Free for All is a 2003 series about college student Johnny Jenkins and his dysfunctional family and friends.

This series provides examples of:

  • All for Nothing: In "The Deal" Johnny successfully cures Angus of his Vicodin addiction, only for his father to shoot Angus for pouring his booze down the sink and the nurses in the ambulance to ignore Johnny's plea to not hook him up to a Vicodin drip, resulting in Angus relapsing.
  • Butt-Monkey: Johnny suffers constant abuse at every turn.
  • Expressive Shirt: The smiley face on Johnny's shirt changes its expression depending on his mood.
  • Frisky Ferret: Clay has a pet ferret named Angus who he rescued from a drug testing lab.
  • Gainax Ending: The series finale has the host of the shopping channel Grandma has been ordering junk from showing up to rob the house, and upon being told the family doesn't have any money he starts firing his gun randomly as the credits roll, leaving everyone's fate unknown.
  • Improbable Hairstyle: Clay sports Super Saiyan-like Anime Hair.
  • Kick the Dog: Grandma not only keeps a yearbook in which she crosses off people she's outlived, she also calls their families and brags.
  • Long-Lived: Grandma is over a hundred years old.
  • Missing Mom: According to Johnny's father, his mother ran out on him after giving birth.
  • Nouveau Riche: Clay became rich from faking an accident at Taco Hell and suing them.
  • Obfuscating Disability: Clay claims to still be in debilitating pain from the "accident" and has a steady supply of Vicodin he doesn't need.
  • Screw Politeness, I'm a Senior!: In a show filled with terrible people, Grandma is the worst of all. The first thing she does in the series is attempt to murder Johnny just so she can get his room.
  • The Unfavorite: Johnny's own father prefers his friend Clay to him.
  • Writing Around Trademarks: In "The Deal" the Vicodin drip in the ambulance has it spelled "Vico Din" instead, even though the characters still pronounce it as one word.
