Jerma985 (real name Jeremy Elbertson/Harrington) is a gaming and comedy streamer, formerly focusing on a YouTube channel before he made the switch to Twitch streaming. While Jerma got his start with Team Fortress 2 videos as the vitriolic best bud of STAR_, he has since developed a reputation for his unique sense of humor and outside-the-box video ideas and livestream events.

Jerma's old YouTube channel had a couple of now-discontinued mini-series: 'Grandpa Plays', in which he role-played as his own grumpy grandpa, and 'Scare Saturdays' where he played horror games every Saturday. He was mostly known for focusing on TF2, though he has since moved on from the game. One of his most prominent series is the 'Jerma Rumble', which is a Massive Multiplayer Crossover featuring original and/or existing characters from anything, from video games to cereal mascots, duking it out in a WWE-style Royal Rumble setting. From this has spawned the Jerma Wrestling Federation, a long series of wrestling matches made using the annual WWE video games. He has also delved into live-action comedy from time to time, whether it be silent films featuring Pac-Man, stage magic shows, taking a hot air balloon across America, chat-interactive gaming streams, or even reading Choose Your Own Adventure books. He is consistently one of the most creative streamers on Twitch.

Most of his new content is on his Twitch channel, found here. On YouTube he has shifted to his second channel "2ndJerma," where condensed highlights of his streams are uploaded. They are edited by a team led by Holy Mackeral the Third, who used to make unofficial compilation of Jerma's VODs on his own channel. You can still find Jerma's old YouTube channel here, which has all of his content from 2011-2016.

His brief experiments in 3D movie making, Rat Movie: Mystery of the Mayan Treasure and its sequel, now have their own page.

On August 18th, 2021, Jerma hosted The Jerma985 Dollhouse, an ambitious three day long stream that mixed improv comedy with Audience Participation.

TROPES ARE PAIN, I HATE-

  • invokedAccidental Innuendo: Lampshaded in "TF2 - The Lob Slobs" after Jerma tells STAR_ "I have to be in the mood for you".
Jerma: (silly voice) Hey, did you see that top comment? "Jerma wants to be in the mood for Star! (kissing noises)"
  • Added Alliterative Appeal: "Fuck It February" (2017) during which he almost exclusively livestreamed The Movies.
  • A God Am I: Played for laughs by STAR_ in The Corner Creeps:
STAR_: Have you been pocket medic'd by, like, a god?
  • A.I. Is a Crapshoot: In 'Supreme Cheat Code Commander', Jerma and STAR_ agreed to cease fire until they both build up at least a thousand units. That cease fire expired prematurely when Jerma's units suddenly swoop over to STAR_'s base and started to wreck havoc and Jerma claimed that he has no control over those units, then STAR_ just attack Jerma's units anyways.
  • Allegedly Free Game: Jerma tried to show off some pinball arcade emulators on a(n allegedly) free pinball collection game in the 'I Am The Pinball Lord of the Rings Wizard' video. Jerma realize that all but one pinball game need to be purchased to unlock and stuck to having to play Tales of the Arabian Nights pinball game throughout the rest of the video.
  • Amusement Park of Doom: What Jerma's amusement park in 'You Wanna Ride My Rollah Coasta' video become, with roller coaster rides ended in a crash almost every time, vomits everywhere and one instances where the roller coaster abruptly ended by crashing into a koala bear statue's crotch.
  • Anachronism Stew: Jerma picking up a shotgun abruptly brings the narrative of "Castle Griffinsteed" to a screeching halt. And before that happens, if you look closely you can spot a Dumpster outside earlier in the video.
  • Analogy Backfire: In 'Lethal League-Dinner or Song?':
Jerma: You're gonna put a-You're not wearing pants right now?
    STAR_: No.
    Jerma: Well that's...interesting, I guess.
  • …And That Little Girl Was Me: In "TF2 - Slugman's Transformation", Jerma tells a story about Slugman, a human with the mind of a slug who can't bring himself to do anything. It turns out that Slugman is Jerma, as a metaphor for his struggle to overcome laziness.
  • Anthropomorphic Personification: The Egg from the 4000 Subs: Computer Set-Up Video: and Who is THE EGG??!! video, the man who he himself is an egg who cooks eggs for Jerma for Halloween.
  • Anti-Climax: Essentially every antagonist that Jerma faces in "Castle Griffinsteed", especially the last one.
  • Anti-Climax Cut: In the 'Bring on The Thundah!' video, Jerma played up the epicness of his personal favourite map pl_Thundermountain, complete with lightning appearing on the screen for more badass effect, even STAR_ has his steam name changed to THUNDER for this video, only for the server to change the map to cp_Egypt, to Jerma's dismay.
  • Art Shift: Jerma Rumble - Live Action! is, well, live action, while the previous entries were done in the games' engines.
  • Artifact Title: 'Bring on The Thundah!' video was originally going to be recorded on pl_Thundermountain but when the map changed to cp_Egypt, Jerma used this trope as a reason to go back to Thundermountain, then settles for a double phlog pyro gimmick, since crits gives out lightning effects.
  • Artificial Stupidity:
    • In the 'Deadfall Adventures' video, when Jerma tried to help his allies by shining a flashlight at the mummies, his mates just when in, stand in one place and shoot at the mummies, tanking every single hit.
    • In the 'Quite Possibly The Dumbest Military Game Ever' video, after Jerma destroyed a gang leader's car, he was put in what seems to be a survival in first person mode stage with cars driving trying to kill Jerma's player character, however, the car's AI pathing was...interesting, driving into walls, trees and other car's debris. Can't say Jerma didn't enjoy that, though.
    • The main premise of 'Battle of The Brainless Bots' is to pit two teams of easy level bots against each other and spectate and laugh at their incompetence, with a little help from STAR_.
  • Artistic License – Biology: The very reason 'Gerbil Quest' was made because Jerma thought that corns grows from trees and he made a bet with MLC_St3alth to confirm this fact on the internet. Jerma lost and had to play G-Force: the video game as punishment.
  • Artistic License – Geography: STAR_ held this license when he said that Plymouth Rock is somewhere in Pennsylvania, to which Jerma corrected it by saying it is in Plymouth, Massachusetts, STAR_ tried to excuse inaccuracies by stating he never been to Massachusetts, cue the caption saying: He lives there.
  • Ascended Meme: During a 2022 Among Us VR stream with Vinesauce Vinny, Jerma's feed included a banner calling himself "The Sus Guy." The banner references an ironic fan nickname derived from a viral photoshop of him bearing a Slasher Smile, captioned "When the imposter is sus! 😳"
  • Ascend to a Higher Plane of Existence: More like descend but the trope still applied for laughs when Jerma, in the 'Quite Possibly The Dumbest Military Game Ever' video, got hit by a car and got clipped through the map and several more, even landing on one of them and able to explore it freely, with a very calming voice. He died eventually from trying to land on another map.
  • Attack of the Killer Whatever: Various mundane appliance for G-Force in 'Gerbil Quest'.
  • Author Appeal: Widely known and infamous among his fanbase for his love of pro wrestling, Family Guy, Adam Sandler movies, and Pac-Man, the latter three of which the chat never passes up an opportunity to make fun of him for.
  • Award Show: The JermAwards, where chat votes on the best and worst moments during the previous year in various categories.
  • Back from the Dead:
    • In the 'Jermania 2014!' video, Bat Boy has came back from the dead after Benjamin Franklin killed him offscreen to beat the shit out of Grandpa.
    • Grandpa comes back to life in Jerma Rumble - Live Action!, this time going under Demon Grandpa.
  • Badass Boast: When Jerma asks that Star_ becomes his pocket Medic in "The Corner Creeps":
Star_: Have you ever been pocket Medicked by like, a god?
  • Bad Boss: Grandpa's boss in 'Grandpa Runs a Fast Food Joint!' video where the boss never hires anyone else than grandpa to man the cashier, cooking station and the building station, making Grandpa the only employee. Even the customer agreed that it's a shitty business practice.
  • Bad Hair Day: The Worst Hair category in the JermAwards, which celebrates the various bad hair days Jerma had during the previous year.
  • Bait-and-Switch:
    • In 'Bargain Bin Beach Party, after Jerma got fed up with 'M&M's Beach Party', he proposed to the viewer that he's going to play a more functional, fun party games that is on the Nintendo Wii featuring one of the most iconic video game character in history. Of course he is talking about Pac-Man Party!
    • So, has Jerma finally sold out and have accepted Dork Cube's sponsorship, a newly formed competitor against Loot Crate? Nope, unless a company has seriously ventured into delivering blood in a box...
    • "Castle Griffinsteed" seems like a fairly straightforward fantasy adventure video that Jerma has set up, right until Jerma picks up a shotgun, which immediately yanks the video off in a completely different direction.
  • Beethoven Was an Alien Spy: In the 'Jerma Rumble' video, Benjamin Franklin used a time travelling machine solely to compete in the Jerma Rumble so that he can beat Jerma's ass. That's what he said in the textbook.
  • Best Out of Infinity:
    • STAR_ tried to put the trope in effect in attempt to pull amazing plays in 'Pulling It Off with The Pump Brothers' video after he keep dying for dumb reasons(dying to a mini sentry, dying to a guy who build said mini sentry with loaded crit Frontier Justice and to a random huntsman) but Jerma subverted it by the third time he died by forcing himself in the game and added a new rule to see which of the two pulls off first. No hundred bucks betted. They never pull anything off in the remaining clip.
    • In the 'Divekick: 1v1 Jerma vs. STAR_ Curtain Showdown' video, after Jerma beat STAR_ in a Divekick best out of 3 matches for curtains(see The Bet below for context), STAR_ tried to go for best out of 5 but seeing how the video ended right there, it did not work.
  • The Bet:
    • In the appropiately named 'I Betcha a Hundred Bucks' and '1v1 divekick curtain showdown' video where Jerma and STAR_ bet a hundred bucks and a curtain in these respective videos and Jerma won both of them. Later, according to Jerma's own comment in the former video, STAR_ stayed true to his words and mailed Jerma curtains and a hundred bucks. Along with a Polaroid picture of STAR_ giving a double middle finger.
    • Jerma was forced on a 'Gerbil Quest' after he lost a bet with MLC_St3alth; Jerma thought that corns grow on trees(complete with an MS Paint of a corn tree that hangs like an orange) and made a bet with St3ealth to see whether this theory is correct.
    • In 'Lethal League-Dinner or Song?', Jerma made a bet with STAR_; if STAR_ lose, he will have to cook Jerma a dinner, if Jerma lose, he will have to sing a song dedicated to STAR_. Jerma lost and he fulfill his end of the bargain by putting a song at the end of the video dedicating to STAR_.
  • Big Bad: Demon Lord Zeraxos, for the first half of Jerma Rumble 3, the Serpents in the first Stream Rumble, and Green Screen in Stream Rumble 2018.
  • Big Bad Wannabe: The demons in Castle Griffinsteed was slated to be the bosses of the game and the one which corrupts the castle. Both of them are easy as hell, the first one goes down to a single RPG, the other goes down in a burst of uzi bullets.
  • Big "SHUT UP!": STAR_ gave one to Jerma in 'Wash_Hogs' after Jerma kept going and on about that Fang Thpeak joke and the pixelation of the title menu.
  • Bizarrchitecture: The titular "Castle Griffinsteed", where Karl Griffinsteed goes down the stairs...and emerges outside, in a brightly colored Sugar Bowl landscape filled with bunnies. And it only gets crazier from there.
  • Blatant Lies:
    • In the beginning of the 'Mortal Kwombat' video, STAR_ and Jerma set a temporary truce to do a button check on the moves. Soon after, even when Jerma clearly attacking a ever patient STAR_, he said it's still button checking.
  • Blinded by the Light: In the 'Deadfall Adventures-Annoying Flashlight Guy' video, the game has a gimmick that enemies are vulnerable to the blinding light of the flash light, Jerma took that gimmick and had a lot of fun annoying his opponents with his flashlight.
  • Boke and Tsukkomi Routine: Jerma's Tsukkomi to STAR_'s boke. Especially prevalent in their GTA4 videos.
  • Bond One-Liner: In 'The Lob Slobs' video, after Jerma and STAR_ managed to kill a sizeable amount of people in the vent using the grenade spam tactics, Jerma gave this trope out.
Jerma: Welcome to the Lob Slobs den!
  • Book Safe: In 'Fast Draw: Showdown', Jerma just realized that Preaching Paul has hid his gun inside his bible but it was too late for Jerma to counterstrike, causing him to lose that round.
  • Brick Joke: In Jerma Rumble - Live Action, Disco Diaper is killed early in the rumble and his corpse lays there the entire rumble. While the halves of the Two-Person Horse argue over who "won" the Rumble, the bottom half trips over Disco Diaper's corpse and Disco Diaper wins the rumble.
  • Bunny-Ears Lawyer: Captain Crunch, debuted in 'Jerma Rumble 2' and his surprise appearance in Jermania 2014!'. Captain Crunch seemingly intended to be nothing more than a silly character but not only that he managed to win the second Jerma Rumble but he also won the briefcase in the main event that he was originally supposed to attend anyways.
  • Bumbling Sidekick: In 'Jermania 2014!', nearing the end of the video, commenter!Jerma reprimanded his fellow commenter named Bill for not saying anything for the entire event.
Bill: I kinda just like to watch.
  • Burger Fool: Grandpa becomes this in 'Grandpa Runs a Fast Food Joint!' video and not only is he the cook, he is also the burger builder and the cashier because apparently his boss is too much of a cheap skate.
  • The Bus Came Back: Sort of. Five years after he was Killed Off for Real in "Jerma Rumble Live Action", in his Vegas archaeology stream Jerma digs up a box containing the inheritance of (and a note from) Grandpa, which Jerma reads aloud.
    • Dr. Shmoixen made a surprise return in the early 2022 "Who Will Replace Me?" stream after having not been seen since the 2019 Halloween quiz show nearly 3 years earlier.
  • …But He Sounds Handsome:
    • Jerma made his own Jerma Rumble wrestler so ridiculously big and muscular that even Jerma questioned himself briefly on that and then commented that wrestler!Jerma looks mighty handsome.
    • Inverted in "Jerma The Mini-Boss", where Jerma said that the voice actor of the boss he was fighting (AKA: Himself) that he "sounds kinda like a wuss".
  • Butt-Monkey:
    • Jerma himself is the butt monkey of his own channel, whether in the hands of his friends or just being played around by fate even when he is playing by himself.
    • Bat Boy in the entire 'Jerma Rumble' saga. He's one of the shitty characters that Jerma likes to harp on and even to an extent that Ben Franklin killed him offscreen.
  • Call-Back: After not touching GTA4 for quite some time, "the truck punchline" finally made a comeback in 'Battle of the Brainless Bots', now in the form of MvM tanks!
    • In TF2 - The Friend Team, Jerma forces STAR_ to call out a needlessly-long keyphrase ("Jerma, give me the shock jock; jock-shock me!") before he will activate his Kritzkrieg's ÃœberCharge, much to STAR_'s frustration. A few moments later...
STAR_: We already did this joke!
    Jerma: (giggling) Yeah, I know.
  • Cannibal Clan: In ''Castle Griffinsteed, Jerma's first encounter in a mysterious rainbow land under the castle is a town full of cute, yet unsettling bunnies. That context soon changed when he found their butchery, cutting up what seems to be live corpse.
  • Captain Ersatz: This trope is the reason why Jerma picked 'Zario the mechanic' in FlatOut 3 - Stuntman Mode in the 'Windshield Sling Shooter McGee' video
  • The Cast Show Off: Jerma has a pretty wide range of voices he can do, and is a pretty competent singer/beat-boxer, and it definitely shows in his videos.
  • Catchphrase: From PlayStation 3 game TV Superstars, spawned arguably 2017's biggest Jerma joke.
  • Cherry Tapping: This is the final part of 'Boost, Bonk, Bam'; Jerma and STAR_ bamming on the same target with a mini crit fan-o-war, which does 5 damage on mini-crit.
  • Chronic Backstabbing Disorder: In the 'Jerma Rumble' video, the Spy suffered from this. After he double teamed with Gabe Newell to break the Egg with a double knee smash, he turned on Gabe with a couple of punches and a swinging neckbreaker. Fortunately he get his just desserts. Then Jerma discussed this tropes afterwards, particularly during a Royal Rumble in that this is very susceptible to any of the contestants and anything goes.
  • Circus Episode: The Carnival Stream, a 4-hour-long stream where Jerma plays the role of a carnival barker and sets up carnival games for the chat to play by using their input to control a robot that shoots balls, rings, or whatever object is normally thrown in each carnival game. The stream also includes performances from Cuddles and Polite Polly, a clown duo, a K'nex ferris wheel (which Jerma put a camera on to simulate someone riding the ferris wheel), and more.
  • Chunky Salsa Rule: Discussed in his infamous "meatgrinder" hypothetical.
  • Clickbait Gag: With a video game that's named Youtuber's Life, you know Jerma's gonna pepper a bit of this trope around.
  • Clone Army: The whole army of Byeahs in the 'Jerma Rumble' video.
  • Cloudcuckoolander: Pac-man in 'Pac-man Has Gone Insane!' and 'Jermania 2014' video. In the former, without the player's intervention, he will just wander and goof around even though he was supposed to get milk for his son. In the latter, during a 2v1 match together with Sonic against Gabe Newell he was briefly trying to hit the referee for no reason and later in the same match, he picked up a chair from underneath the ring, climb onto the ring and just stand at the side and stares at Gabe and Sonic going at it with each other and even allowing Gabe to pin Sonic for his victory as Pac-man just stumbled over and tried to break up the pin.
    • Jerma has his moments of this as well, though not to the extent of STAR_.
  • Cloudcuckooland: The world of Jerma is revealed to be inhabited by Martin Van Buren, a talking egg, Tony the Tiger, a near-infinite number of identical really fat guys, and expy of Satan.
  • Cluster F-Bomb: Kingpin, the game Jerma was playing in the 'Kingpin- The Game of Swears' video, drops this all the time, to which Jerma made fun of it in the beginning of the video by randomly saying random gangster Verbal Tic and swears. Justified in that the game tried to emulate modern(at its time anyways) gangster lifestyle. YMMV whether it succeeded or not.
  • Comically Small Bribe: In Castle Griffinsteed: "Yeah, I'll take the chips."
  • Continuity Nod: In the 'FootLOL Fun Time!'
STAR_: I'm like running out of resources. I need to build rezawrces(from STAR_'s own video called TF2 Servers)
  • Continuity Porn: Naturally occurred in the 'Jerma Rumble' video. for example, which video did 'The Egg' first appeared in? Answer: 4000 Subs: Computer Set-Up Video: and Who is THE EGG??!!. Keep in mind that this video is posted in 2011 and, according to Jerma(who lampshaded this trope, by the way) in the 'Jerma Rumble' video, it has about 15000 views before he uploaded 'Jerma Rumble', compared to his more recent videos having 100k views.
  • Complacent Gaming Syndrome: Invoked in both of his SpyParty video where Jerma either almost always play as the Monopoly guy or Morgan Freeman and STAR_ knows this, but the trope was played with as they played the game longer.
  • Counting to Three: In 'CS:GO Jailbreak: Grandpa Takes Control!' Grandpa, playing a warden, spotted a prisoner who went down the ramp without his permission and he gave the prisoner on a count to five or he will get shot. Of course, this being Grandpa, he got stuck to saying 3 three times during the countdown.
  • Courtroom Episode: Immediately after starting up "The Rat Tattoo Murder", Jerma's chat prods him into going to trial right then and there... despite not having any evidence. As a result, the case is quickly thrown out due to incompetence.
  • Crapsaccharine World: The bunny-infested Sugar Bowl in "Castle Griffinsteed" turns out to be home to a murderous Cannibal Clan.
  • Crazy Enough to Work:
    • A downplayed instance the 'Bring on The Thundah!' video.
Jerma: How about double Phlogistinator pyros?
STAR_: That sounds dumb enough to work.
    • In 'Wash_Hogs', Jerma and STAR_ were trying out car surfing in 'Watch-Dogs' and when they first did it, Jerma was surprised that it actually works. Not only that but it's damn near impossible to topple the surfer.
    • In 'Boost, Bonk, Bam', STAR_ have an idea of running inside the house where the sentry was and kill the engineer with his own sentry by standing next to him with the Bonk! effect and let the engie get killed in the crossfire. When both of them try to execute it, however, this was subverted by the engie's stupidity in that he decided to attack the invulnerable scouts instead of unsapping the sentry, leading to all of them dying a boring death to bullets.
STAR_: Why is so much interesting stuff happening?
  • Crouching Moron, Hidden Badass: Count Chocula in "Jerma Rumble 3." Intentionally slapdash in design and dubbed by Jerma as one of the numerous "shitty characters", he stays in for an impressively long time (lasting for almost half the video as only the third contestant introduced) and manages to pull off seven eliminations, the highest single-match score of any Jerma Rumble contestant. In the end, none of the other characters have a chance at eliminating him, it takes Demon Lord Zeraxos throwing him into Hell to knock him out of the match.
  • Darker and Edgier: Jerma Rumble - Live Action! is much more darker than the previous entries, with actual on-screen character deaths, moves that look like they really hurt, a more emphasis on Black Humor, and characters such as The Magician who killed many of the opponents by gleefully pulling their organs out of his hat.
    • Ever since he's moved to mostly streaming, Jerma's sense of comedy has begun to get a lot darker (Although still just as silly.) He's been depicted killing several characters, and an entire stream was dedicated to making his fake family paint him in the worst light possible. His fans have also caught onto this and have jokingly called him as a sociopathic madman.
  • Death Equals Redemption: In the 'Bring On The Thundah!' video, Jerma was glad that he died after he and STAR_ pulled off a double phlog pyro crit chain spawn camp.
  • Defeat Equals Explosion: In the 'Quite Possibly The Dumbest Military Game Ever' video, at first attempt Jerma thrashed the gang leader's car so much that it's top has been completely squashed and the engine exposed and the mission still considered it as a failure. It's at the second attempt when Jerma beat it up so hard that it exploded that the game considers it as a victory.
  • Depth Deception: Jerma and STAR_ used this in the beginning 'Invisibility Buttheads + More Nonsense' video where Jerma positioned the camera so that it appeared initially that STAR_ and Jerma was sitting on a stoop till STAR_ stepped on the gas pedal of the invisble boatmobile and sent themselves flying about the streets.
  • Determinator: Gabe Newell in the 'Jerma Rumble' video, he entered the Royal Rumble as number 2 and still going strong but it can only carry so far into the Jerma Rumble till Grandpa eliminated him.
  • Disproportionate Retribution:
    • In the 'Judge Jerma' video, he was tasked to arrest the protesters for disturbance of peace. All but one got ten years in prison, the one guy got sentenced to life. He also arrested a gonked fat lady accidentally, apparently for obstructing a judge.
    • In the 'Kingpin — The Game of Swears' video, after Jerma was brushed off and told to 'kiss their ass' by a couple of gangsters, initially Jerma complied peacefully, then turned around, pulled out a rocket launcher and spam rockets down the tunnel where the gangsters once were.
Jerma: Nobody tells me to kiss their ass and gets away with it. *started to spam rockets* NOBODY TELLS ME THAT AND GETS AWAY WITH IT-!
    • In-universe of the game 'Kingpin': when the truck driver asked for twenty bucks for a ride he gave to Jerma's player character, he blew him away him a shotgun. Jerma lampshaded and called the PC out of that and call him a dick.
    • In his Hitman: Absolution videos a drug dealer makes a snide remark about Jerma's shirt, so Jerma breaks into his apartment and snaps his neck as soon as he gets the opportunity to.
  • Diving Save: Interestingly inverted in 'Insane Pedestrians and STAR_ the Hacker' video in that a motorist save STAR_'s life in GTA4 by diving onto Jerma, who was shooting STAR_ with a sniper rifle.
  • Documentary: Parodied this in 'The Elusive PyroShark' and the first third of 'TF2: Shpees in the Wild' video.
  • Does This Remind You of Anything?: Happened several times in the appropiately named 'Toribash: Why is Everything So Dirty' video when they tried to knocked each other out but ended up in a really suggestive pose.
  • Downer Ending: The Santa arcnote  ends with Jerma being tricked by his audience into killing Santa, causing the world to fall into disarray.
  • Dramatic Unmask: During an unassuming July 2018 Dark Souls II stream, a masked intruder breaks into the stream and accosts Jerma. The intruder is none other than Star, making a sudden reappearance in Jerma's content after an assumed falling out.
  • Driven to Suicide: Jerma and his teammates managed to corner the enemy holiday punching heavy into the wall, the heavy stared between the two of them swiftly before exploding by a binded 'explode' key.
  • Drives Like Crazy: In 'Rat Movie: Mystery of the Mayan Treasure', Dr. Digestion wanted to drive to the heist location because 'it's his birthday'. Despite his colleague's protest, he gets to drive. As a result, he managed to run over a pedestrian, causing other cars to explode by merely touching them and crashing into the restaurant(?).
  • Dude, Not Funny!: Being an animal lover, Jerma clearly does not enjoy playing the Duck Dynasty game. In particular he's left almost speechless by a live action scene where they blow up a beaver dam. Throughout the video he tries to stop the other hunters, and eventually manages to run one down with a car in retribution.
  • Duality Motif: In 'Duel Failure', STAR_ used this trope as an excuse to play rocket jumper-market gardening soldier as it shows the duality of man and reflected on the soldier vs demo WAR! update. He even said that the prize is gonna be the gunboats.
  • Dynamic Entry:
    • In the 'Jermania 2014' video, The Turkey, The Chicken's long lost rival, made his debut into Jermania by doing a splash on The Chicken during The Chicken's entrance on top of the titantron.
    • This is how the Heist gang entered the restaurant, with Dr. Digestion driving directly into it and crashed onto the counter.
  • Ear Worm: The rat songs from both of the Rat Movies.
Rats, rats, we are the rats...
  • Egopolis:
    • In his 'SimCity Got Ya Down? Roller Coaster Tycoon 3 BABY!' video, Jerma named his park 'Jermaland'.
    • He also have 2 Royal Rumbles and a Wrestlemania named after him(Jerma Rumble and Jermania respectively) and he greatly exaggerated his character to look buff and handsome.
  • Enslaved Tongue: His interpretation of Spamton's [[Hyperlink Blocked]] is something Spamton physically cannot say. Upon reaching this text, Jerma simply makes a random, unintelligible muttering or noise.
  • Every Car Is a Pinto:
    • In all of the GTA4 videos, of course, the most egregious example is in 'What's Dis In Road?' video where a police car that got launched off a ramp and landed upside down and yet another car that just swerved to the side and crashed exploded for no reason.
    • Every car is this trope in the 'Quite Possibly The Dumbest Military Game Ever' video, one expensive sports car got blown up from simply whacking it with a baseball bat repeatedly and the rest of the cars blows up from just shooting at it.
  • Everyone Has Standards: In the 'Bring On The Thundah!' video, Jerma and STAR_ went up to the BLU spawn point — originally intending to take out a single teleporter, catching a medic and patient as collateral damage. Jerma wanted to hide in a nearby trench, only for STAR_ to refuse and stay at the enemy spawn door with his Phlogistinator's critboost. It didn't take Jerma long to realize what he and STAR_ were doing, and had to ask himself "are we really this much of, like, douchebags?!"
  • Everything Trying to Kill You: In the 'Kingpin - The Game of Swears' video, rats actually hurt Jerma's character and he can not even strike them.
  • Exactly What It Says on the Tin: In the 'Jerma Rumble' video, there is a competitor named Bat Boy. He is a mutation between a bat and a boy. Go figure.
  • Fan Convention: Apparently, the failed "Jerma & STAR_ Convention" in 2017 (this event never happened) led to Jerma and STAR_ falling out, where Jerma ordered $100k worth of pizza, then ditched STAR_ to foot the bill.
  • Fang Thpeak: Jerma jokingly pronounced Watch_Dogs as 'Wash_Hogs', thus the title of the video.
  • Flat "What":
    • Jerma's perfect reaction in 'The Broken "Bus Driver Simulation" Game' video, when an identical bus suddenly disappear in front of his eyes.
    • Jerma said this in the 'Quite Possibly The Dumbest Military Game Ever' video when he thought he was in a cutscene when the explosion killed his player character.
    • In "Simoleon Horror Story: Murder House," Chuck Schnozwell escapes a police helicopter in a fiery explosion and plummets into the ground. Jerma flatly asks "what happened?"
    • Demon Lord Zoraxis: "I stole your soul, so I could come to earth and play Five Nights at Freddy's"
      • Jerma: "What?"
  • Foreshadowing:
    • Right in the beginning of Battle of the Brainless Bots, STAR_ complained to Jerma that he was already exhausted trying to set everything up for the premise of the video and he was not enthusiastic about seeing it. This should give Jerma and the audience some clue about the shit he was about to pull. Then again, he's STAR_...
    • In ''Castle Griffinsteed', when Jerma entered the castle, the courtyard seems to look fitting for a desolate, ruined castle...except for the fact that there's a random, modern day dumpster by the side that Jerma conveniently ignored. That only foreshadow about a quarter of the madness you are about to witness.
    • The intro for "Devil May Combust"note  has, as its intro clip, Major Kong riding the bomb at the start. For the unaware, this particular section of Jerma's Devil May Cry 3 streams had a particularly infamous audio glitch happen...note
  • Fix It in Post: In the 'I Betcha a Hundred Bucks!' video, after Jerma won the bet by shooting at 2 guys at the same time with a machina sniper rifle, STAR_ tried to back out of the bet by pulling this trope in effect till Jerma countered it by uploading video on his own channel.
  • Freudian Slip: Jerma tries to repair his meat grinder argument by instead talking about aliens shooting each other, but he refers to the obliterated alien as "you", which the chat took as him actively wanting to obliterate the viewers violently.
  • Friend to All Living Things: In 'TF2-Volunteer Work', turns out Jerma took 8 days off of Youtube video making to do voluntary work at an animal shelter because he loves animals.
  • Giant Spider: Not just any giant spider; the GIANT ENEMY SPIDER.
  • Gilligan Cut:
    • For context; in the beginning of 'Duel Failure', Jerma tricked STAR_ into going into a rd_Asteroid server when the latter wanted to play on pl_Upward and Jerma proposed a duel between themselves. When they continuously fail to set it up properly due to their unfamiliarity to the brand new map;
Jerma: Alright, where are we going instead?
*cue a cut to Jerma and STAR_ playing on pl_Upward*
    • In 'The Sound It Makes':
Jerma(regarding what sound mini-sentry makes): I disagree but not gonna start an argument about this.
*cue next clip showing Jerma and STAR_ arguing fervently on mini-sentry sound*
    • In Jerma Sells Out, when he was searching for product placement in TV Superstars videogame:
Jerma: The Toilet Sheriff? I don't want to do the Toilet Sheriff...You know who I am? I'm Jerma985! This is drivel to me!
*The very next scene is him dressed in a cowboy costume shooting at cardboard germs with a toilet cleaning product*
  • Gone Horribly Wrong: Downplayed for laughs. According to Jerma in the 'Jerma Rumble' video, Bat Boy was a result of a mutation between a bat and a boy, it was meant to be a superhero but then it produced Bat Boy, who annoyed all of the staffs in the laboratory till they had enough and gave him enough money to go to Philadelphia. And somehow he competed in the Jerma Rumble.
  • Gonk:
    • Jerma held a contest with STAR_ of who can make an ugliest character in the 'Saint Rows 2'-Who is Uglier?' video. YMMV on who won.
    • Jerma encountered a female byeah lady during his 'Judge Jerma' video. A lady so obese her neck is essentially non-existent with all the fat in her collarbone and her pot belly needed a wheel attachment to support as she was walking. She even had an 'Oh Yeah' caption printed on the back of the shirt so that Jerma can make a 'byeah' joke.
  • Grenade Spam: The central premise of 'The Lob Slobs' video is to spam the vent in ctf_turbine, aka the main corridor for most people to the main battlement, with pipe spams, then it reached to a logical conclusion when Jerma get the whole server to cooperate, go demo and just spam pipes in that same cramped vent. Massive explosions, ludicrous gibs and hilarity ensued.
  • Grumpy Old Man: Jerma's grandpa.
  • Hoist by His Own Petard:
    • In the 'FootLOL Fun Time!' video, Jerma's plan was to spam a lot of footballs note  and get his players to score goals. However, he did not account that STAR_'s players can do the same as well along with his tactical meteorites. By the end of the clip, STAR_ got 40 goals to Jerma's 4.
    • Later in that same video, Jerma placed 36 ball artileries aiming directly at STAR_'s goal post only to be foiled when STAR_ simply placed portals underneath the artilleries and have it placed on his side and the artilleries now aimed at Jerma's goal post. STAR_ wins almost instantly.
    • A viewer once described a dream he had where Jerma became a mainstream celebrity by pioneering a new type of stream: allowing viewers to "peep the horror" by showing an AI-generated, pulsating red and black mass in the corner of the stream - everyone who saw it thought it was the funniest thing ever, but every time he showed it, a single viewer would die. This apparently continued until one fateful day when Jerma posted the image and then dropped dead mid-stream, which was left on a view of his body for 72 hours as a memorial.
  • Humanoid Abomination: The Chicken in the 'Jerma Rumble' video, a weird deformation of a wrestler to look vaguely similar to a chicken and Jerma can't figure out if that was a human in a chicken suit or a chicken in a human suit. Jerma does not dwell any further with that question and resumed his commentating on the match.
  • Human Pincushion: Jerma wanted to put this to its limit on the heavy in 'The Pincushion Experiment.' Not only with arrows but also needles and rescue ranger bullets.
  • Humiliation Conga: The infamous(ly hilarious) attempted Red Dead Redemption stream. Jerma attempts to stream the aforementioned game on Xbox One. He goes to buy it on the Microsoft Store but he doesn't have any payment methods on file. He finds it ridiculous that he can't just make a one-time payment but plays along. The store doesn't consider his card on file despite just entering it. He enters his second card, no dice. He panics to the point where he impulsively goes to buy a physical copy while leaving his cards on the table. He drives to Walmart and tries to buy the game, and they have it, but he obviously doesn't have a way to pay for it. He very nearly attempts to convince an employee to buy him the game, and he'll return the next day to pay him $50 (to put this into perspective, the game was $20). He leaves before he can do so and gets back into the car, calls up Kim and asks her to buy a code for the game on Amazon, screaming while he does so because he's just so frustrated. He gets back and does it himself, and it installs, but Microsoft for whatever reason doesn't consider him to own the game, saying that if he does, he needs to sign into Xbox Live, which he is. He tries another game, Skate 3, to determine if this is a specific problem, and not only does that game act weird (slowdown upon bootup), but it also claims that his membership is suspended until he "pays for it". In dire straits, he resets the Xbox by ripping the power cord out of the Xbox. After booting it up again, he tries yet again to play Red Dead Redemption, and it claims to be getting the game ready, taking a while to do so.. then he gets an error message. He decides to give up and just use PS Now to play it on the next stream. When he does just that, it works for a while, until he gets to the introductory scene where Bill Williamson shoots John Marston, when the PS4 decides that his internet connection is too poor to continue playing the game and decides to close it. Cue Jerma laughing in complete and utter disbelief.
  • Hypercompetent Sidekick: Diana Madison, a Resistance member Etalyx recruited in his and Jerma’s Far Cry 5 playthrough, is scarily competent on her own, even charging into an enemy outpost and actually coming very close to clearing it out all by herself until she gets caught and shot down rather quickly. Jerma even lampshades that she’s better than both him and Etalyx combined.
  • Interface Screw: Jerma lampshaded it after he started up FootLOL in the 'FootLOL Fun Time!' video, with the game's start button looking similar to a Youtube play button.
  • Imperial Stormtrooper Marksmanship Academy:
    • Jerma encountered a soldier that is this, as he casually dodged left and right while the soldier, mostly staying at the one spot on the rooftop, spam his shots at Jerma.
    • He also encountered another student of this trope in the Return of the Shpees video where he found a huntsman sniper at close to point blank range, taking his sweet time to aim his shots at Jerma who was the heavy in that clip, and he still miss his shots.
    • Yet another example of this in 'A Typical Day on Dustbowl' video, where, while Jerma was in the process of a taunt to try to get a tauntkill, the enemy spy tried to backstab him and misses four times in the row.
  • I'm Standing Right Here: In the 'Jermania 2014!' video, Grandpa heard everything that Commenter!Jerma talked about him being a shitty character while Grandpa was wrestling the 30's Milkman, then he proceed to get down and completely wreck Jerma's table.
  • Ink-Suit Actor:
    • Jerma is often said to look a lot like the TF2 Scout, especially since both of them wear caps, are from the Boston area, and love to trash-talk and taunt their opponents. Of note is that Jerma IS represented by the Scout in the link pics of STAR_'s "Jerma is Mad" vids.
    • In the 'Jerma Rumble' video, this usually happens when Jerma included real life people into the Jerma Rumble. People who he played the trope straight with: Gabe Newell, Booman61, MLC_St3alth though the Jerma Rumble version was bit darker and buffer than the real one, Benjamin Franklin, Burgah Boy, Barack Obama, Danny Devito. People who averted the trope: STAR_
  • Kick the Dog: In his playthrough of Dark Souls Remastered, Jerma managed to beat Pinwheel on his first try. The chat refused this, and as such began mocking Jerma for dying to Pinwheel.
  • Killed Off for Real: In Jerma Rumble 3, Grandpa and Sonic the Hedgehog are killed by Demon Lord Zeraxos before Zeraxos throws the rumble.
  • Killed Offscreen:
    • Bat Boy was killed by Benjamin Franklin for being a terrible character, according to Jerma in the 'Jerma Rumble 2' video.
    • Benjamin Franklin, Martin Van Buren, Elvis Presley, 30's Milkman, and Byeah #4,602 are revealed to have died in 'Jerma Rumble 3'.
  • Kinder and Cleaner: Zig-Zagged: in his oldest videos, he would lean hard into the "aggressive, foul-mouthed Bostonian" stereotype. When his MLG Grandpa videos started taking off and he signed on with Machinima, he would tone down his own language and let "Grandpa" do all the swearing, while "Jerma" would take on the role of Grandpa's Only Sane Man caretaker. According to Jerma, this latter image persisted until STAR_ uploaded "TF2: Ruiner of Fun" and "TF2: Jerma is Mad pt.2", which showed a rather candid image of an unfiltered Jerma getting very angry at a video game. After this, he seemingly stopped caring about filtering his language.
  • Large Ham: Mostly when around STAR_, but he tends to get a little nutty sometimes.
The more you put yourself out there, the more that you tell people and you show people that you're willing to accept what they're willing to do for you, the better you're gonna be. So give me the fucking secret recipe for Coca-Cola. That's the end of the video! I want the secret recipe for Coca-Cola! Gimme! Gimme the sec- .
  • Laser-Guided Karma: In the 'Jerma Rumble' video, after the Spy chronically backstabbed Gabe, both The Egg and Gabe turned on The Spy with a double knee smash
  • Laugh Themselves Sick: Jerma is prone into this, laughing very hard at any funny moments, usually leading into a headache. Especially prevalent in his GTA4 videos.
  • Lazy Bum: Fat Guy Engie has him as one of these, lazing around and drinking beer.
  • Leeroy Jenkins: In the 'Bring On The Thundah!' video, Jerma initially bring up a condition that both him and STAR_ should fire their phlog constantly only for Jerma to cancel it almost immediately as he could not see anything while doing so but STAR_ was already committed to it and charge straight for the sentry, only to be killed by a sniper, then he accused Jerma of letting him die.
  • Left It In:
    • Invoked in 'Jerma and STAR_'s Top Gun Inspired Bromance' video when STAR_ made a weird moan after he found out he need to make an account to play War Thunder, then he asked that to edited that part out but he knows that Jerma will left it in anyways.
    • In 'A Typical Day of Dustbowl' video, STAR_ reckoned that Jerma would not include the last clip in the video because STAR_'s "not in it". Jerma said he can cut it out, even making it so he seems like he talks to nobody so that he can pretend STAR_ was never even there.
    • Most, if not all, failed attempts at the pop tart joke in the 'Damnation - Breakfast Time with Doofus and Goofus!' video were hilarious enough that Jerma left them in the video anyways.
  • Lemming Cops: Jerma and STAR_ used this logic of the GTA4 cops in 'What's Dis in Road?' video so that the cops launch off the ramp. The result is hilarious and epic.
  • Lightmare Fuel: "Castle Griffinsteed" and "Dork Cube" have some suddenly gory moments that are almost entirely Played for Laughs, but still manage to be surprisingly creepy due to how totally unexpected they were.
  • Ludicrous Gibs: This is the result of Jerma's experiment of turning the Lob Slobs up to eleven in 'The Lob Slobs' video, there's absolutely nothing but gibs, blood and hats.
  • Made of Iron: In the 'Kingpin - The Game of Swears' video, after Jerma managed to kill an enemy with a pipe and took his pistols, he aimed and tried to kill an shotgun wielding enemy. Jerma shot him in the five times and the enemy was still able to kill him.
  • Mad Libs Dialogue: In Rat Movie 2: The Movie, the Rats Mixtape that Michael gets for his birthday has his name awkwardly added with a text-to-speech program
The Rats: Rats, rats, we are the rats, celebrating yet another birthday bash. [Michael], it's your birthday today, cake and ice cream is on it's way. And [Michael] was such a good boy this year. Open up your gifts while we all cheer. Happy birthday [Michael]!
  • Makes Just as Much Sense in Context: The infamous meat grinder argument, in which Jerma compares the chat's argument against a boss in Elden Ring possessing a move that can instantly kill to chopping somebody into pieces with a meat grinder only for a few fingers and eyes to survive intact, asking if that would be an instant kill to them or not. A massive leap from semantics, for sure.
  • Man of a Thousand Voices: Jerma is actually somewhat of an aspiring voice actor, and it definitely shows, as he loves to take on multiple voices during his videos.
  • Massive Multiplayer Crossover: The main Shtick with the 'Jerma Rumble', there are twenty contestants competing in a Royal Rumble match. The contestants ranged from fictional (Monopoly Guy) to real (Ma3laa), from obscure (the Egg) to famous (Grandpa), to just being involved for the hell of it (Benjamin Franklin).
  • Metaphorgotten: Jerma has a pretty impressive one in his video on the Gothic games.
Jerma: When you dip your hands into shit without gloves on, your hands are going to stink sometimes... every time. No, when you put your hands in shit, with one glove on... ok, when you put your hands in shit, with... you've got two gloves, and one hand that's gloveless, and you put your hands in shit with the glove, sometimes you pull out the shit and you dust it off and there's a diamond in there. Sometimes you reach your hand in with the one that doesn't have the glove, Bang! Shit in your hand stinks, and your hand stinks.
  • Million to One Chance: In 'Seriously...What Are The Odds!?' video, Jerma got headshotted during setup time in pl_Upward and was baffled. Apparently, that was a small slit on the wall that players can shoot through that offered a very small sniping range. He did, however, managed to headshot one of the RED player using this exploit. The kicker? It is the same guy that headshotted him in the first clip. Both of these clips are taken a WEEK apart.
  • Mind Screw: He was predictably subjected to this in his Antichamber video.
  • Mock Surprise Reaction: In 'Damnation-Breakfast Time with Doofus and Goofus!', he and STAR_ did an improvised skit with the game's weird glitch in a clip:
    Jerma: Star?
    STAR_: Yes?
Jerma: Didn't want to be the first one to say it but I truly think this weird agency is poisoning the water supply!
both(in a flat tone while their player character held their head in 'terror'): Oh nooooooo!
  • Monster Clown:
    • At the end of the 'Imagination Is Important' video, Jerma's player character was covered in blood, making it look like he's in a clown suit, then he played this trope for laughs.
Jerma: Hey, Kids, it's me! Bozo the clown! *chuckles* Happy birthday, I murdered your family!
    • Rat Movie 2 plays with this. A father hires a completely harmless clown for his son's birthday, but everyone freaks out as if he was a Monster Clown, much to his utter confusion.
  • Mood Dissonance: In Jerma Sells Out, between the optimistic celebrity lifestyle the game is giving and the smiling, middle aged man Jerma made himself, the 'LIFE IS PAIN, I HATE-' catchphrase he sets stoods out a whole lot more.
  • Mood Whiplash: "Castle Griffinsteed." It starts out as a fairly standard Dark Fantasy tale right up until Jerma grabs a shotgun, then goes from funny to creepy when he finds the bunnies, then back to absurd when he sees the zombies, and finally ends in a massive Anti-Climax when he guns down his own ancestor for a two-month supply of chips.
  • Motor Mouth: Jerma occasionally speaks this way when he's ranting or shoutcasting. The trope is pretty much the basis of the "Coffee Commentary of Justice and Doom" series.
  • Mundane Utility:
    • What does Benjamin Franklin want to do with a time machine? Compete in the Jerma Rumble to kick Jerma's ass, of course!
    • What does Jerma himself do when he got a time machine in 'A Blast From The Past'? Why, he go back in time to 2007 to play in a (much more populated) TC_Hydro, of course! Ignore the new weapons and hats.
  • Murder by Mistake: In 'The Corner Creeps', Jerma accidentally killed a shpee because it walked into his point blank shotgun range instead of stabbing him, which was what STAR_ expected.
  • My Rules Are Not Your Rules: An unconventional example in 'Bargain Bin Beach Party', because the A.I.s is not handicapped by the game's unresponsive controls, it already has a massive advantage over Jerma.
  • Never My Fault:
    • In 'Bring On The Thundah!', after STAR_'s Leeroy Jenkins charge into the sentry was a failure, STAR_ accused of Jerma of letting him die.
    • STAR_ noticed that, before Jerma started recording for 'Distraction Heavy', he got tons of kills as a sniper, now, with Jerma playing an RTS styled distraction Heavy, he can barely get any kills and put this fault onto Jerma, much to Jerma's dismay. STAR_ justify it by claiming that it's harder to keep track of his 'unit' while trying to get a good shot.
  • The Nicknamer: Jerma himself. STAR_ lampshaded it in 'Battle of The Brainless Bots' after he called RED team's pile of level 1 sentries "the sentry mosquitoes":
STAR_: Why do you need a catchphrase for everything?
  • Nigh-Invulnerable: Jerma becomes this as a kunai spy in 'TF2x10: OMG The Kunai!' video, where, while in the beginning he only have 1 hp, when he stab an enemy, his health shoots up to over a thousand health points, allowing him to go on a rampage.
  • Nightmare Face: A Pyro named Wedge Gondola appears in "TF2 - Chaotic Engineer Caterpillar People" wearing a painted Winter Wonderland Wrap, DethKapp, and Pop-eyes. Jerma halts the activity he was organizing to comment that Wedge Gondola is "the scariest person [he's] ever seen in [his] life" and that he would have nightmares because of the Pyro's face.
  • No Name Given: Most of the characters in Rat Movie and its sequel are unnamed with the exceptions of Garrod, the mighty guardian of the Mayan Treasure Chest, Sgt. Pickles, the short police officer, Dick Dastardly Richard, the leader of the band of thieves, and his two accomplices: Button-Up Barry and Dr. Digestion.
  • Noodle Incident:
    • Now how is the story about STAR_'s apartment being a jungle before you began filming for 'Jersey Boys in Sentry Town' video goes, Jerma?
    • So when will we hear Jerma fully explained his story of chugging a whole sleeve of Oreos and then vomit on his mom's bed after hearing him saying just a tad bit of it in the 'Bring On The Thundah' video?
    • NOW LET ME TELL YOU A STORY...OF ME OL BONES...it never gets finished in the 'The Story Of Me Old Bones' video seeing as how the original story teller died of scurvy before he could complete it.
    • STAR_ mentioned that he has 'corner creeped' before 'The Corner Creeps' video and it apparently got him arrested.
  • No OSHA Compliance: In 'The High Dive' video, Jerma designed a very high diving board that leads into a relatively shallow pool of water. After one schmuck tried it out and landed in the pool:
    Jerma: It's safe, it works!
  • "Not Making This Up" Disclaimer: In the 'Quite Possibly The Dumbest Military Game Ever' video, STAR_ asked if the game really wanted Jerma to be petty by thrashing a gang leader's expensive car just to get his attention, Jerma used the disclaimer.
  • Not My Lucky Day: Fittingly, basically the entirety of "Jerma And The Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Stream" is this, which starts with him talking about the lengths he had to go to play Red Dead Redemption on stream, including both accidents and technical problems with Xbox's service, only for it not to work anyway. Meanwhile the stream crashes twice. At least Vinny makes a cameo appearance.
  • Not the Fall That Kills You…:
    • Played completely straight in 'The High Dive' video as 2 guys jumped off a really high diving board and landed into a shallow pool of water and landed as if they are perfectly fine, the only thing that indicates that they were affected by the fall was by a understating notification. Then Jerma put the trope in Roller Coaster Tycoon 3 to its limits, as soon as the third guy jumped off the board, he replaced the pool beneath the third guy with hard tile floor. When the guy landed it got double subverted, Jerma expected it to be worse but the guy can walk just fine, only bringing up the same notification. The guy didn't even have anything indicating a serious injury in his mood section. Needless to say, Jerma was stunned.
    • In the 'Jermania 2014' video, Jerma lampshaded this trope as the Turkey walked calmly away as if the fall did not affect him at all after he splashed onto The Chicken from on top of the titantron.
    • Inverted in 'A Blast From The Past', when Jerma tried to land on a pillar in a not-too-deep hole in the middle of TC_Hydro, it killed him for exactly 165 damage, for a ten foot drop.
  • Of Corpse He's Alive: At the end of Jerma Rumble Live-Action, the Fruit mascots celebrate the Disco Diaper's win by dancing with his dead corpse.
  • Offscreen Moment of Awesome: During their first attempt at the "32 Player CTF Speedrun", even after using an Ubercharge to destroy the enemy team's sentries, Jerma and STAR_ are quickly overwhelmed trying to capture the intelligence. By the time they respawn and return to the fight, a heavily-injured, lone Medic named MountainDew Boy is running out of the enemy base, carrying the intel.
    STAR_: What a...What a champion!
  • Oh, Crap!: Jerma's reaction in 'Space Land' when a glass door with a Level 3 Sentry behind it slowly starts opening. Standing in front of it, he has nowhere to hide except a corner next to the doorway, where he is blown up with a Wrangler.
  • Ominous Pipe Organ: Lampshaded. In 'Battle of the Executives,' Jerma is a little freaked out by some dramatic pipe organ music in the game, and calls it "an organ of death."
  • One-Hit KO: Discussed by the meat grinder argument, in which Jerma claimed a boss had one of these with chat arguing that it wasn't a proper instant-kill move, since it wouldn't completely empty Jerma's health from max. Jerma then asks the chat if they would consider being grinded up in a meat grinder an instant kill if some parts of the victim were still intact. He later switches to an argument about aliens vaporizing each other and leaving only teeth in an attempt to diffuse the rowdy chat.
  • Overly Long Gag: "The Photos Are In!" is a four-minute long sequence of Jerma discovering that he used the Fotodome feature from Firewatch to take increasingly obscene (censored) nude pictures of himself, to his disgust and horror.
  • Overly Pre-Prepared Gag: Jerma is well-known among Twitch viewers for setting up jokes that often have months of buildup between the setup and the eventual payoff. The most legendary of these is the time when Jerma and Star pretended that they were no longer friends for upwards of two years before Star broke into his house during a Dark Souls II stream the latter was hosting and dramatically reveal that they had been planning this all along.
    • For a more recent example, in the "Wonders of Archaeology", Jerma rented out a film crew and brought in an expert from the local Science Center Nevada, had an entire (fake) series of collectible trading cards from the 1990s drawn up (including an intentionally dated website), drove them all out to the Vegas desert, and got certified to drive construction equipment for the sole purpose of taking a potshot at collectible trading "unboxing" streams popular on Youtube and Twitch at the time.
  • Precision F-Strike:
    • Played for laughs in the 'FootLOL Fun Time' video:
Jerma: Oh, you wanna drop firepower? You wanna drop some FUCKING FIREPOWER!? incoming airstrikes
    • Played by STAR_ in 'The Lob Slobs' video after the actual birds outside of Jerma's windows started to become a bit too noisy.
STAR_: You want some advice for the birds? Shut your fucking window!
  • Product Placement: Parodied in Jerma Rumble - Live Action!, which is sponsored by... fruit. Just generic grocery store fruit, with a table of fruit next to the ring and commercials explaining what fruit can do.
  • Rambling Old Man Monologue:
    • Let me tell you the story...of me old bones. It started in a Battlefield video titled 'The Story of Me Old Bones', where Jerma kept repeating the line over and over without an actual story whenever he was on a boat. Jerma handwaved it by saying that Old Booty McScruffleBeard died of scurvy before he could ever finish his story.
    • It all started in New Joisey, in a 'Jersey Boys In Sentry Town' video, when Jerma tried to get STAR_ to tell his story about how STAR_'s apartment was a jungle. Then STAR_ lazily started it off with "I was born in New Jersey..." Then Jerma just rolled with it and cranked the trope effect up to eleven with the line, it then becoming a running gag throughout the video. Sort of justified in that both of them were sleepless, according to the description.
  • Random Events Plot: Played for Laughs in TF2 - Boxes. The plot is that Jerma's getting tired of receiving so many weapons in TF2. Jerma tries to take his items out in a bag for storage, but they spill out. Burgah Boy dumps more weapons onto Jerma and runs over his bowler hat (his "best hat!"). Jerma takes a bath with his clothes on. Jerma threatens to fire his assistant if he embarrasses him again after the assistant takes too long to open a door after being called. And then Jerma dies by falling down the stairs. The End.
  • Rhymes on a Dime: In the 'Bring On The Thundah' video, Jerma slipped into this.
    Jerma: We got anymore peeps?
    We get anymore creeps?
You get anymore sweeps and creeps and beeps?
STAR_: You eat a whole box of creeps in one sitting...peeps?
  • Ridiculously Cute Critter: In 'Space Land', this is how Jerma interpreted the robot on rd_asteroid.
  • Rousing Speech: After failing to beat the final boss of Dark Souls 3's dlc, his solution is to play audio of a crowd cheering him on and an announcer commending him for various vague accomplishments during the next fight. It works.
  • Running Gag:
    • Now, where did this 'It all started in New Jersey' gag began? IT ALL STARTED IN THE 'JERSEY BOYS IN SENTRY TOWN' VIDEO but it's only a running gag within the video only, though STAR_ did referenced it in his 'Tip of the Hat' video.
    • In the 'Damnation - Breakfast Time with Doofus and Goofus!' video, it was the numerous attempts at a skit of pop tarts and jumping out of windows, most of them are failed attempts but Jerma Left It In anyways since it still is funny.
    • Whenever Jerma and STAR_ play a new game together, STAR_ would sometimes do duck noises in the beginning to annoy Jerma, which both lampshaded in the 'FootLOL Fun Time!' video.
    • In The Movies, gorillas randomly driving cars/reading books, the latter of which leading to several Gainax Endings.
  • Sanity Slippage: Jerma suffers this while playing The Simpsons Hit & Run, going from relatively jovial to incomprehensible rage and then ultimately to sad, stunned silence.
  • Say My Name:
    • In 'GTA4 Multiplayer: The Choppah Freaks' video, while Jerma was trying to invite Sp00n and STAR_ into the server, they kept annoying him by saying his name, with a one big echoed shouts from Sp00n.
    • While playing The Simpsons Hit & Run, Jerma at one point comes within seconds of failing a mission that involves a rendezvous with Bart, causing Jerma to scream "BART!"
  • Sequelitis: Invoked for laughs in Rat Movie 2: The Movie. The Rats dislike the movie presented to them, and the producer goes on to happily explain how the purpose of the sequel is to sell merchandise, and how the film itself requires little to no effort.
  • Schmuck Bait:
    • Jerma becomes the bait in 'Shoot em in the Face, Shoot em in the Bum' video for his engineer's sentry by baiting the enemy team into fighting him and get them killed by the sentry.
    • Jerma sets up one against his own teammates by constantly repairing his teleporters so that the teleporter exits, camped by a sniper and later a demoman, will be up when his teammates take the trip to instant death.
    • In 'Insane Pedestrians and STAR_ the Hacker' video, Jerma and STAR_ baited the policemen in GTA4 by shooting them from under the bridge and get them to come get a better shot by jumping off the bridge.
    • In 'Supreme Cheat Code Commander', when Jerma finished building his 'rat colony', STAR_ told him to alt-T, which caused Jerma's units to clutter into one ball. As Jerma started to spread them out, suddenly STAR_ launched a nuke(via cheats, no less) and kill all of his rat colonies, thus Jerma's time spent on making these units pointless.
  • Screw This, I'm Outta Here:
    • An enemy medic did this when he came around the corner and seeing Jerma, a soldier, and STAR, a medic with fully chraged kritz, in the corner. STAR_ and Jerma were amused.
    • In 'Rat Movie; Mystery of the Mayan Treasure Chest', Button-Up Barry essentially said this trope when he saw a giant rat picking up Garrod and tossing him to a lava pit.
  • Seinfeldian Conversation: Jerma engaged this trope with STAR_ after waiting presumably a long period of time in 'The Corner Creeps' and 'The Lob Slobs' video, both times it was about movies.
  • Self-Imposed Challenge:
    • 'Punishment of the Pee' happens after Jerma decided to punish himself by not going to the bathroom to pee after he whiffs nine arrows in the previous match. Hilarity and pain ensues.
    • The premise of 'Boost, Bonk, Bam' is that, after Jerma and STAR_ got the maximum boost from the baby face blaster, they will drink the Bonk! Atomic Punch and run to the backline and then bam a target with their fan-o-war. Harder than it sounds.
STAR_: I just crit for 11 damage.
    • In 'Dictation Disaster' Jerma gets his hands on Speech Recognition software, then resolves to play Team Fortress 2 using only his voice.
  • Sensory Abuse: Both Jerma and STAR_ will occasionally scream loudly into the microphone while they're playing games together with headphones on, perhaps most notably with STAR_'s infamous "TO BATTLE!" scream in 'Jerma and STAR_'s Top Gun Inspired Bromance.'
  • Shaped Like Itself: In 'The Lob Slobs' video, Jerma argued that only birds take STAR_'s advice. When STAR_ asked what it exactly means, jerma said that if he was a bird, he would take advice from him. STAR_ then wondered what kind of advices would one give to a bird.
  • Signature Laugh: And a very contagious one, too!
  • Sir Swears-a-Lot: But only if STAR_'s there to ruin his fun!
  • So Much for Stealth: Parodied in the 'Bring On The Thundah!' video, Jerma and STAR_ sneaked into the BLU's trench near the spawn at cp_Dustbowl stage 2, Jerma told STAR_ to be sneaky, only for their stealth to be broken when STAR_ (allegedly) stepped on a stick. STAR_ questioned it, then Jerma retorted that it was a large branch and even sound out its effects(err-KCCK).
  • So Unfunny, It's Funny: In the 'Rekoil- Learn The Secret Pancake Recipe' video, he tried to make a joke about how to make pancakes by representing every kill he got with his sniper rifle as ingredients(none of which are secret) but he failed so miserably at completing the joke that it becomes funny.
    • All of their repeatedly failed attempts at making the "some of your favorite Pop Tarts" joke in 'Damnation - Brekfast Time with Doofus and Goofus', most of which are arguably funnier due to how badly they keep messing up.
    • B.F. Bugleberry, (basically just Jerma in a goofy latex mask and telling "scary" stories in a nearly incomprehensible voice) who swept the Jerma Awards category for "Worst Joke of the Decade". Nearly 5,000 people left the stream when he appeared. Jerma, of course, brought him back, because the combination of Bugleberry's sheer lameness, excessively tedious verbosity, deliberately slapdash nature and the chat's seething hatred of him goes so far past unfunny that it warps around the other side to being funny again.
  • Sore Loser: STAR_, after he lost in the 'Divekick: 1v1 Jerma vs. STAR_ Curtain Showdown' and the 'I Betcha a Hundred Bucks!' video, the former he responded by throwing his controller and headset and attempting to pull a Best Out of Infinity and the latter he responded by saying he will edit it out of his video. Of course, in the latter Jerma did unceremoniously gloated about his victory, as seen in Unsportsmanlike Gloating.
  • Special Effects Failure: Invoked by Jerma about the game called 'Operation Alpha Zylon' in the 'Quite Possibly The Dumbest Military Game Ever' video as he saw a translucent block going through the bridge as an explosion without the game even trying to make it look like one.
    • Lampshaded in Jerma Rumble: Live Action, where Demon Lord Zeraxos casts what the narrator proclaims to be a "shitty CGI fireball" at Jerma's unconscious body.
  • Spiking the Camera: In 'Fast Draw: Showdown', before his duel against Festering Fred, the female actor, acting as a bystander running away from the duel, not only looked at the camera but also smiled at it, which breaks Jerma's suspension of disbelief.
  • Spit Take: In 'Quite Possibly The Dumbest Military Game Ever' video, Jerma was coughing on his drink when he saw a Special Effects Failure by the game.
  • Stealth Hi/Bye: In 'Supreme Cheat Code Commander', STAR_ pulled this on Jerma with an entire batch of vehicles suddenly appearing in the middle of Jerma's base and then disappear almost immediately afterwards. STAR_ tried to explained that he was playing [[Starcraft protoss]] and he already upgraded his vehicles with a blink move.
  • Stealth Pun: In 'Boost, Bonk, Bam';
STAR_: I'm on fire right now.
    Jerma: So just chill.
  • Stock Money Bag: In Fast Draw: Showdown, Jerma spotted a lady running away with a cartoonishly large money bag, he called it a "Scrooge McDuck Bag".
  • Stone Wall:
    • In the 'Bring On The Thundah!' video, Jerma and STAR_ tried to break the RED's defense with a medic-demo uber combo, only for them to realize that there was 5 sentries, making a loch-and-load splendid screen demo quite useless, forcing STAR_ to switch to stickies. But even with stickies, they could not carry the team.
    • In the beginning of 'A Typical Day On Dustbowl' video, Jerma's team has 7 engineers. Dustbowl in a nutshell indeed.
    • In 'Supreme Cheat Code Commander', Jerma came up a plan that STAR_ should build tons of turrets and walls while Jerma attacks him with just rats. When the experiment went live, as it turns out, the rats can't even touch the wall, let alone damaging it while the turrets shot them down systematically.
  • The Strength of Ten Men: In the 'Jerma Rumble' video, apparently Bat Boy has a strength of 20 bats. That does not help him survive the Jerma Rumble though.
  • Surrounded by Idiots: Manager Jerma in Welcome to Rat Burger wants to make a serious burger to serve to people, while his employees STAR_, St3alth, and Etalyx (the latter at least attempts to make burgers, no matter how far away from the actual orders they are) are busy throwing bacon everywhere, dumping everything they can on the floor, grill and in the sink, and serving individual ingredients and live rats to customers.
  • Surprisingly Creepy Moment: Dork Cube! and Patch Notes. Also, the "Bunny Town" from Castle Griffinsteed.
  • Suspiciously Specific Denial:
    • In the beginning of the 'Manglin Snipin and Shpee Watchin' video, he was killed by a demoman named 'Definitely Not the NSA'.
    • That Mario who entered Jerma Rumble 2? Definitely not a drunk Byeah in a Mario costume, this is the real deal.
  • Swarm of Rats: The Rats, of course, in 'Rat Movie: Mystery of the Mayan Treasure'.
  • Take That!:
    • Dork Cube against Youtubers who were sponsored by Loot Crate.
    • After Jerma encounter a horde of zombies three-quarter way through Castle Griffinsteed
Jerma: But of course, this is a zombie game now! Don't you know every game has to have zombies in 2015?!
  • Taking You with Me: In Gang Beasts, Jerma's about to dump STAR_ into a grinder, but STAR_ hangs on to him and kills them both, even saying, "You're coming in with me!". Although Jerma still won the round.
  • Tantrum Throwing: STAR_ in 'Divekick: 1v1 Jerma vs. STAR_ Curtain Showdown' video, after being beaten by Jerma, threw his controller and his headset in an epic rage, before calming down and trying to pull a Best Out of Infinity.
  • Tempting Fate:
St3alth: Oh, this one is simple.
    *dies at the first laser.*
    • In 'Rat Movie: Mystery of the Mayan Treasure', Dick Dastardly Richard told the rats that they would get the treasure chest "over my dead body". The rats didn't even allow him to finish the sentence before pouncing on him and killing him.
  • That Came Out Wrong:
    • From the 'Jersey Boys in Sentry Town' video:
Jerma: (after he died anticipating STAR_ to tell his story) Yeah but I was paying attention to the notion that you were going to tell the story, that's it, as I was sitting there, whacking the gunnote  *STAR_ tried to stifles his laugh*
    • Lampshaded in 'The Lob Slobs' video, after Jerma talked with a weird voice and explained to STAR_ that he has to be 'in the mood' for the video and his mate, Jerma then imitated a typical shipper's reaction:
Jerma: Hey, did you see that top comment? Jerma wants to be in the mood for STAR_, mwuh mwuh mwuh-
  • There Is No Kill Like Overkill:
    • In the 'FootLOL Fun Time' video, STAR_ started the match by placing artilleries at the bottom left corner of the field. Jerma saw this and counter it by spamming AIRSTRIKES. ALL 102 AIRSTRIKE POWERUPS on one burst and he only managed to get 2 goals out of those shenanigans.
    • Later, in the same video as above, as soon as the match started, Jerma started to spam 36 artilleries right next to his nets only to be foiled by STAR_.
    • The last clip of that same video was both of them just screwing around by spamming 272 cows on the field.
  • Trapped by Gambling Debts: The "Jerma Debt saga". During a Noita stream, Jerma makes a bet he would owe 500 million gift subs (equal to 2.5 billion $USD) if his next shot doesn't hit an enemy, and promptly does so. Ever since his lost bet, his chat holds the debt over his head to make him do ridiculous things to clear away at it. Jerma has managed to more than double his money owed with even more failed bets, and one time almost increased it by 10 billion more.
  • Toilet Humor: In this bit, Jerma goes on a tangent about how some people at the gym can talk despite music blasting in their earphones. This leads to a second segment where he tries to do a gym jock impression while farting and screaming sound effects play in his ears, and he desperately tries to keep a straight face.
  • Too Clever by Half: When Jerma and STAR_ face off against each other, they're usually pretty evenly matched. Evenly matched, that is, until Jerma tries to get clever or sneaky about it and often ends up thwarting himself. This is especially the case if he begins gloating about what he's about to do before he actually does it. This is lampshaded by STAR_.
STAR_: You really think you're pulling some shit, don't you? Like, "Oh, this will be funny," I mean who wouldn't know you're coming up behind them?
  • Took a Level in Badass:
    • Grandpa in the 'Jermania 2014!' video, in the middle of his gauntlet match, he lashes out of Commentator!Jerma, tearing his table apart, then did a whomping neckbreaker on the 30's Milkman on the table, breaking it in the process. Considering that this is the same Grandpa who we know as somewhat incompetent at gaming and constant Alzheimer's disease, this is a hell of a way to go.
    • Glue Man tried to pull this trope by challenging Jerma to the ladder match for a briefcase of thirty bucks. Unfortunately, it got subverted as Captain Crunch came in, knocked both Jerma and Glue Man down and managed to win the briefcase.
    • And actually did in the Live Action Rumble, effortlessly knocking down the whole clump of contestants in the ring upon arrival.
  • Understatement: In 'The High Dive' video, after one of Jerma's park customers jumped off a really high diving board into a shallow pool, a notification popped up and it said 'One of your diving boards is causing peeps to be injured.' I think that peep suffered a little bit more than an injury there, RCT3.
  • Ugly Guy, Hot Wife: Apparently, the Egg has a decent looking wife, as shown in the stinger of 'Jermania 2014' showing them having a dinner together.
  • Unintentionally Unwinnable: In the beginning of 'The Broken "Bus Driver Simulation" Game' video, Jerma's bus got clipped into the ground for some odd reason, essentially making him stuck to the ground.
    Jerma: It's fun.
  • Unsportsmanlike Gloating: After Jerma won in the 'I Betcha a Hundred Bucks!' video, he told STAR_ to pay his hundred bucks via Paypal, then told STAR_ he's gonna upload it so that STAR_ have to honour the bet, then finally rub it on his face by doing a weird auto-tune with him singing "I WON! I WON! I GET A HUNDRED BUCKS!" several times over.
  • Victory Is Boring: Nearing the end of 'Space Land', there's no enemies, except for one easily killed lone sniper out of ten guys, stopping his team capping the battery and just won when they have 300 points and throughout the whole video, Jerma was just mucking about the map, occasionally with his friends. You can hear the absolute boredom in his ending sentence.
    Jerma: We did it.
  • Villain Song: Rat Movie: Mystery of the Mayan Treasure opens with the rats singing to the beat of some sinister guitar music. They sing parts of it again in their next appearance, as well as their first appearance in Rat Movie 2.
    Rats: Rats, the rats
    We're the rats
We prey at night, we stalk at night, we're the rats!
Giant Rat: I'm the giant rat who makes all of the rules!
Rats: Let's see what kind of trouble we can get ourselves into!
  • Vitriolic Best Buds: Jerma's comedy thrives on this trope. In his earlier Youtube videos, he played this role with STAR_. The two would bicker and playfully insult each other, laughing at each other’s antics. Since Jerma began streaming, he instead plays this role with the chat, taking their absurd suggestions or getting into petty, comical arguments with thousands of people at once.
  • Voice Clip Song: Quite a few of them in fact, produced by his fans. This has been especially popular in the last few years, with the rise of the Jermacore trend.
  • Weird Currency: In the 'Bring On The Thundah!' video, Jerma would give 20 Jerma bucks if STAR_ can answer his question correctly.
  • Welcome to Corneria:
    • Initially a downplayed example, when STAR_'s player character yelled "Shit! The ground is shakin'!" in the Inversion video, twice in a row, then STAR_ turned it up to eleven by repeating that line over and over during the course of that clip.
    • When Jerma's player character was asked to pay up in the 'Kingpin - The Game of Swears' video, Jerma keep spamming the talk button, invoking this trope with 'Nah I ain't got a dollar', 'Nah I ain't got that much' and such, till it suddenly subverted that he said he gave money to the NPC, who was quick to brushed him off and call him a deadbeat, causing Jerma to laugh heartily about it.
    • Then towards the end of the video, Jerma's player character kept on saying "I ain't got a dollar" over and over as Jerma kept asking a fat hobo, then Jerma himself says it in unison with the PC.
  • Wham Line: During when Jerma was having technical difficulties on a Red Dead Redemption stream.
Jerma: If you have this much of an issue with my stream, then just go fuckin' watch somebody else. Like, I'm seeing like, "Oh, what a terrible start to the stream,", then fuck, I don't know, go watch, like, Vinny, wh-who fuckin' whatever, whatever his name is. You think I fuckin' know-
    Vinny: I can hear you.
  • What the Hell, Hero?: Not said, but implied: "The Star Wars Holiday Special", the first appearance of Jerma's Santa mannequin, reveals that the mannequin is actually the real Santa in disguise, wanting to keep an eye on Jerma until Christmas Eve. He asks the viewers to not blow his cover. This ultimately culminates in "Decorating the Tree with Dad", where the viewers prod Jerma into decapitating the mannequin with a 2x4.
Jerma: Merry fucking Christmas, everybody! (decapitates Santa) FUCK OUTTA HERE, SANTA!
  • Wimp Fight: The second-to-last match of Mortal Kwombat - Jermany Vs. the Stermanator consists mostly of Jerma and STAR_ trading light punches with each other.
  • Wins by Doing Absolutely Nothing: In Jerma Rumble Live-Action, the winner of the rumble is the Disco Diaper, who is the first to enter the ring, killed before attempting a single blow, and lies in the ring dead for the entire match until being the only one left.
  • With Lyrics: The rats' song at the beginning of the first Rat Movie is set to "Hangin' Out," an instrumental song included in Windows 3D Movie Maker, which was used to make the movie.
  • You Are Fat: In 'Fat Guy Engie,' Jerma equips the Engineer with the "Level 3 Chin" item, which makes the Engineer look fat and has him recline in a chair. At one point, a player on the enemy team finds Jerma's Engineer, but instead of killing him, the player just types "fatty" in the chat before leaving. Jerma laughs, although it's hard to tell if he noticed the insult or if he was just laughing at the other player walking away.
