease the reveal of an explanation of what Mr. Pickles actually is, but the question goes unanswered. The former cliffhanger is just straight up ignored, while the latter does get at least a few sentences in before being cut off. Parodied in the fourth season premiere, Grandpa discovers the entire truth of Mr. Pickles comes from and explains it in detail to a very disinterested Sheriff. While we do get to hear the rest of the story of where the first Evil Dog came from, Sheriff completely tunes out as Grandpa gets to what he calls “the most interesting part”.
  • Victory Is Boring: Mr. Pickles gets Grandpa sent to the insane asylum and immediately regrets it when he realizes this means he no longer gets to mess with him.
  • Vocal Dissonance: One of the bounty hunters in "Where is Mr. Pickles", who is modeled after a cowboy and chews tobacco, speaks in an incredibly high-pitched and borderline-girly voice.
  • Vulgar Humor: The only jokes this show can tell are sick ones.
  • Wham Episode: "The Tree of Flesh" ends with Grandpa actually killing Mr. Pickles. The next episode aired immediately afterward changes the name of the show to "Momma Named me Sheriff".
  • What You Are in the Dark: In "Vegan", Mrs. Goodman was bound and blindfolded, the perfect chance Mr. Pickles has been looking towards all episode. But in the end couldn't do it, pushes her out so she wouldn't see the group slaughtered, and settles for a belly rub after he frees her.
  • Whole-Plot Reference:
  • World of Buxom: Every woman on the show has gigantic breasts, though this frequently dips into Fan Disservice due to how hideous several of the women are.
  • Would Hurt a Child: Averted for the most apart. Mr. Pickles refrains from going after the two boys who repeatedly pick on Tommy until their own centric episode when their bullying escalates to the point that he's willing to kill them, only for him to punish their parents instead at the end of the episode. Played straight in the pilot when Mr. Pickles straight up kills a child in the same gruesome manner as he does adults.
  • Wounded Gazelle Gambit:
    • Wanda in the first episode - if Mr. Goodman doesn't hang out with her, she'll cry out that he raped her.
    • Also a favorite tactic of Mr. Pickles so as to pin the blame of his own crimes on someone else.
  • Wrong Genre Savvy: Ends up in the black guy's favor in "The Cheeseman", while he aware of the Black Dude Dies First trope, he fails to realize he's in a traditional slasher horror situation, in which teens are killed as a form of karmic punishment. Since he never actually does anything wrong since he's too busy focusing on and fretting about the wrong trope, he ends up never being targeted by Mr. Pickles.

Alternative Title(s): Mr Pickles Good Boy
