I, Elvis Riboldi take on TV Tropes!
I, Elvis Riboldi is a Spanish series launched in 2021 by Cartoon Network, an adaptation of a Spanish graphic novel created by Bono Bidari, a House Pseudonym comprising of writers Ramon Cabrera, Jaume Copons, Daniel Cerdà and illustrator Òscar Julve.

A comedy-drama series, it focuses on Elvis Riboldi, a 12-year-old boy who has good intentions, but they boomerang back on him due to overzealousness.

Set in the town of Icaria, it follows the adventures of Elvis in his daily life.

Compare with Titeuf which has a similar premise.

Tropes found in I, Elvis Riboldi:

  • Adaptation Inspiration: The original graphic novel was wacky-humored, but this one goes Lighter and Softer and slightly more comedy-driven.
  • Adaptation Expansion: The first eight episodes are adaptations of the graphic novel, then from episode nine, it's entirely original material onwards.
  • Aesop Amnesia: Elvis learns the lesson by the end of the episode, but a few episodes later seems to have forgotten them, but given the show's nature of being humor-driven, this is for comedy purposes.
  • Alternate Continuity: It's a separate canon from the graphic novel, although there are a few key differences.
  • Ambiguously Brown: Although Boris Nusrat, Elvis' best friend is stated to be Indian (his family are from Kandahar) it's never made clear whether he is of Siddi descent (i.e. Indians descended from Bantu peoples in Africa) or if he's half-black, half-Indian. He looks more Black and Nerdy than Indian.
  • Black Comedy: Focusing less on gross-out jokes and more about making Elvis the subject of comedy for this purpose, it includes Amusing Injuries.
  • Bollywood Nerd: Boris Nusrat, Elvis' best friend is the stereotypical one physically, but he's also The Ace as well, which isn't always shown with this type of character.
  • Camp Straight: Zig-zagged. Despite having a love of Bollywood musicals, Boris Nusrat doesn't show any other camp mannerisms, and also an Enforced Trope to try and show his Indian heritage.
  • Children Are Innocent: Elvis is portrayed as not being evil, and more misunderstood than malicious.
  • Comic-Book Time: Elvis will always be a 12-year-old, his mom Ireland in her mid-30s and characters never age.
  • Economy Cast: Elvis' mom Ireland is the only mailwoman - and indeed delivery person - in Icaria. We also seem to see only one judge for the whole legal system, and one school for what must be a city-state, although it appears to be a Two-Teacher School.
  • Keet: Elvis is 12 years old, small, hyperactive, and doesn't want to be mean. However, it's zig-zagged as he is socially awkward.
  • Lighter and Softer: By comparison with the rest of Cartoon Network's cartoons; no major Big Bad, no dark and edgy Story Arc about Growing Up Sucks, and an emphasis on comedy and fun.
  • Nice Guy: Elvis always wants to be helpful, and is a nice guy in general, with barely a spiteful or jerkass mood during the series.
  • Nothing Exciting Ever Happens Here: Well, until Elvis Riboldi was born, this was true for Icaria the city-state, according to promotional material for the show.
  • Spotlight-Stealing Squad: Elvis will always have a major role in every episode, therefore stopping A Day in the Limelight from being able to happen fully.
  • Status Quo Is God: Zig-zagged No matter what happens at the end of each episode, everything nearly always returns back to normal and Elvis will mostly have Aesop Amnesia. However, he still learns some major aesops.
  • Two Guys and a Girl: Elvis, Boris, and Emma respectively.
  • Ultimate Job Security: Elvis' mom Ireland the postwoman (the only mailwoman in town) will never lose her job.
  • Vetinari Job Security: Ireland, Elvis' mom cannot lose her job as there is no-one else to do it in town. The mail doesn't get delivered if she isn't there.
  • Webcomic Time: The progression of time in the show is vague to say the least, although how it progresses is not specified in the series itself.
  • Where the Hell Is Springfield?: Icaria's location is never stated, whether it's a city-state or city is unknown.
